you should also keep in mind that I say technology has facilitated to the disconnect, but THAT THERE ARE OTHER VARIABLES as well (which I stated in my post). That's a whole new discussion that would perhaps involve other socializing agents, such as the church, the family, etc.

Some cynics would say it has brought us closer to each other, but at the cost of being less in touch with those who do not share the same interests. They've been supplanted, many will say.

You are one of the fortunate ones technology has benefitted positively. But for every feel-good useage of technology, there is the flip side, where it is becoming increasingly difficult to come into real contact with people. Face-to-face is being heavily replaced/supplemented with token texts, emails, electronic communication if you will. It's not the same thing.

Critics argue that humans are spending too much time in isolation, watching tv, surfing the net, playing computer games rather than spending time with one another in their homes, communities and beyond. Heck, it's even contributing to North American obesity rates. We could debate this endlessly...

haha that's exactly what we discussed in my communications class lat year

the only problem I have with some of those university classes is that they tend to look at things in a theoretical bubble, not really looking at enough 'positive' viewpoints like the one jon jon brought up, if you will. I think society is degrading, but not to the extent that many professors would lead us to believe.

Is 'Sniffles' banned yet?

i can't figure out what it is because i don't live there but you have an interesting point...i wonder if other americans share that view...i'm sure that many would say that it's the gun laws to blame primarily

I would say its 50/50. Some are very oblivious, while some are very intelligent people like thesauce. Respect, don't hear many Americans actually say those kinda things about their own culture.
