It has the two things that America is obsessed with. Lavish spending and jailbait.

I was venturing into this thread to make an IGK joke but it seems you've beaten me to the proverbial punch.
As a consolation prize, I dare you to click my sig.

I thought Rob & Big was going to be stupid, then I watched a few episodes. They're so funny, they're rapport with one another is awesome. I like how Rob is constantly cracking on Big for his size, obvious jokes...but still funny because Big could crush him so easily

So, what do you think, what's the purpose of the show? |
make middle class girls believe that they have miserable lives. i saw it once and i wanted to kick in a girl's vag so that her clit would tickle her tonsiles.
srsly, if it irritates you so much, why would watch it more than once?

Anyone who thinks the kids on sweet 16 are spoilt is just jealous.
Posted by lcid on Jan-30-2008 22:50:
if MTV is running a marathon of America's Next Top Model, i will not change the channel.
well, unless Rob comes into the living room. then i get all bashful and hand him the remote and tell him he can put something else on besides "this garbage"...
(but i secretly love it!)

rob & big is completely scripted and they're not friends in real life, if i recall correctly.
Posted by jupiterone on Jan-30-2008 22:57:
isn't everything on mtv scripted? the most standout scripted show would have to be parental control.

I don't know why it is, but when I read that I laughed so hard.
Now for some reason I hope they really aren't friends at all, and I had never even heard of these people until this thread.

Scripted- true (as far as the situations but the dialogue is improved)
Not friends - False

lol, i have a pretty low tolerance for most "bad" TV shows... but man, something about those 2 just sucks me in.
granted, i won't rush home on whatever night they're on just so i can catch the new episode. i'm more of a casual "well i'm hungover and there's a marathon of this on and OMG I CAN'T STOP WATCHING!" kind of viewer.

Like I ever believed any of that nonsense
Sometimes I feel like I'm in an epic battle for your love with Tyra Banks - and it's weird, because sometimes it's thin Tyra Banks, and sometimes it's fatTyra Banks, & it all gets very confusing.

I think everyone has their guilty shows, just like guilty music or movies...I actually like to watch "Hogan Knows Best" and after being forced to watch a "So you think you can dance?" marathon at my friend's house, now I like watching it. And that show "Dont forget the lyrics" for some odd reason if im switching channels, and I see it on, ill watch it to the very end.

Even if the show is interesting, once commercials hit I can't do it anymore. Tivo makes things somewhat bearable.

You just like all shitty TV don't you?
Posted by tubularbills on Jan-31-2008 01:51:
yeah, shows on MTV just get me all pissed off. its not a jealousy factor, its the fact that , like ygrene said, the kids have no humility. and they're so fucking spoiled that they don't have any discipline at all. it's all "ME ME ME ME MGIMME GIMME GIMME" and shit.
whenever i have kids, the first thing they're going to learn is the value of a dollar.

My strategy is if so happens that my kid grew up spoiled and down right disrespectful like on that show, is to give them a vacation present on their 16th birthday with a trip to some place nice like Australia or Tokyo, but instead have a connecting flight to Cambodia, or one of those other dirty, asian countries. Where I'll force them to work as a cheap labourer in a sweat shop at like 15 cents an hour for their entire summer break in between whatever grade they probably barely passed (best part is if they try to talk shit to you, you can hit them with a couple of back hands right in the public and no one will do anything). Then take everything they earned and bring it back to here to North America, and buy the exact item they spent all summer making (Nike shoes, some iPod device, etc.) at whatever unreasonable price the company puts it at. And if that dont work, nothing will...
