| Originally posted by getfoul The driving feel comes from all aspects of the player. From the steering feedback to the brake feel. Not the auditory side, although that is a plus. The iPod is very good at keeping the user in touch with what's going on without being overboard about it. It's not their marketing department that was so successful with this. It their research and interface departments that had the major success. You can advertise a product with as much trendy stuff as you want, but what it comes down to is user response. If you don't have a product that delivers a good experience (interface and ease of use) then you won't have a high seller. Regardless of how much money you throw into marketing. |

| Originally posted by getfoul We all know that other players have cool features. The people who buy these generally do do their research when they spend 200-400 dollars on a piece of metal. They aren't just looking for fancy things, they are looking for something that has usability and support as well. No, I don't think it's funny that I failed to mention music. I intentionally didn't mention music because of these key ideas. These ideas are something that you, as a music aficionado, are not very concerned with. You want music quality and that's it. You'll learn how to use something regardless of what it takes if it has something that you need as a part of it's overall package. Luckly for Apple, you make up the minority and the people drawn to what they spent millions in research on make up the majority. |
iRiver T10 1Gb Blue suits me fine.
The new ipod classic that I have has 30 hours battery life when listening to music, and 5 hours video battery life...which is plenty for a normal human being. Plus they are easy to use, have good sound quality (when you use decent headphones), and are compact and look half decent too...the only problem I would have would be that you have to use itunes, but apart from that I've never had any trouble with mine at all

Funny, how worked up some people get on the internet, what with PM's and all, lol.

iPod appealed to me 'cause it was easy to use and 'there'; no other mp3 player was being promoted at the time. Me being lazy just went with it. Not because it's 'cool'.
As for the shit iTunes argument...just get the Winamp plugin.
