Hoegaarden is a connoiseur's beer.

The taste is a bit of acquired one, but it's so refreshing compared to other beers.

How the heck is a beer that comes in a TUB cannot be full of epic win?

You have to use both hands to drink out of that glass.

PS: Whoever disses Guinness, you're OUT OF MY WILL!!!

PPS: Worst beer ever is Lakeport. It's like drinking something out of Hamilton harbour.

I'll drink any free beer, but I refuse to drink Lakeport, no matter how drunk I am.

Question to all of those people hating on Guiness: do you like or have you tried other stouts?

And lol @ people saying that Hoegaarden is for people that are n00bs and don't know anything about beer. I've worked at a micro-brewery that brewed a very wide variety of different kinds of beer, so I'm not a n00b. I just HATE any kind of beer that has a citruis or fruity flavour.

Posted by Irishaddict on May-04-2008 21:35:

I love Guinness.

And Hoegaarden is still disgusting.

Posted by MarkT on May-04-2008 22:15:

Schlitz and Old Milwaukee are tied for the worst ever. Le Fin du Monde is pretty wretched too, but that's to be expected of a high-alcohol content beer. Hoegaarden is awful.

my faves are Beck's, Caffrey's and Guinness, in that order. Stella if none are available. Mill Street organic is good too.

Weissbier is GOOD stuff. Flowery tasting beer from what I remember. I love that aromatic style/taste of beers. I've only ever tried 'Waterloo Dark' as a stout and it's not that good imo. Guinness IS good though. I want to try other stouts, any recommendations Graham? As for Hoegaarden being citrusy I don't remember too much of that, just remember harshness, bad taste, ugh. May try it again.

My favourite stout that I've tried in Canada is Saint Ambroise Oatmeal Stout. They sell it in some of the bigger LCBOs. Guiness is ok, but I find it to be a bit too bland. Saint Ambroise Oatmeal stout has more of a chocolatey/coffee kick in the flavour.

Posted by Endlesswave on May-04-2008 22:24:

Nice. Will keep an eye out for it. I have had some razberry beer at the college st bar a couple of times, decent stuff.

I know this thread is about hating on beers

But there is NOTHING like downing this bad boy when you really need one

Long live the King of Beers

Mmmm mmmm, just looking at that frosty chilled bottle makes me want to smash it on the bar and start whipping the shard around.

Seriously, that's about the only thing Bud's good for.

Posted by Endlesswave on May-04-2008 22:42:

Bud, is ok. Not amazing but it's decent enough for me to drink it.

Posted by Ania_xox on May-04-2008 22:43:

Mmmm mmmm, just looking at frosty chilled Aaron makes me want to smash him on the bar and start whipping the shard around.

Seriously, that's about the only thing he's good for.

xoxoxoxo

No seriously, bud is garbage. It's a rice-based beer. Ughhhhh.

Oh come on Pett, don't tell me their marketing has gotten to you, haha. I kid.

Anyway.

My favourite beer is Sleeman's Original Draught. Holy sweet christ it is truly brilliant stuff, even though it's mass-produced.

The best beer I've ever had that isn't available here is Hoegaarden Grand Cru... Apparently some bars in the GTA have it, but I'd like to be able to buy a bunch of it in bottles.

Regular Hoegaarden is good, and to a lesser extent (and a slight imtation), Rickard's White. Pretty good stuff with a slice of orange in there. Can't wait for this Wednesday's patio session.

London Porter is pretty good too. Has that nice coffee-ish kick to it as well.

Chris: Hoegarden isn't harsh. You must be thinking of some other beer cause Hoegarden is extremely smooth and light tasting. ANother good Weiss beer is Hacker-Pschorr.

Ania: Go to your room!

On that note, I'd like to profess my hatred of Carling Light.
Ugh.

I remember being throughly pissed @ my mate's place and being offered a Carlsberg, I really should have looked before drinking.

*shudder*

Never again.

But yeah, there's something really bitter but clean about Harp, I'm a definite fan.
