I think you need to stop relating Hamilton Escarpment area to other club areas
O Lounge never attracts sketch... thus the basis of its appeal (other than solid music and talent that the promoters work hard to bring in)

Downtown is a totally different story... if there are stupid "tough guy" idiots around then yes, they will wander into clubs like 77 or Barcode and sometimes shit goes down

O Lounge doesn't fit into any of that... it is geographically a vast distance away from downtown and it's just a different venue. Extreme precautions are not needed ... it's a chill atmosphere where you can go out, listen to good music and not get felt up by a bouncer nor are you given accusing glances on your way in... that's just not how it works there.
Been going there for a while now and shit like this NEVER goes down
The situation was handled to the best of the ability of those present
Lets just hope that the OUT OF TOWN sketch stays away and we can all keep the party going Poor Andy lol he looked so bewildered

lol at people being scared of the venue because of what happened. I think you need to understand that it could happen at ANY venue, regardless of the locations and how sketchy people are. Many people attend events, obviously there will be 1 or 2 people that just come there to start shit. I have worked the front door at clubs for over 3 years now and out of 700 people that walk in there will ALWAYS be that 1 or 2 that just don't want to be normal like everyone else. I've seen a guy break a bottle on a bouncers head, i've seen 2 people start a fight and fall down the stairs breaking bones ruining the vibe and party mood for everyone inside. It does not in any way relate to the club or the promoters, people need to realize that.
The club on the other hand needs to add some preventative measures for the future to avoid a similar breakout. In this case have a couple more bouncers in the place watching the crowd.

Our problem is fairly small. The only people that seem to be flamming out of control are people who have never been to our home club, or any Nightdreamer events outside of O Lounge at Sizzle/Koi or Absinthe. We've received numerous e-mails and phone calls from people who were in attendance as well as people who were not at the Andy Moor event. They're all showing concern for our staff and fellow friends as well as expressing their support for us.

bad things happen that sometimes can not be stopped.

i have never had a bad time at O Lounge....nor a bad time in Hamilton. these boys work their hardest everytime they put on a party and much respect for that.

it is extremely unfortunate what happened last weekend- i had a bunch of friends there and anything could have happened....

but this could have very well happened while i was out in Toronto on Sunday night too.

We have no association with Film lounge. Andy Moor was not scheduled to play at any after parties. Anything in the east end of Hamilton is...well...if you live in Hamilton you know what kind of parties happen there.

There was no stabbing at O Lounge. Not during sunday wih Andy Moor, not even the day before (we were actually closed the night before Andy Moor).

i didnt say u guys had any connections with Film....of course andy wasnt scheduled for any after party u juss end up at an after party thats y its the after party....i dont know wat goes down in the east end....but im assuming its gay-related....which makes lots of sense cause i asked the guy if there was goin to be any women there and he kind of dodged the question, which was the reason we didnt go.....
straight up O lounge needs atleast 5 bouncers for a 200capacity....
hey a clubs rep can go up if there was an incident there....a bouncer got shot at Guvy and now its the #18th ranked club in the world.....hahahahaha

wow that is the most retarded thing I have heard

- Hey I got a great idea!!

- Whats that?

- lets go to Guv cause i heard someone got shot there

- wow, really, that place is so cool!

and the east side has nothing to do with gays, it has to do with low life idiots that have no regard for human life.

Gay-related? tell yah what, keep your assumptions to yourself. Dont assume shit when you know nothing about the city and because a question about girls wasnt answered, probably because the dude was to fucked up and chewing his face to answer or because no woman in her right mind would ever venture to those parts.

Its a small place, there was three bouncers, myabe they needed one more but considering they have never had an incisdent in the last three years, it was fine.

I feel safer in O lounge than any club I have gone into because of the party, the people, the staff, the promoters and especially the owner. The Owner called the cops, because he cares about his place and is tight with the regulars that go in there to enjoy a great time away from Toronto, the hub of electronic music.

Dont believe everything you hear, especially from some sketch bag. Before you post your assumptions on a public forum which might make people think a certain way you should check your facts before posting negativity.

yeah, it's pretty fuckin disgusting... i stay away from there as much as possible, but had to drive through almost every day when i was working at dofasco. one time near kenilworth and barton i was at a stop light beside a shitty abandoned building, the front door creaks open and a toddler starts stumbling out. then an arm reaches out and grabs the kid bringing them back in, and i can clearly see a group of 4-5 junkies sitting down on the floor in a circle in the dark

and yeah, i wanna repeat that the situation on sunday was handled well... this wouldn't stop me from coming to o lounge again, this could have happened if those idiots showed up at any club. even if there were more bouncers, one could have still gotten hurt with those tools flailing their fists around and it would have had the same consequences for the event...

you do know that your rumour mongering may cause irreparable harm to a business of a fellow TA?

you're quite welcome to post your opinions.

but when you get called on for your rumours, and get slapped by the facts of the case, then learn your lesson. get your facts straight before posting stuff like this

I was hittin on the point that you make Owen look anti-gay just by him saying "Anything in the east end of Hamilton is...well...if you live in Hamilton you know what kind of parties happen there." We are in a society that doesnt seperate people like that, people are the same, gays, non-gays, people of all color, there are just bad apples outta those groups. By you assuming that he meant that is ignorant.

that was my point your assumtions were off and shouldnt have been posted especially in a negative manner as it was.

I dont want your forgivness, its worthless.

As for the douchebag comment, LOL. hurts so much.

Plus, if you dont like the DOUCHEBAGS of trance addict then dont post or come on here, thanks.

You don't understand.
THAT'S NOT UPPER HAMILTON.
That's not the crowd that frequents O Lounge.
I think a lot of people agree with me that it's really effin awesome to go to a place where the atmospere is so chillax that you don't have to worry about shit like that. You just don't.

So f*ck the deliquents who tainted that on Sunday night - but it doens't mean that anything has changed.

Posted by Batman84 on Feb-21-2008 23:10:

i had no idea that "certain types of parties" happened in the east end, and i've lived in hamilton my whole life.
as a matter of fact, i didn't even know that ANY parties happened in the east end, all i can remember is the roxbury, and thats going back a few years.

*side note*
think we all need a Chil-laxitive

also, i'd like to say that i have never, ever had a bad time at O lounge, the crowd is very very friendly, bar service is impeccable and the venue itself is very cozy. I can remember when Chris lake was there, i walked to the front door, and owen was there, so i says "hey, i just bought my tix today, wanted to get them and come in". he says "sure john, one sec."
i didn't tell him my name, or anything, and i don't know about you guys, but to me, that is a very good trait to have as a club promoter. the fact that he remembered my name has stuck out in my mind since it happened, and i have brought many friends to o lounge as a result of it, and not heard a single complaint.

actually, the only complaint i have is that the tap water in the bathroom is too hot..but, that is neither here nor there.
