You guys have listed most of the quality artists out there...

There are a few others to check out.

system nipel - are another quality psy act, russian born dudes moved to Israel, why? NFI!

DJ Akai (Jap dj: djakai on myspace) and DJ DA LA(swede psy) are two awesome psy dj's.....they're mixes so far have all been insane. Check their stuff out at their respective sites

Joti Sidhu would have to be one the best i've heard live in ages, his set at Rainbow last year was nothing short of amazing...

It's such an exciting genre, always changing.

It's prog house/electro, yes, but it's not shitty at all.

Posted by Anomyst on Apr-22-2008 07:01:

not a fan of any of the electro stuff thats found its way into psy, i just dont think its very psychedelic at all, not very organic also dont like guitar riffs that much unless its live.

but thats just me, its pretty popular though. loved ticons zero six after album! this one was not what i was expecting though.

Yeah, I hate electro in psy too. Not a fan of newer Astrix at all for this reason.

The Ticon album isn't psy at all though. It's electro house, progressive and tech-house.

that is the problem, so much was expected from this new album and it failed on a major scale. i am all for artist progression but this album is a downturn imo.

I know what you mean.

R.I.P Domestic

Ido Ophir has gone to electro-house.

just a question for you psy heads - do you guys still consider d-nox and beckers and dousk to still be in the prog psy realm?

yeah but good progressive is psychedelic enough, as is alot of the nice minimal techno and tech house, everything sounds spacey and nice in the bush, and always will but i wouldn't sub catergorise it to psy-prog, artists like Sun contole species and ace ventura would be the psy prog

i dunno. its all mad!

Love all three of those producers. No, I don't consider them psy at all.

Seven Hours is the shit.

5 new CDs just rocked up from psy shop today. Another nice surprise.

Techno is hypnotic not psychedelic.

not a bad point there actually

...so being hypnotised into an emotional or psychedelic state would be a trance?

psychedelic or emotional techno = trance ?

dunno - ill end my hijack here tho

Someone say hijack? Shit i'm not ready .. wait ..

ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Fuck .. Bomb didn't work, all well

Posted by Darkarbiter on Apr-23-2008 12:12:

Well trance can only be experienced between about 135-150 bpm (varies between different people). Anyway psy/goa trance is usually psychedelic (or at least the good stuff anyway) as well as trancey (far more so with oldschool goa trance) but it isn't hypnotic just like techno isn't trancey/psychedelic.

You guys should have a listen to:

The Shadow of the Beast (Psypilot Remix) - Logic Bomb

...its outhere and it is alive!

I am really loving GTG, who would you recommend that is simialr to J00F?

The same energy, melody and crazy vocals?

Sorry mate, we've been looking for years to find alternatives but to no avail. GTG is the definate benchmark and the perfect entry point for anyone wanting to explore and deepen on the progression of Trance.

I guess d-nox and beckers would be part of the psy-scene - though in terms of musical style, they would be just off the borderline. I was quite suprised during their peak with Jetlag and so forth, that people would deem it psy-prog?
One of the main reasonings behind this I think, would be that they share stages with quite a number of psy-prog acts/DJs which not to mention also play at many psy-orientated festivals/events. To top things off, psy labels would release compilations with them being included on the tracklist AND have psy artists remix their tracks! You could call them psy-prog's distant cousins!

I would not consider Dousk as psy-prog but more of lost language-ish proghouse. Producers like Liquid Soul would be more of a classic or sterotypical example of psy-prog imo.

There seems to be quite alot of artists being thrown into the whole psy label nowadays and I guess it's just a show of how much it has grown and popularized [if that's even a word].

Sounds plausible. I'll go with it...
