I really don't think he got to where he is now because he doesn't know how to read the crowd. A lot of DJs know how to play the popular tunes, but not many DJs know exactly when to play certain tunes like Armin does.

That's where the preparation comes in hand, dropping those tracks that he knows will go well. His Armin Only set for example, a lot of it was very similar to his other sets in terms of which tracks were played when. He is most certianly not gonna go in there and just start dropping random tracks, it's not so much as 'reading the crowd' as it is knowing what tracks will go well with the crowd.

Usually what happens is the crowd recognizes the track as its being cued in, you get the wooos and the cheers, then silence, then the break comes and more cheers and woos, then silence, then the anticipation for the climax which proceeds with more whoos and then silence until the next track

he'd know somewhat in advance about what set the crowd is going to be into from the type of event and whoever else is playing before him, but he'd still have to read the room to a degree, and though he may know the key tracks that he wants to play, how he constructs the whole set is a different matter. it's pre-planning as opposed to programming, not like oakenfold: my 90 minute set list =..........

Oh god no. If Z103.5 gets hang of this, there is no chance real armin fans are going to be able to get tix

So I just called Ultra Supper club, the gentleman that picked up the phone said they don't know for sure yet whether the tickets will be available publically or any info like that. He said they'll find out at the end of the week. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
