That's a simple 100 dollar fix

The part I'm most excited about is the 64 GB SSD memory. I'd love to see this get cheaper and implemented in more computers.

As much of an innovation and brilliant piece of technology this is, I really wouldn't have much use for it at all. I need more ports and an optical drive.

No one has commented on the fact that the it has a sealed, non-user-replaceable battery.

Feh.

I think it's those four black slots on the motherboard itself. Which means it's built in which explains the inability to upgrade the RAM.

weak.

No it's not, you can't upgrade the RAM from the looks of it.

Posted by getfoul on Jan-16-2008 00:07:

For the ram, it should have a small rectangular piece that can be unscrewed. That's how the powerbooks and macbooks of the past have done it. I don't see why they would not allow the owners to do that now.

What an embarrassing display of horse shit from Apple (Macbook Air and iPod Touch "update" in particular).

Though I am thrilled to have already stolen what they want me to pay $20 for.

It appears to have integrated RAM from that picture of the motherboard.

And did you see adding the 64 GB SSD drive pushes the price tag over 3K? I really don't know why someone would pick this laptop over a regular MacBook. The MacBook is nearly half the cost, has the same screen and keyboard size, plus it has more memory options, a better processor, bigger hard drive capabilities as well as a CD/DVD drive and more ports. You're giving up an additional two pounds and it's a little more bulky, but I could shove a MacBook in a manila envelope if I had to.

Until the price comes down substantially or the tech specs go up, the MacBook Air is tech bling.
