| Originally posted by mezzir I don't play anymore but I'm still curious what it is, I was ranked 5th in the state back when I was in 4th grade ![]() Also at my middle school's chess club we played one variant that was more of a 'fun and silly' variant, but dope nonetheless. its a doubles game, you and your partner play opposite colors and sit next to each other. when you capture a piece, you pass it to your partner (if you're white, you capture black, and your partner is black), and you can use your turn to place a piece captured by your partner (can't place pawns on the 8th row, can't use them if you are in check, can't place a piece to put your opponent in check) makes for some ridiculous games |
. Its awesome but I love the Monster and Immobilizer. The variant is played on an 11x11 board. Pawn promotion happens in the 6th row. The king is limited to a 3x3 row (EFG, 123)
nerds!

I found this video of former WC Garry Kasparov rather funny.
I love the moment, shortly before Anand moves, when he realises his mistake.

| The following conversation between Bobby Fischer and radio host Pablo Mercado was broadcast September 11, 2001 on the Philippine radio station Bombo Radyo. In 1972, Fischer became the first American to win the World Chess Championship; he fled the United States in 1992 after the federal government indicted him for breaking economic sanctions by playing a chess tournament in Yugoslavia. PABLO MERCADO: We have on the line a notable friend, a chess grandmasteryes, he was the World Chess ChampionBobby Fischer, and he would like to air his opinion and give some commentary on what happened at the World Trade Center just a few hours agoit could be an attack at the White House and I think the Pentagon too. Here he is. BOBBY FISCHER: How are you doing, Pablo? MERCADO: Well. FISCHER: Yes, this is all wonderful news. lt is time that the fucking U.S. got their heads kicked in. lts time to finish off the U.S. once and for all. Everybody knows how youhow you uh MERCADO: Just give us a few simple statements. FISCHER: I was happy. I could not really believe what has happened. I just cant be crying about the U.S., you know. All the crimes the U.S. is committing all over the world. This just shows, what goes around comes around, even to the United States. MERCADO: Hmm. You are saying you are you are happy about what happened? FISCHER: Yes, I applaud the act. Look, nobody gets that the U.S. and Israel have been slaughtering the Palestinians for years. Robbing and slaughtering for years and nobody gave a shit. Fuck the U.S. I wanna see the U.S. wiped out. MERCADO: Heh heh, right. Well, the U.S. is a superpower. How did FISCHER: Well, probably it is not as powerful as everybody thought. They were hijacked, those planes. There has been no intelligence on this. How is it possible that the great U.S. is nobody? MERCADO: Yeah, thats what they have been doing here in the Philippines, and considering the properties they have right now, you know, business FISCHER: What I am really hoping for, Pablo, did you ever see that movie Seven Days in May? MERCADO: Yes. FISCHER: Thats a movie about a general who tries to take over the U.S.A. I think it was with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas. MERCADO: Yes. FISCHER: I was really for the generals, you know, but in the end the president of the so-called democracy won. Im hoping for some kind of a Seven Days in May scenario in the lakes of Ontario, where the country will be taken over by the military, to close down all the synagogues, arrest all the Jews, execute hundreds of thousands of Jewish ringleaders, and, you know, apologize to the Arabs by killing off all the Jews over there in that bandit state, you know, Israel. Im hoping for a totally new world. MERCADO: Really? FISCHER: Yeah. The United States is based on lies, is based on theft. Look what I have done for the U.S. Nobody has single-handedly done more for the U.S. than me. I really believe in this. When I won the World Championship in 1972, the United States had an image of, you know, a football country, a baseball country, but nobody thought of it as an intellectual country. I turned all that around single-handedly, right? But I was useful then because it was the Cold War, right? But now Im not useful anymore, you see. The Cold War is over and now they want to wipe me out, get everything I have, put me into prison. You have to look at the history of the country: Get something for nothing. Take and kill. Thats the history of the United States. A despicable country, you know. Even as a boy I knew there was something rotten in Denmark. MERCADO: What is going to happen? FISCHER: The U.S. just will not do what they have to do. The U.S. has to say were sorry, our whole foreign policy has been wrong for the last several hundred years, we are going to pull back all our troops from all over the world, we are not going to support Israel, and so on. But they will only say that this cowardly act will be punished. Democracy is just a load of bullshit. It is just a cover for the criminal nature of the United States of America. But Im hoping for the Seven Days in May scenario, where sane people will take over the U.S., military people. They will imprison the Jews, they will execute several hundred thousand of them at least. And ultimately the white man should leave the U.S., the black man should go back to Africa, the whites back to Europe, and the country should be returned to the American Indians who lived there for who knows how many tens of thousands of years. They kept the land crystal clean. It was a beautiful country when the white man came. This is the future I would like to see for the so-called United States. Death to the U.S. They are the worst liars and bastards. This is a wonderful day. |
I'm convinced that delusional people are the most entertaining people on the planet.
I'm ashamed to say that I have no clue how to play Chess.
And I'm Russian.
I beat the shit out of anyone who crosses my path on the chess warzone. Take no prisoners, cut some Queen throats, winner takes the loser's wife.
It's a great game to flex my masculinity.

I love chess, but I doubt I'm any good at it. Unless I'm stoned, in which case I seem to become a chess super-genius for some reason. It's fucking weird
Edit: Damn, it must have been ages since I played chess. I haven't smoked weed in a couple of years now
I play chess
