I've met alot of people from TA, and always found that their online persona an accurate measure of who they are in real life. People who are considerate and respectful in their posts are also in real life. People who are rude are also obnious and so on. |

i would honestly be interested in knowing the differing perceptions of people based on board vs. real life
i for one have no idea if people think im different? i think i know the majority of people in person so i don't even stop to think how i come across on here.
there is social politics though, that's for sure
yeah, laura. i would be interested too.
also has this ever happened to anyone:
you meet a person for the first time IRL and they tell you how they remember that post you made in that thread and it was so funny/mean/good/interesting (pick anyone of those) and it was something you hardly remember posting? which is funny because it totally proves that people judge you by what you write on here.
hahah I made lisa loo cry remember! I didn't even remember the thread let alone post! LOL
lisa loo let's get married

People who meet me for the first time in real life usually say, "Oh. I thought you were a total asshole!" just because of some of the things I say on here. You honestly can't judge someone's personality until you have spent a bit of time getting to know them in person.

I know I've said it time and time again, but based on some of the replies in this thread, it's worth saying again. If you act like a jackass on the internet, you can't use cop outs such as "it's just the internet" or "you take the internet too seriously". The internet is a means of communication. If I called someone up on the phone and acted like a jackass, "it's just the phone" would not be a valid excuse. I don't see why "it's just the internet" should be.
This is my reasoning for judging people based on what they post here. There are a couple of members on this board that continuously try to piss people and incite arguments for their own entertainment. I judge these people as not worth meeting, much less getting to know. I don't really care what they're like in person.
