Did anyone notice that they raised their prices when minimum wage went up? I thought this to be be pretty retarded.

BTW I'll have a venti cinnimon non fat dolce chai late with whipped cream (with elevated pitch). I seriously think being gay is an employment prerequisite at Starbucks.

They needed a way to compensate for the increase. Also, the price of coffee beans has gone up in Ontario, which was also a factor in the increase of prices.

how is it retarded? Everyone has raised their prices because the wage increase has to be paid for somehow! This is why dalton's idea of 10.25 per hour by 2010 is going to hurt everyone more than it will help.

Goodness. Well it was already established that Starbucks employees don't get paid minimum wage - unless they got an increase aswell - but i doubt that.

I understand if they are paid minimum - the company needs to keep their margins. But to me its just a good excuse to increase profits. I do accept the "coffee" is a comodity and prices have gone up but that is not the line that was fed to me when I noticded.

Honestly I don't care it's a few cents I just thought it was interesting.

Of course cost increase will be passed on to the consumer and yes the motive is to keep up the profits. Profits are why businesses are in bussiness. Starbucks wasnt opened so that fine folk could be supplied with coffee at a subsidized rate, or free no less. Free coffee is only handed out by the government in the US at rest stops as fars as i know.

Who told you? some employee that doesnt know much better? For sure the 2 main reasons are cost increase involving food and salary. For the food increase you can blame it on various things from the high cost of oil and the really ill conceived idea of ethanol which is actually starting to cause food shortages in some countries.

Yeah, for sure - I only drank them a few times, but the last time I tried it, the bottom (last little bit) of that smoothie tasted a bit like if they had accidentally spilled some cleaning liquid into it - granted, it might have been my overworked senses fooling me, but nevertheless, that's enough of an incentive not to drink them for a while. And besides, it's getting warm out there now, so hot smoothies are not necessary anyways

Thanks for the warning about the ingredients too, I definitely do not want many of those going into my system
