guys... he's not reacting to TA anymore because any top dj gets picked on here... look at the dave dresden drama... or the sean tyas drama... why waste time posting rebuttals to losers who will just respond with "EPIC FAILURE" or "LOLLERSKATES." lol...
ah man... this is hilarious.
you gotta love the business of music.... i mean, by the looks of it according to TA, you start out small... local... you know, producing stuff in a basement apt in Toronto... get a bunch of pats on the back... get the odd high five at a club... you made a track, it was played on the radio, life is good!
so at the hint of pursuing a career in music... you do another one! and someone else plays it on the radio... and wow, lookit that, some dood from another country whos 'heard of you' adds you on your myspace... life is defo getting better, and a sense of purpose finnaly creeps in. life is good, and looking better.
so what the hell, i guess youre a musician now!... fuck web design and programming... quit your job, start up a digital label... put some crap on beatport... and i guess it just snowballs from there... people just seem to circulate it around like nobodies business... then hearing your track in a club, or on the radio doesnt seem to feel so uncommon anymore... which is awkward to think at best. but.. life is good!
but... i guess its about to get worse.... coz that pride you felt when you heard your own stuff on the radio somehow manages to envoke a sense of "now what"... and of course youre just as obvlivious as the next bedroom producer... you don't have a massive PR team... nor the means to deploy some shady / lucrative ninja promotional company to do shit for you... why bother? you got this far on your own.
so! step 3. get some management... theyll probably find you... and knowing that someone's going to help out ... well, youll likely to bite at the first deal to come along... and naturally you do. Might not be the smartest thing you ever did... but it felt good at the time.. so fuck it.
so... that certainly takes a load off things... business end wise.... so its back to the lab to make some more music... and things just happen to fall in place for you... allbeit it the success of a release... or just plain ol dumbass luck. at the end of the day, you dont question it... because shit, live for the moment.
so, the popularity factor brews and exponentiates in the background while 1/2 the time you dont even realize it yourself. ... so naturally... you still have your supporters and pals from way back when when you werent even scraping the surface of anything... hell, you could even freely post on a message board without worrying about someone blatantly lashing out at you coz... fuck, they didnt know you from the next guy anyway.
and so begins the touring and the mayhem and the crazy deals reported in from your management... still incredibly overbearing news most of the time..... your myspace inbox fills up to the brim with congragulatory notes, which brings a lil smile to your face, and of course after getting hundreds of those a day, it's almost numbing.
you said you wanted to be financially secure, you love music, you love making music... and all of a sudden, your dream came true... so you should be perfectly happy with everything at this point.... so what's bothering you then?
so. i guess this is it. youve made it. youre not 100% sure on how you did it.... but you did. At this point, it's very easy to play the "who fucking cares" card to the public and back on that message board who used to treat you like one of their own, but at this point would turn on you in a second if you said something even remotely close to anything that someone would disagree with.
having said that, i don't think ill ever be able to turn away from where i started. I've noticed some posts here and there about how "big dj's dont post on message boards because of this and that" well, even after all the bullshit i get more often than not... im still unsure as to why they don't. I still have a voice and opnions, and i like to interact with people online, i always have. I get how popularity works. I've had a couple conversations with other DJ's and producers alike about msg board muckery... and 99.9% of the response was basicly "its all full of shit, and blah blah who cares". and im sure theyre 1/2 right. But i personally like online communique / communities.... it's fun, subjective, and most times just too damn fucking funny.
so let dresden n tyas and whoever else ignore it and do their own respective things... whether they got too fed up with negative comments or whatever... i dont have the slightest idea what would repel them from TA outside of that.... so it couldnt be that bad. because if you cant take critisicm, then you my friend, are in the wrong business.
what are people writting "you fucking suck" expecting? a 12 page essay on "ok" ?
well there ya go.

lol @ this thread
dude that snatch you talk about is my girl friends, And i would really appreciate it if you kinda laid off those kind of comments, all she was doing was voicing her opinion in regards to the music you play and produce.
after all she does have the right to say what she feels, it is a public forum and it is a place to express your opinions in regards to what's happening in the scene, especially the scene in her own city.
and so it begins...

With all this hype I am super excited for this Friday now!

wow!
that's great deadmau5. i didn't expect you to post. good work. that long post of yours made a lot of sense to me. i see you in a new light!

| Originally posted by deadmau5 i wonder what would have happened if i said vagina instead... but i digress, since it was a figure of speech and was a partial diversion from my point. anyways, I can't remember where i heard this, but if you're so fucking against it, why in gods name would you post a boatload of negative comments in a thread where some dood was promoting an event? then it all goes to shit with the feeders, and somehow almost every deadmau5 thread spirals down into some dark exploration into my career that most people on here can do nothing but speculate on? p.s. im sorry about your girlfriends vagina. it won't happen again. |
bashing on successful artists is a typical Canadian reaction (especially in Quebec). You became a world reknowed producer by making accessible tracks, congratulations dude, isn't the main goal to make a shit load of money with what you like doing? I now encouraged you to keep working hard, get to next level of producing, as well as polishing your live act. Make us proud! Good luck for Friday

And joel: staying away from forums would be a good idea as you seem to get pretty emotional and defensive. Your first post was perfect but then the following posts made me realize that you're still pretty young. Focus on producing! Work work work
like i said in my initial post: i agree with some of stereohead's points...but i think she was a little too harsh. i don't think it was right the way she went about expressing her opinion. there's other ways to go about doing it.
just my opinion.
