Howells killed it at SET. He laid down some great techno.
Digweed's set at Vagabond was very good.
But the surprise set of the conference for me was Justin Martin at the Dirtybird Afterparty @ Studio A. He was on point track after track. Some of the sickest basslines I have ever heard. And anytime you have a club of people whistling to your track you have to be doing something right. I have liked his mixes for a few years now and am really glad I got a chance to hear him live. When he dropped his new track Ghetto Train it was insane. Check it out.

Most disappointing.
Pacha pool party at Shelborne. Swedish house mafia left much to be desired. Kept playing old tracks I have heard countless times. Expected fresh new tracks during WMC. Guess they were playing the crowd but the group of 14 I was with were all bored. Not terrible but not nowhere near as good as we all hoped. The worst part was we passed on the Sasha and Digweed boat party since we figured the boat party was only 4 hours and the pool party was 11. Biggest mistake of WMC 2008.

| Originally posted by entro okay, maybe I was a little uncompromising. I drink water out of the sinks in the bathroom and pregame plenty before the club, lol. All I mean is if you're going there to see huge name DJs (who, for many people, are their favorite) you simply can't do that on a small budget. |
Pro's
+Digweed @ Vagabond - Fking Memorable set and great atmosphere
+Paolo Mojo/Prydz @ Prydz's Playground aka Terrace - Combination of nasty beats and craziness made for a great terrace experience..
+SVD @ Space - Massive 2 hours - All Bombs/No Fluff
+COX @ Ultra - Wow.. He can still bring the pain.. Total Mindfk in the Tent..
+++ Burridge/Lawler/MANDY @ Ultra Day 1 - Chaos for 3 hours straight.. The Amnesia Ibiza arena was a great environment for such good talent..
Con's
-AM Only Party @ Karu and Y - Except for Diggers/Misstress Barbara/Marco V and a few others, the night felt rushed and all the DJ's didn't have time to play to the crowd.. plus the venue was wayyy packed and it was impossible to get around.. I expected a better outcome...
-Ferry @ Space - Its REALLY hard to follow up on 2 hours of pure tech nastiness with euphoric uplifting trance.. REALLY REALLY HARD...
-Three/Radioslave @ Pwn Shop - Slow with no build up.. Overall boring sets.. Makes me not want to come early to conference ever again...
-Sasha/Diggers @ Ultra - Honestly.. It wasn't a BAD set.. but I fell asleep.. So they weren't doing something right...
Notable Mentions
*Droog @ Pwn Shop/Townhouse Rooftop - Really Cool guys played so sick as minimal/tech sounds.. Hope they make it out on tour.. Their promo is amazing!!!
*Cobblestone Jazz @ Pwn Shop - These guys kno how to get the crowd going.. They were basically rioting to their ch00ns.. Crazy piano's and synths with vocals made for a crazy show..
*Elevation @ AUDIOFILES - Markus needs to let him out of the studio.. This man knows how to bring the pain..
*Underworld @ Ultra - WOW.. Great Live Show.. Really Psychedelic.. Great hearing Beautiful Burnout and Crocodile.. but no Born Slippy?

Disappointed --
Danny T (ZzzzzZzzzz)
the entire Get Physical party (this was my favorite party last year. I was looking forward to it again so much. no one could mix worth a damn)
the entire Downtown Riot party (ugh, again... no one could mix. what's the deal!? trainwreck after trainwreck after trainwreck)
Scooter & Lavelle (wasn't expecting much but I fell literally asleep. sucked so hard)
Awsome
SvD @ Space
Guetta @ Space -> not my style, but awsome party
Deep Dish @ Surfcomber Radio One Party
Deep Dish Yoshiotoshi Party
Chus in the Mainroom at space.
Sucked Badly
Ferry's entire set @ Space
Prydz on the terrace
Morillo on the Terrace
I can't believe no one's said this yet, but..
Drumcode with Adam Beyer et al. was fucking UNBELIEVABLE. B.E.D. sucked because of the way they had the VIP sections set up (waitresses walking through the dance floor the whole damn night), but the sets? WOW. WOW WOW WOW. BLOWN AWAY.
Kompakt vs. RA was great too- especially the vibe there, everyone was so into it.

| Originally posted by gypsygirl i won't say lawler's set sucked, love him too much but yeah, it definitely wasn't like last years set! and yes the guy singing in the middle of lawler's set completely killed the vibe. steve tried to come back in and bring it up and with some tracks he was able to salvage some of the vibe but it just wasn't up to par with last year. but still any night with steve is better than no steve at all, imo anyways, sets of conference for me were joel mull/adam beyer ssfd, marco corolo and loco dice ssfd, sander k. killed the terrace, that track that built like an airplane engine going off just destroyed me!!! of course i loved lee burridge's set but it wasn't insane, but good! disappointments: all the djs except mark knight for the day party of juicy at nikki beach and yes bbc radio one was a huge let down after all i've heard about that party. but whatevers, out in the sun with friends and a great buzz going all day sure beats the hell out of other things i could be doing. i don't know, i just make my own fun, and if it sucks really bad i just go find another party like i did sunday night, just bounced from one party to another. good thing ladies were free at a couple parties i went to all around so much fun and very few disappointments, i mean i was in miami having fun, ehhh didn't suck |
