-- ...From the movie, I Am Legend-- can someone explain something to me?

yeah, that is a possibility as well.

****SPOILERS (somewhat)****

I thought it was blatantly obvious that it was the head zombie for a number of reasons. 5-10 minutes prior to this scene, we see robert set a very similar trap to capture the female zombie. After she's captured, the "head zombie" shows himself, and even exposes his face into the sunlight.

Robert took the zombies for granted and saw them as thoughtless primitive creatures. This could POSSIBLY be true, but definitely does not hold true for the "head zombie". The head zombie took observation of the trap Robert set, and planted his own during the nighttime. He knew that if he set something out of place that this would make Robert very susceptible for falling for the bait. And to make it even more obvious that it was the head zombie's doing, we see the head zombie waiting for Robert with those 2 dogs anticipating for the sun to set.

Oh and also another thing disproving that it was not a trap set by Robert was that there was no black blanket to scoop up the "victim". Robert designed these traps with a dark blanket so that he could take back the caught zombie to the lab for testing.

Saw the movie on Saturday night and I have to admit it brought back my love for Bob Marley's music. As soon I got home, I put on his "Legend" CD and smoked a fat one for old times. Totally forgot just how much I LOVE BOB!!!

yeah, thats what i said the page before.
The head guy was totally proving to be different from all the other guys - especially at the end.

thats what i thought too.. and it was clearly stated throughout the movie and even shown that they are primative and have lost "all typical human patterns" (or however that quote is)...

how do these beings who have shown no sign of intelligence (to us movie viewers) copy this plan and figure out a way to catch him...

these stupid questions should not be left for the viewer to contimplate after teh movie is over...

and they are not vampires b/c vampires bite to transform you, but these zombie/vampire mix were just out to eat him,.. b/c that part was discussed in the movie..

he used the black blanket one time for us to see... there is no mention that he used this over and over... for it to be obvious that it wasnt set up by him they should have shown him set multipule traps using this blanket method... by doing this it would ensure to us that the zombie/vampire peeps set it up and moved the maniquin

they did show to us that he captured many of the zombie/vampire dudes but never showed how on a repeated basis...

all issues that i had when i left the movie that pissed me off,... and with the budget they had and big time will smith and all really makes me upset that the writers and director didnt see this...

I even read a quote later from the Director talking about the writer's strike. Said somethign along the lines that in such a big budget film like I Am Legend that if the strike had happened during filming that they would have shut down production b/c they wouldnt want to try to continue without having the writers there to fix little things on the spot..... What BS... the writers clearly fucked this one up anyways, maybe Will Smith or some other competent person should have given their 2 cents to fix the above said problems...

I'm very bitter towards this movie b/c it had great special effects and a great idea but was entirely under developed and could have done way way more with it.

further proof that the "zombies" (vampires/infected/whatever) were fuckin'.

This is why movies suck more and more, because the average viewer is too stupid and needs everything spoon fed to them.

The movie was alright, I was really expecting a lot more. Did anyone see a quick glimpse of the billboard when the camera zoomed up after the female lion killed that buck. It was the batman symbol with superman logo merged as one, I looked it up out of curiosity. Found out that production for the batman+superman movie started, I hope they don't use the same actor they used on superman returns, he was a real shit actor.

So b/c of what I said does it make me an average viewer who is too stupid and needs those scenes spood fed to me?

Or, did I bring up valid points in why this movie has flaws?

yes... now that is some of the fine detail that this movie had potential to really create... little tiny things like this... pre-production now and follows the time line of NYC coming to an end around xmas 2010..

I remembered that from the movie but didn't think anything of it at the time. Got a link that gives more info about the batman+superman movie?

Awesome movie just saw it tonight

It was just so damn short and the ending was absolute shit.

Posted by phyrrus on Dec-18-2007 08:42:

there's a lot of shit about that movie that doesn't make sense. first, when will falls into the trap, its never really clear if the zombies set it for him or if he just went nucking futs and walked into his own trap.

also, when he goes ape shit on the zombies in his SUV after the dog dies, and is saved at the last minute by that spanish chick, they never explain how she is able to create a giant blast of UV light that instantly kills all zombies in sight. I guess Blade showed up and gave her a hand using one of his many anti-zombie/vampire weapons. that probably would have been a better ending.

Posted by Zewad on Dec-18-2007 14:06:

also since they clearly show the bridges getting blown up and the tunnels flooded i find it a bit hard getting to manhattan...

The movie was constructed on the premise of man versus science, and than later science versus religion There was little relevance to the progression of the film, and the filler scenes became monotonous (ie. mutants jumping out of corners). There was a scene that lasted for approximately 30 seconds of Will Smith doing pull ups...I can honestly say the entire crowd in the theater felt awkward.

The butterfly symbolism made no sense - the tattoo of the butterfly on the South American woman's neck made no sense in relation to his daughter's fascination with butterflies. AND, the whole scene with him playing her Bob Marley and saying a speech about how music and love conquers all had absolutely nothing to do with the premise of the movie. Next time, I'd rather just pay someone $10 to kick me in the balls rather than see that movie.

Because it wasn't entertaining.

There was also a scene where he was picking corn and there was a distict shot of the dog looking up to teh sky with a butterfly in it.

more butterfly interaction..... but again... made no sense..

yeah, i wanna know how the fuck he gets running water the whole time. and also like wouldn't u have to make that whole defense in that house in 1 day, because once it's night the zombies are gunna ass rape you.

yes...good call on teh running water part...

but for the defense thing... he did make a statement saying that they didnt know where he lived b/c there was that one time when he said to the spanish chick "was there any light when we were driving home?" she responded with something like "there was a little twilight" and he was like "oh, fuck... they followed us"...

that being said i guess that was the first time they were able to figure out where he lived...

side note, but it wasn't too clear in what was meant by his maps and the circles with the X's going across them... my guess was that he was trying to go through every building in the city and find them to either kill them, or capture them to attempt to fix them... any ideas??

i just watched it and it does not make sense.

- what was that liquid he pours over his jacket?

- who set up the tramp where he fell? himself? the brazilian girl? the vampires?

- and why the hell was he yelling at the manniqui?

- what was the story behind the butterfly?

- and most of all i hated all those fill ups...syncing shrek, working out, telling nonsense things with bob marley in the background and without being high, throwing himself to the vampires, etc...

I think it was some sort of mixture of his blood + liquid?

- who set up the tramp where he fell? himself? the brazilian girl? the vampires?
The vampire since he was waiting for him in the hole.

- and why the hell was he yelling at the manniqui?
Scared. Being alone for so long he knows where everything is and how it was placed originally. He was very paranoid when he saw Fred outside the movie rental store then out of nowhere was placed in the middle of nowhere.

- what was the story behind the butterfly?
The Brazilian girl I would believe. She delivered the antidote to the colony and I believe the butterfly acted as a symbol of freedom and new beginnings for humanity after the outbreak.

- and most of all i hated all those fill ups...syncing shrek, working out, telling nonsense things with bob marley in the background and without being high, throwing himself to the vampires, etc...
The movie requires attention, the title "I Am Legend" refers to Bob Marley. His "Legend" album. It all makes sense, just watch it a couple more times.

The green goblins did it.

He put it there. It's clear he starts to go quite insane as the movie progresses.

bad advice. once is enough. don't try to ponder this movie too long. accept it for what it is and move along.

German?! Oh man, you are sick. I can't even look at you right now.
