I think you need to stop relating Hamilton Escarpment area to other club areas
O Lounge never attracts sketch... thus the basis of its appeal (other than solid music and talent that the promoters work hard to bring in)
Downtown is a totally different story... if there are stupid "tough guy" idiots around then yes, they will wander into clubs like 77 or Barcode and sometimes shit goes down
O Lounge doesn't fit into any of that... it is geographically a vast distance away from downtown and it's just a different venue. Extreme precautions are not needed ... it's a chill atmosphere where you can go out, listen to good music and not get felt up by a bouncer nor are you given accusing glances on your way in... that's just not how it works there.
Been going there for a while now and shit like this NEVER goes down
The situation was handled to the best of the ability of those present
Lets just hope that the OUT OF TOWN sketch stays away and we can all keep the party going
Poor Andy lol he looked so bewildered
lol at people being scared of the venue because of what happened. I think you need to understand that it could happen at ANY venue, regardless of the locations and how sketchy people are. Many people attend events, obviously there will be 1 or 2 people that just come there to start shit. I have worked the front door at clubs for over 3 years now and out of 700 people that walk in there will ALWAYS be that 1 or 2 that just don't want to be normal like everyone else. I've seen a guy break a bottle on a bouncers head, i've seen 2 people start a fight and fall down the stairs breaking bones ruining the vibe and party mood for everyone inside. It does not in any way relate to the club or the promoters, people need to realize that.
The club on the other hand needs to add some preventative measures for the future to avoid a similar breakout. In this case have a couple more bouncers in the place watching the crowd.

bad things happen that sometimes can not be stopped.
i have never had a bad time at O Lounge....nor a bad time in Hamilton. these boys work their hardest everytime they put on a party and much respect for that.
it is extremely unfortunate what happened last weekend- i had a bunch of friends there and anything could have happened....
but this could have very well happened while i was out in Toronto on Sunday night too.

| Originally posted by Owen M We have no association with Film lounge. Andy Moor was not scheduled to play at any after parties. Anything in the east end of Hamilton is...well...if you live in Hamilton you know what kind of parties happen there. There was no stabbing at O Lounge. Not during sunday wih Andy Moor, not even the day before (we were actually closed the night before Andy Moor). |

Gay-related? tell yah what, keep your assumptions to yourself. Dont assume shit when you know nothing about the city and because a question about girls wasnt answered, probably because the dude was to fucked up and chewing his face to answer or because no woman in her right mind would ever venture to those parts. Its a small place, there was three bouncers, myabe they needed one more but considering they have never had an incisdent in the last three years, it was fine. I feel safer in O lounge than any club I have gone into because of the party, the people, the staff, the promoters and especially the owner. The Owner called the cops, because he cares about his place and is tight with the regulars that go in there to enjoy a great time away from Toronto, the hub of electronic music. Dont believe everything you hear, especially from some sketch bag. Before you post your assumptions on a public forum which might make people think a certain way you should check your facts before posting negativity. |

i had no idea that "certain types of parties" happened in the east end, and i've lived in hamilton my whole life.
as a matter of fact, i didn't even know that ANY parties happened in the east end, all i can remember is the roxbury, and thats going back a few years.
*side note*
think we all need a Chil-laxitive

also, i'd like to say that i have never, ever had a bad time at O lounge, the crowd is very very friendly, bar service is impeccable and the venue itself is very cozy. I can remember when Chris lake was there, i walked to the front door, and owen was there, so i says "hey, i just bought my tix today, wanted to get them and come in". he says "sure john, one sec."
i didn't tell him my name, or anything, and i don't know about you guys, but to me, that is a very good trait to have as a club promoter. the fact that he remembered my name has stuck out in my mind since it happened, and i have brought many friends to o lounge as a result of it, and not heard a single complaint.
actually, the only complaint i have is that the tap water in the bathroom is too hot..but, that is neither here nor there.
