I concur.

His set at demf was definately one of my favourites. I prefer his sets rather than his productions though.

Yes, Carola has always been a good DJ, but I find that with his recent change of sound, he's really brought his game up a level. I saw Carola in 2002, and a couple of times after that, and I enjoyed it. He was a good DJ. But now, he's raised his game to the level of "omg this is so good I don't even know what to do with myself".

that night was seriously legendary, i haven't checked out sasha once that night lol. All i remember looking at you and you're wearing your viking hat and your face expression like "what the fuck is going on right now" lmao

lol, weird appreciation thread.

i respect the guy for being around a long time but that's about it.

I used to love marco carolla way back when. hard as nails.

I must admit though, haven't really listened to him in at least 5 years. No doubt he's still got the skills, but I'm not so keen on this minimal shit.. and I've heard that's what he plays now. Actually I'm not into what he played 8 years ago anymore either.

Guv or Zone.......Can you please bring him back again.....Soon Please.......I'd kill to go see him.

Maybe you like the type of music he plays (and played) more now then you did in 2002?

Maybe his "new sound" is more easily consumed?

Actually, there was a party in March of 2002 where he played with Valentino Kanzyani and Adam Beyer at System. That party single-handedly made switch from loving trance to loving techno. I loved his stuff back then.

I wouldn't say so at all. Back in 2002, that banging techno sound was huge. System was pretty busy that night. I think that sound had equal popularity back then as his new sound does right now: popular amongst technoheads and a few others who are discovering the new wave of techno which is becoming pretty popular in North America. It's also worth mentioning that the last time there was this much excitement about techno in Toronto was around the 2002 era.

Ok, I'm done.

Marco Carola has always been my fav dj.

I loved his banging tunes back in the years and kind o miss them sometimes, but i definetively appreciate his evolution. I would add that we should not forget about Gaetano Parisio.

Posted by Skipper on Jan-20-2008 04:10:

I haven't heard anything from Gaetano Parisio since the dark fall night in 2003 when I heard him on a Wed or Thurs in the basement of Element, a night where I had to work the next day and was stone cold sober and couldn't tear myself away from the dancefloor to get myself home.

No, but I do remember seeing the flyer for it. He played a gig at night. I almost went.

They should book him again.

Have you heard the B side - my cube? I like it better than Magik M.

I've seen Marco maybe 8 or 9 times over the years and while sometimes I have been reeeally impressed, the past few times not so much (most recently playing an early Awakenings slot). He's a great DJ though and I do like a lot of the stuff he has been producing in recent years, like his Do.Mi.No series.
Finishing up my interview questions for him now too
