Ok, the TTC union tends to stir up a lot of shit, but really people...if you think corporations are the ones who fought for realistic working weeks, job security, health benefits and worker's right to things like safety, etc...then you need some serious wake up calls. There was a reason for the formation of unions and mass general strikes in the western world during the last two centuries. Read some fucking history. |

In some work environments (such as industry, public service) still require unions because corporations are always looking for ways to fuck their workers. Believe me, I've seen it first hand. Five years ago when I had my city job in London I was looking after a facility during a lacrosse tournament. Some kid got his face smashed with a stick and there was blood all over the glass and floor and it was my job to clean it up. Trouble is there were no latex/rubber gloves that I could use so I refused to do it. My supervisor went ape shit after the coaches bitched so I called my union/HS rep and he came down. Turns out that kid had fucking Hep C and my "serve the corporation at all cost" boss didn't care if I was protected or not. That kind of shit happens all the time in the work industry. In some environments (offices, etc), unions are perhaps not necessary but my mother is a prime example of someone who has a good job but no job protection at all and could be walked out at a minute's notice if they find someone younger or want to cut costs. And some unions (like the TTC) are far too stubborn but the moment you take the right to organise away is just another liberty being eliminated. Corporations already run our fucking lives...you want to hand them an entirely unprotected workforce? I thought you loved civil liberties Jay? |

If they are losing precious dollars, they don't know how to shut the fuck up. Seriously, I think TOTA is only place in the world that would compain about a MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE. |

Whats New..
TTC is a joke. It lacks efficiency, cleanliness, quality service and its pricey as hell, and on top of all that the management has their head in the sand (figures, we live in toronto!!).
To the best of my knowledge we are one of the only major cities in the world that doesn't provide a direct commute from the airport to the city.
Solution = Hire an immigrant.
Solution = stop wasting tax money on pet prjects and get back to funding infrastructure. Also it's time to get the unions under some degree of control.
are we still striking?

My friends dad has some sort of management position with TTC, makes good money.
Stays home half the time,takes it easy.
Another person I know, she's engineer at the company and they do some work for TTC. She said whenever they get any projects with them TTC goes crazy on spending money on some useless sh*t. For example they build garage, and TTC would request some additional stuff at crazy cost which is completely not necessary.
waterfronter's do any of you notice that the street cars are taking like 20 minutes-30 minutes extra in the morining to arrive?
i think toronto is the only city in the world that has to state whether or not the public transport is running in the morning.... ITs funny how on the news in the morning they will ALWAYS mention that.. TTC running normal... no shit its suppose to be running normal... what a fucked up city where hundreds of thousands of people cannot rely on the public transit.
P.S.: Fuck unions
