Then you've probably never seen Sean Tyas tracklists

does anyone still have that pic of the "gabriel & dresden tune creator program", with the check boxes and stuff for pop musicians etc? i thought it was great lol

I agree that at the end they were kind of boring but still will be missed. I liked their remixes more than their original productions.

Yeah, they did have a lot of remixes and re-edits, but it's the essential point that you can't seem to look up a G&D tracklisting without seeing their names on 75 percent of the tracks, either before or after the track title.

Take a look at this tracklisting (I think it may have been one of their NYC gigs):

01. Depeche Mode - Here Is The House (Gabriel & Dresden Bootleg)
02. Beber & Tamra - Travelling On (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
03. Coldplay - White Shadows (Gabriel & Dresden Bootleg)
04. Gabriel & Dresden - Arcadia
05. Booka Shade - Mandarine Girl
06. Rachael Starr - Till There Was You (Gabriel & Dresden Fluffo Mix)
07. Ozgur Can - Changed (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
08. Moby - Running Again (Steve Angello Remix)
09. Gabriel & Dresden - Portobello
10. Markus Schulz feat Departure - Without You Near
11. Armin Van Buuren feat Gabriel & Dresden - Zocalo
12. Above & Beyond - No One On Earth (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
13. Eye Wall - Bad Deal (Remy & Roland Klinkenberg Remix)
14. Motorcycle - My Blue Heart (Gabriel & Dresden Chocolate Popart Dub)
15. Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Gabriel & Dresden Sweeping Strings Mix)
16. Deep Dish - Say Hello (Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso Remix)
17. Perasma - Swing To Harmony (Gabriel & Dresden Club Mix)
18. Andy Moor - Halcyon
19. Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun (Gabriel & Dresden Chillout Mix)
20. Andain - Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden Unplugged Mix)
21. ID
22. Bigtop - Sub
23. Josh Gabriel - Alive
24. Kay D Smith & Marc Tall pres. Passive Resistance - Praiseworthy Tunes (Hoipolloi Mix)
25. Dido - Don't Leave Home (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
26. Motorcycle - Around You (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
27. Nicole Spoonberg - Resurection (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)

In retrospect, G&D are by no means the only people guilty of this, and I'm sure the overwhelming majority people in the crowd found it to be a blast, but seriously...what a joke.
10. Markus Schulz feat Departure - Without You Near

You sure the Markus Schulz track wasn't the Gabriel & Dresden Remix?

I don't know, I've been a fan of quite a few G&D tracks over the years...
Swing 2 Harmony (G&D remix)
Arcadia
Till There Was You (G&D remix)
and recently the killer's remix of Read My Mind i thought was fairly well done.

All their stuff wasn't great, but overall I think they produced some pretty good music.

Lament
Pavement Cracks (Gabriel & Dresden Club Mix)

pretty much fast downhill after that and rock fucking bottom with TTD

Posted by miamitranceman on Mar-30-2008 23:55:

Their best track was Nicole Spomberg - Resurrection (G&D Remix).

Armin hammered that one on ASOT back in the day.

There is no Gabriel & Dresden remix. The version commonly mistakenly called the G&D remix is the Original Mix. G&D produced the track (ie. Markus & Depature went to G&D's studio in just outside San Francisco and worked with G&D as G&D produced the track...) and after the world was told this when it was first starting to be played, people for some reason starting calling it the G&D remix when that's not the case....it might be their mix of the song, but officially is't the Original Mix.

There are a couple of vinyl releases that cite a "Gabriel & Dresden remix" in the tracklisting, though I'm not sure if they're talking about the unplugged mix they did.

Anyway, I think the official track title reads "Markus Schulz feat. Departure with Gabriel & Dresden- Without You Near"

Quite a mouthful for a stand-alone title, and is especially so with this remix title:

Markus Schulz feat. Departure with Gabriel & Dresden- Without You Near (Alex M.O.R.P.H's Sacred Light remix).

http://www.discogs.com/release/526032

It clearly states "Gabriel & Dresden Mix"

Well, I liked them a couple years ago, but recently the sets were a bit blah. Maybe they were bored with working together, who knows. The pix of them always looked so sad. So, either they will go different ways and work harder to get back to where they were, or move on to other things.

2. it's discogs.

Lots of great tracks in the 2001-2003 days but the newer breed of stuff (I guess ever since Tracking Treasure Down) just wasn't that great... Saw them spin at Pacha last October and it was one of the most boring sets I've ever heard, they did not know how to build momentum at all, the second they started looking like they were going somewhere and building up, they'd bring things down with dull as fuck minimal.

Posted by Clovis on Apr-02-2008 19:09:

Great news!

Posted by Trojanman on Apr-03-2008 00:10:

when i first heard their essential mix from 2003 i loved it but i heard it the other day and i noticed how dull it was..

i met them the first time they played at space and dave dresden looked drunk as f*ck!!.josh gabriel was the kool one ..not too drunk lol

then last year after armin at pawnshop they were setting up and i siad whats up to them and DD looked f*cked up again.. i told them i hadnt seen them since 04 and Dresden said "were much better". and i thought to myself...i dont think so

drugs and alcohol usually strain musical relationships.

I think the '03 EM is great, especially with the unreleased version of "Alive." (that was quite the controversy back in the day).

Yeah that one sticks out in my cd binder because my hand cramped up halfway through writing the title (and label) on the CD

One of my all-time favorite essential mixes. 03 was quite a year for them.

1. People often say remix instead of mix and vice versa. And in this case Gabriel & Dresden remix is more accurate than Original Mix
2. No, it's not. I have the vinyl at home.

@Alive: The released version was a huge disappointment compared to the one from the 03 Essential Mix
