While I'm not completely positive I believe in ghosts. I do believe the possibility is out there. I've always LOVED ghost stories and stories about haunted places. GREAT thread MK. As much as I want to believe in paranormal activity I don't think its something I can fully believe in until something happens to me.

Me too. I can't do horror movies.

I've always been one of the more skeptical folks out there, but I've seen and heard some things in the last ten years that didn't so much scare me, just made me wonder.

Things do *not* seem to stay fixed on my walls - Anyone who's visited my place knows I've got some important things to me up on the walls (be it art, vinyls, whatever). Every few months, I'll wake up and everything (without fail) is tilted - I've had to replace the frame to not only my No One On Earth vinyl, but a company excellence citation as well due to them leaping (yes.. leaping) off the wall - Although the vinyl came straight down, the citation landed broken three feet from the base of the wall.

Genuinely creepy stuff at times, as this once happened with a caribbean leather mask I have mounted on my wall and it woke me up, but luckily not my ex who was sleeping soundly beside me. I had a lot to drink that night and didn't really make sense of it until the morning and didn't really feel the need to bring it up (ps, hey honey - the place is haunted!).

No ghostly figures, whispers or other phenomena - Yet. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Just to elaborate on what afterhrsgurl mentioned, Dead Time or The Devil's / Witching Hour is basically a twist on when Christ supposedly died on the Cross, which was 3:00 in the afternoon - Thus making the spirit world more active in that hour.

You've made a logical error here, Yohan. The believe in one supernatural entity does not necessitate the belief in all supernatural entities. It is quite possible to believe in a god(s) and an afterlife without believing that the disembodied spirits of humans remain bound to the earth following death. BTW, the Holy Spirit should not be considered a spirit that walks the earth in the same manner one would think of a ghost... it is the more accurately described as the spark of the devine that rests within all of us.

I believe it's in 1 Kings where Saul goes to talk to a witch who communicates with the spirits...

Now whether this happened literally or not is up to debate, but this seems to strongly suggest to me that some sort of supernatural being (ie ghosts) may indeed exist

And in 2000 years what will the skeptics say? This psychic or witch was from a place once called Toronto, her visions were likely linked to crack or crystal meth as she live in the downtown core??

The thing is people who believe in this stuff believe in God or Satan usually belonging to a religious denomination, God fearing or Satan Worshiping. We can't see either of these beings, but are they ghosts? not necessarily...it's a belief...people, skeptics like to crush with theories that science proves that 2000 yrs ago blah blah, we still don't even know how long the earth's been around and that idea has changed a few times in my life and I'm only 24.

Science is not always definite.

There are of course always room for a hoax for explanation.

I don't know maybe you don't believe in God and it's not my business. Science has umpteen theories as to why a God dosen't exist. Still they haven't proved a higher being does not exist.

The best term for religion IMO is FAITH. It's based nothing but on emotions, idea's and hope to name a few.

We believe in "God" and "Ghosts". Science believes there are extra terrestrial beings, none of which I've ever seen so I guess they aren't real and the guys at nasa are smoking too many mushrooms again and watching close encounters of the 3rd similar to the scriptures in Samuel...I'm a skeptic of that...science has certainly failed before it fails daily, it's a dirty business...take the medicinal field for example.

I thoroughly enjoy reading your comments. My sister has a ba in world religions but has failed to educate me in 10 years as much as you have with roughly 10 posts.

Clearly, you don't get to the c0r or PDD often, as I'm usually the mouth-piece for theism in any religous toned thread in those forums. I'm a devout Roman Catholic, a faith I came to after many years of researching a number of faiths (not just abrihamic). You mentioned earlier that you are also RC; however, you state you believe in ghosts... this is inconsistant as our faith leaves no room for spirits wondering the eath... god: yes, angels: yes, demons: possibly, ghosts: no.
