| Originally posted by pkcRAISTLIN wonderboy and the draon's trap/curse (master system) everyone always remembers the mario boys, but rarely considers the much more sophisticated wonderboy II (monsterworld) and III the dragon's trap. a platformer/adventure game where instead of a static, side-scolling platformer, you basically moved around as you saw fit, buying armour and weapons, potions, spells etc. in III you also had about 6 different animals you could change into that would allow you to do different things and get to different places. its one of the few 8 bit games that still get me off today. |

Ascendancy
I rate this as good as Master of Orion 2. A bit different game with less in depth in terms of planet infrastructure, but ship customization was way better than Moo2. Plus the tech tree was designed very well.
Colonization
A bit of unknown sister to Civilization, I thought the game mechanic worked well, with lots to do. Though it's not hard to win the game with only one city and you declare independence.
Monty Python: The Quest for the Holy Grail
Best game of 932AD! Perhaps one of the most random game I've ever played, with interesting mini games like Tetris with dead plague victims (with occassional live ones squirming around), Spank the Virgins (which serves no purpose at all), etc. You can even watch the entire movie. (though at like 100x the speed)

vagrant story....loved that game. and not too many even knew about it as far as i know
remembered this one last night, i should maybe check out the sequel, as the first was pretty damn good:
No One Lives Forever

NOLF was awesome, played the demo, and I remember the game having a lot of humor too.
I know this is a little much to say that this game has never been heard of, as it was semi-popular. However since it belonged to the Final Fantasy franchise, I'd say it was the most unsung FF game on the PS1.
I'm of course talking about :
I still play this game about once a year. It's that good. The story line was so wonderful and developed. The replay value was through the roof, and the Music Score was to die for.
This game could go down as THE best turn-style strategy RPG ever.
If you've never played it, I'd suggest doing so. If you have played it, then you should know what I'm talking about.

). I just love both these games so much i play trough them at least once a year and i still enjoy them as much as the first time i played them. I really wish that monolith would make another NOLF game instead of making new F.E.A.R. sequels...
How about Dues Ex, it was not played by many people and it is my all time favorite.
Also Contract Jack, it was fun to play.

Genesis - Streets of rage 2, Shinobi 3,
Sega saturn - Nights
PS1- Front mission 3 and legends of legaia.
for the adventure game fans, have you seen that sam and max are back on the road in capable hands? it is being released in episodes, some better than others, but the overall is as loveable as they were in the first LucasArt game.
Aquanaut's Holiday
Aquanaut's Holiday is an early PlayStation game by Artdink, in which the player assumes the role of an overworked marine explorer who returns to the water for pleasure after having brought harmony to the world's oceans. Gameplay is in the first person and consists primarily of the player exploring vast stretches of ocean, occasionally discovering underwater ruins or treasure, or fish which can be 'spoken' with. By building up a large reef, the player can attract a wide variety of fish. The game is complete when the player's 'fish meter' is full.
Skullmonkeys
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skullmonkeys
Skullmonkeys is the video game sequel to The Neverhood, created by animator Doug TenNapel. Rather than being a PC adventure game like its predecessor, it is a platform game for the Sony PlayStation. The setting of it came from a place described in The Neverhood Hall of Records in the Neverhood by one of the other god-like beings (like Hoborg) created by Quater. The game's popularity, like The Neverhood, has long outlasted its availability in computer stores. As of 2007, the Internet is still full of very active 'fan websites' devoted to both games, and the soundtrack CD by Terry Scott Taylor, Imaginarium: Songs from the Neverhood, continues to sell well.
