wow, ive never heard of the monitor tilting down for tear purposes before... i guess most of us really take this stuff for granted.

its interesting also (just on the subject of CTS) that a lot of peopel think computer is the only thing that causes this. when i posted this on another board, someone responded saying "oh, well i do other stuff to relieve the strain of typing, such as lots of rock climbing, etc etc"... she wasnt aware of the fact that rock climbing is notorious for causing CTS and/or tendonitis. yet one more myth that should be dispelled..

There are actually desks where the flat part where you would ordinarily put your CRT is made out of glass. Instead, you would put your CRT in a tilted rack, and look *DOWN* at the monitor, through the glass. Novelty or legit reason? Not sure, but now that you mention the tear thing..

I don't know if this was already mentioned, but there is something about RSI that is not generally understood, and that is that in order to get it, you have to actually be predisposed to the condition. I believe it has something to do with the thyroid but I could be wrong. Lots of people are predisposed, but some people will never get it no matter how hard they are on their wrists (they might get sore and stuff if it's really bad, but they get better in a couple days).

Note that this ISN'T designed to make any of you think you're immune and shouldn't take precautions - rather I'm trying to say that just because your friend types 24/7 and is fine, doesn't mean you can do the same thing and be fine! So be careful!

While it is generally accepted that using a computer is notorious for causing RSI's the mode is not fully understood. Buying yourself a carpal tunnel keyboard and using correct typing posture may or may not save you from the displeasure of ending up with an RSI. the amount of pressure you use for typing is thought to have to do a lot with it, most people don't realize it, but they press the keys *very* hard. There are very very expensive keyboards you can buy that virtually eliminate typing impact. they cost somewhere in the range of 800-1300 USD depending on which company / modle you get. http://www.datahand.com/products/personal.htm ... If i was in the IT industry I would definitely invest in one of these, or if I was on the computer a good portion of my day (more than four hours)... It will save you money in the long run =)

How the heck does that keyboard work??
