John O'Callaghan feat. Audrey Gallagher - Big Sky (Agnelli & Nelson Remix) [Armind] [Tune Of The Year]
no 2 Armin Van Buuren vs. Rank 1 feat. Kush - This World Is Watching Me (Cosmic Gate Remix) [Armind]
Filo & Peri feat. Eric Lumiere - Anthem (Original Vocal Mix)

thats his taste any more examples?

Personaly I think in most cases vocals don't fit in trance music, hence I don't like it (most of the time). There are some exeptions which I do like. So I can appreciate some good qualitative vocal trance, but this is running more and more scarce.

What I utterly dislike, is the kind of pop trance Armin has mad the last couple of years ... tracks like "Love You More" and "Saturday Night" are just aweful. Even the last non-vocal tracks Armin made didn't really do much for me. So keeping all of this in mind and seeing the amount of vocals, the chances will be great I'll find his new album even more aweful as his previous one.

Hm, I did plan on staying out of this because I usually live by the 'to each his own' model... but then I thought of that xkcd comic of someone being wrong in the Internet, and I thought I should chime in.

Firstly, I think people are able to get a general idea of things without experiencing them. I know that many people like heavy metal music. I have listened to heavy metal music before, and I never liked it. Therefore, I am fairly safe in saying I won't like a heavy metal album by many artists.

I used to listen to Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, and yes, let me publicly say it, Tiesto. I started fading away from Tiesto first, then Paul, then Armin. I just couldn't stand their music anymore. I found it all to be the same, it never changed. Then I just realized I couldn't listen to trance as a whole anymore. It just doesn't do anything for me. I like techno, progressive house, tech-house, ambient, and dubstep.

I know that if I were to listen to this CD I wouldn't mind it, even with all the vocals. I'm sure it'd be fine, but it just isn't something I would want to sit and listen through the whole thing. I think there is a lot better music out there than what nearly all trance producers put out there.

You can dislike something if you have experience around it, and I am pretty sure most people here have listened to trance before.

maybe if he waited and released this tracklist on april first

has there been any good vocal trance lately? I've been a little out of the ASOT loop but when I think about vocal shit like 'Going Wrong', 'Big Sky', 'Anthem', 'Love You More', 'Till The Sky Falls Down' 'Falling', etc, it just makes me cringe that this sing along vocal dance pop, albeit very well-produced sometimes, has taken over the genre I love and the one that got me into this whole EDM thing in the first place. And Armin was a big part of that.

I enjoyed the Jennifer Rene / Jonas Steur collab from last year, that's about all I can think of recently.

If this is good I will be shocked just because of all the 'ft'. OTOH, tons of people / noobs will probably eat this shit up and if armin sells some albums and has a great tour, than congrats to him. But at least let us rip him to shreds on TA if he deserves it.

Oh, and Armin has produced better music than I ever will, and I can still criticise this tracklist with a clear conscience.

oh, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE vocals in music, I'm listening to Sufjan Stevens' first album right right now for goodness sake. Just not usually in trance.

In my opinion ISOS 6 had some decent vocal trance (including Fall To Pieces). But at most all trance with vocals are nowadays just horrible.

Lustral - Everytime (Randy Boyer & Eric Tadla Remix)
Lustral - My Satellite Falls Down (Terry Bones Remix)

Awesome tracks.

I do enjoy male vocals better than female. Maybe it provides a less "Sailor Moon" atmosphere.

It sucks in advance with al these vocals.

Posted by Meat187 on Mar-23-2008 12:15:

So far I've only heard "Going wrong" and indeed something went wrong there. DJ Shah has put out many great tracks last year, but this collaboration with Armin turned out to be absolutely shit.

Well, at least the rest of the album can only be better than that, right?

Right?

Right?

FACT 1: the current trance scene is flooded with crappy vocal trance tracks (which imo can't even be called trance, it's just an insult for the whole genre)
FACT 2: Armin his previous vocal trance tracks were just aweful
FACT 3: Armin his new CD consist of 8 vocal tracks out of 11
FACT 4: I don't like vocals, in ANY kind of music ... there are some exceptions, also in trance, but most of them are older tracks and aren't tracks from Armin

logical conclusion: I (that is ME) won't like the album, this has nothing to do what other people like or say.

What the deuce? I agree with whoever said Armin should pick up the mic himself and sing. This is horrible.
