What absurdity are you referring to? I mean, a lot of people can see absurd results in here, which is just a consequence of different tastes, nothing can be done against people's choice. But if the absurdity is a fraud that can be proved with evidence, then there is something that must be done about it.

well, perhaps with a little patience, you will see an explanation. We all know though that you are absolutely begging it to fail every year so you can try & take over.

Nah. I'm done with just making the odd dig & watching him retaliate, which often leads to him being suspended for going too far

I've been keeping a close eye on the poll. On Thursday I noted that Faxing Berlin was leading Formentera What 46 to 36 votes. When I checked the poll again at work on Friday I noticed that FW now lead 53 to a static 46. I'm no statistician; however, a 17 vote turnaround with one contender not getting any votes seemed awfully strange. And for those of you who don't know you can open up a new TA account and vote that same day in the polling forums.
I've yet to hear from Swamper regarding this and am waiting for his response to my concerns.

i am sure they can make a requirement of at least being tranceaddict or something to vote in polls to reduce that

yeah, wasnt that the case previous years ?

If this happened on the final round, everything points towards happening at the first stages of the process too. The solution is not a "manual count" but a different toty system. I suggest a more transparent system.

I think we should bring international accredited observers to this election.

I Knew it
Come on then. Come up with a 100% foolproof system. The only one that gives everyone a single vote would be to stop people who've registered after the cut off date for the contest from voting. Whether people vote tactically or not is then upto them, and that is something you cannot stop.

I merely suggest a more transparent system. One option is the same system used at the TA Top 250 DJs poll. But this option leaves no space for discussion.
The best option I can think of, is a ONE single thread where you nominate 10 tunes in your preferred order, and just like Nautilus' system, every tune is given a value which is compiled/updated into a final results table. Simple and transparent.
Posted by Ian on Jan-27-2008 15:51:
it would depend on the number of people nominating opposed to the number who vote. it'd be interesting to find out how many people didn't nominate but voted, or vice-versa.
Posted by The Master on Jan-27-2008 16:04:
That wouldn't be a problem anymore. The compiled results would be updated often, so your nominations are your votes. No polls/rounds.

Personally, I like the round system because it generates discussion about the tracks & we have time to check out nominees we're less familiar with.
I don't think Antikythera Mechanism would not have won without the lobbying that went on for it. Which suited me just fine...I loved that track.

That wouldn't be a problem either, as a top 100 list would be compiled and made available to everyone in the main thread around june, updated monthly (also in random order to avoid bias), and generating space for discussion. Note the 10 choices you make around june, could be updated the times you want and the final results would be modified with the monthly update.

pretty mediocre list but not blaming you for it b/c it was based on what was generated by the voters.

No method will satisfy everyone, but I am suggesting a more transparent and fair system, and obviously better that DJ Mag's "obscure" method. Please relax and take the time to read what the method consists of, you will see it is somehow reasonable.

no, it's minimal techno or
...you must have been on pills when you wrote that man...
...agreed that the list is quite...let's say poor in choices, there were lots of other ch00ns which deserved to be there... see The Blizzard - Kalopsia, Leon Bolier - Summernight Confessions, Super8&Tab - Suru, First State - Sierra Nevada, Gareth Emery - More than anything etc. etc. the list would be too big...
I went with Dash Berlin - Till the sky falls down, wanted to vote for Formentera What, but I discovered that kinda late in January 08, so... Dash Berlin be it!

I've closed the final poll. Please see the TOTY Grand Final sticky thread on top of MD for new voting method.
Voting ceases 8 Feb.
