I had TWO run-ins this weekend...one could have become the most beautiful ass-kicking of a guy who REALLY deserved it (totally out of control a-hole with no class, who didn't know the meaning of "no" from the girls I was with and just kept pawing at them and making lewd comments). Due to some confusion at the time about who he was though (I thought we were sitting at his private table, where a seriously drunk friend of mine was busy vomiting in to the table's ice-bucket, lol...turns out it wasn't even this guy's table though), I abstained from making a scene. And it was at Circus of all places...a place that's going to be closed in 2 more weeks! Who cares if I was to be "permanently banned" at that point! Eh, anyway...back to washing machines...

Normally, I try to NOT look at them, because they ARE a vibe-killer, for the following reasons;

1.) They obviously are NOT there for the music. They wouldn't know the DJ from the Janitor. They are there to get F'D UP! And that's it. They should either stay home and put on a shitty trance CD and get fucked up there, or they should be cordoned off in to a section of the dance floor where they won't bother anyone...some place where they can be roundly laughed at, like freaks in a zoo!

2.) I'm not a snob about drug use, but I DO get bothered by people who just want to get SO screwed up on anything and everything, to the point where they wouldn't know if they were dancing in a club, or dancing to the muzack in the Supermarket. If I wanted to see people overdosing (sweating, eyes rolling in the back of their heads, totally oblivious, etc.), I'd party in the waiting room of the local hospital.

People who are out of it on drugs are also inconsiderate and rude by default.

3.) It is a free country, true, and I try to not let it get to me, but it just does! To watch grown people act so irresponsibly on so many levels. For those who appreciate the music, it's not dis-similar to being at a museum with some close friends to see a work of art, and then having a bunch of out of control, drugged up teenagers come barging in to graffiti the walls, T.P. the balconies and generally make drunken asses of themselves...and it's all condoned by security, for some unknown reason! That's what always gets me! I know people who stumble once and BAM! They get thrown out. But 30 Asians can be hogging up a couch, passed out with their eyes literally rolling up in their heads, and Security does everything but get them a pillow and a blanket!


This last Saturday at Avalon, just out of curiosity, I watched to see how long a "washing machine" can be kept-up, before one passes out from all that flipping of the head back and forth thing. It was AMAZING! It was going on before I got there, and it was still going on after I left that spot on the floor a good 30 minutes later! I pointed it out to my friend and said; "Can you believe that they are still standing? Try flipping your head back and forth like that right now for 60 seconds and tell me how long you can remain standing before you get a bad case of the spins and fall down?"

I'd like to see a club where instead of Kryo, they have a bucket of nice, cold ice-water that travels above the dance floor, dumping on the un-suspecting washing machines in order to wake their asses up!

its not to be racist... at least i think... you would just have to see it to believe it (here in the LA scene)...

When I went to Crobar in NYC, there were no washing machines. There were fobs, but they didn't really shake. They swayed, but no shaking back and forth.

And I know I've said it before... but in Vietnamese (and I believe Cantonese has the same meaning), Ecstasy is called "Thuoc Lac" meaning "drugs that make you shake." Hence why they shake.

I do admit, that shiet is annoying but a lot of them washers make the clubs TONS of $$.

I'll take a washer over a sweaty g'd out meathead grabbing random girls ANYDAY!!

no it's called paying full cover.. no guestlist..no discount list..nothing..full price everytime and greasing the bouncers just so they don't have to wait inline .. and also greasing the bouncers when they get busted with stuff on them.

and thats exactly the problem! other people on drugs just dance and enjoy the music and the experience, asians show a complete disregard for everyone else on the dance floor and ruin the experience for a lot of people. i think you missed the point of this whole thread. its not about being racist its about being stupid and irresponsible.

I'm talking about the F.O.B.'s! NOT Americans of Asian descent. This thread isn't about separating people out based solely on ethnicity. It's about a group of people from a different land who come here and make royal asses of themselves. They happen to be Asian. That's it. Nothing more. Doesn't mean ALL people who are Asian are asses at clubs, or in the rest of the world. It's just this particular element, because you don't see anyone BUT them doing the stupid "washing machine dance" out there!

if given the choice i'd rather pay full price and not have any disrespectful people in the crowd than pay half price and get shit on by a bunch of filthy crackheads all night, but that's just me. that's why i love the venues in sf. if someone's being an asshole in the crowd, you walk over to a bouncer, point him out, and he's gone. that's assuming the bouncer hasn't spotted him and taken care of it first.

if i was running a night club, i'd rather clean my house of that trash as quickly as possible so that my venue could begin to build a respectable image in everyone's eyes. too often management goes after the quick and easy buck dangling in front of their face rather than looking down the road to see how they can bring in bigger and better business. la is full of people who are willing to pay full price, but who wants to do that only to be overwhelmed by a horde of washers? you follow that path and pretty soon all you have is crackheads and people you bribe with free entry in your half-empty club.

I have often wondered (and I have no evidence to it, I'm only going off instinct) just HOW it is that these people manage to get away with NOT being kicked out, when it's OBVIOUS as hell that they are O.D.-ing on their drugs? They HAVE to be greasing SOMEBODY'S palms. I know that crowd too. I've scalped WAY over-priced tickets to various sold-out trance acts over the years, and they are the first to throw down the money like it was mere tissue paper!

It's hard to turn away from that kind of cash as a Promoter or Venue operator.

But I hear what you are saying being said time and again here in L.A., and I KNOW from talking to Promoters that it is often part of the reason they move locations and change event names from time to time! It's to keep that element out! It's always just a matter of time before they show up in droves to ruin a new scene.

I don't see how one can remove these so-called washers as they pay at the door and have the same right as everybody else. Of course, if they physically bother other people, they should be removed by the bouncers.

I guess the best option at this point is for security to really frisk and really check "Asian FOBS", as you so perceptively put it, for pills when they go into a club.

And since its being done already, check Whites for weed too.

But speaking of whites that could be banned; I'd like to see the Eastern Euro-trash from Russia and such booted from the clubs (like Avalon). Trouble-making, anti-social a-holes, many of them....
