That is the most used and untrue excuse there is....MLSE wants money....money is gained by winning the cup...its one of the only ways to increase profit for them.

i dont watch games regularly. these days its down to scimming thru a recording hoping we get blown out or maybe to watch another teams star player.

essentially the business model is wrong and honestly how long can the board believe that peddie is making the correct hockey choices when literally everything he's done in that regard has failed?

id have more respect for him if he just came out and admitted that he is not the best person to run the hockey operation....in the same way he recently did with the raps and fuck look at them.

That wasn't really a blanket statement on for all Leafs fans. But the fact remains that every season all the games sell out. I'm pretty sure that Leafs tickets are the most expensive throughout the league and yet our team is garbage. Not only that but people are more than willing to pay the ridiculous amounts of money that it costs to go to a game. What real incentive, other than bonus money, does upper management have to build a Stanley Cup team when all they have to do is build a mediocre team and still make a killing? Or, they could just tease all of us and make a team that's good enough to make the playoffs and ultimately lose.

How is it untrue? Yes MLSE wants money and they're getting money. They've been pretty consistent at getting it while still giving their consumers a shitty product. Games are still selling out. They're still charging everyone an arm and a leg for tickets. True, they do stand to make more money if they built a Stanley Cup team cause then they could charge even more outrageous amounts for tickets, but whats the point? Especially when most of your fans will eat up whatever it is that you give them.

They have "Leaf Nation" by the balls and they know it.

i think it sbeen established that most of the patrons in the stands are not exactly fans but clients or employees of corporations and what not.

just beacause they fill the building does mean that they dont want to have their product to be as good as possible.
these people must have some sense of pride!

Yup my friend and her boyfriend are die-hard Leaf fans and are season ticket holders, they would NEVER miss a match. I've been having this debate with her over what exactly the point was of supporting a team that consistently loses; she just says she could never stop backing them, no matter what. even if you didnt like the leafs, but just want to watch hockey (professional NHL hockey) live, its the easiest/closest/most convenient/obvious place to go.

(but yeah, this factor/demographic couldnt count for selling out each and every game, so obvi a great deal of those in the stands are die-hard leaf fans still going to see their team play specifically.)

the majority of people at leaf games are people who are either part of a corporation or were given tickets by a corporation. True diehard leaf fans are at games in Buffalo, Ottawa and Montreal. The die hard fans are either at home or at a bar watching the game.

Fans who say you shouldn't support your team when they are loosing are the band wagoners....true fans support their team even more when they are loosing....players want to win the cup for two reasons...1 its the stanley cup and 2 money. Teams want to win because of 1. money 2 its the stanley cup.

IF your favourite DJ put out a bad album you wouldn't stop seeing them perform until they put out a good album.
