Why don't you look at all the sigs with almost nudy chicks and all the posts with females. Just because they don't say "I'm heterosexual" it doesn't mean they're not acting heterosexual. When I first came on here I got shit for having a pic of me sorta half nudy. But no one complains when it's some dumb chick with her legs spread wide open. Tell me why is this? I mean I get it all the guys here are straight. But why do they have to remind me all the time that they are straight by constantly posting up pics of naked chicks? I mean what is this an insecurity issue with these straight dudes?

still, we don't go on parades :]

well of course not. but i also dont think you can claim that the bias against homosexuals in the US is the same kind of barrier that legislative racism was. individual prejudice is a very different thing to systemic bigotry. dont get me wrong, i completely understand that homosexuals are a higher risk group if we're talking violence, and i am one of the few that supports hate crime legislation. i just like things in their correct context.

Semi- COR version: fags, like women, are sometimes stupid whiney bitches. and camp guys have gotta be one of the ugliest genre of male kind. i mean come the fuck on. you love to suck dick - im ok with that. but you speak to me in those stupid fucking "gay accents" - fuck off and talk to someone else til you can come and speak to me like an adult.

COR version: you're a lazy and ignorant turd.

Yeah except for:

-ban on marriage
-ban on adoption
-ban on preventing blood donations
-lack of discrimination ban
-a gay guy will get bashed anywhere that is 10 miles outside of any metropolis

So it's a lot like racism except racism has laws protecting against it fully.

Gay people are oppressed, and more openly so, than black people today. It's not up to par with discrimination against black people 60 years ago, but let's put it this way, if you try to be yourself by kissing a guy like a normal guy would kiss a girl in any random suburb town, you'll get your ass kicked. I mean kicked.

LOL....f*ck...I have to agree with you on that. But just keep in mind there's PLENTY of gay people out there that look and act straight and you discount them as straight because they fit into society. If you saw me in public you'd think I'm an idiot hetero jock that abuses women by the way I walk and talk.

Ok, how about drawing the line with many points. There's fags being killed for being fags more so than black people being killed for being black people in the US right now.

Posted by Dervish on May-08-2008 14:01:

Agreed gay people are oppressed heavily. But if you aren't camp and so on I don't reckon people will be that fussed (and if you are camp they'll just think you're funny). Even in this yokal town.

They will call you by your sexual preference when gossiping about you though! Just as a way of identifying you lol. "Who do you mean... ohh the poof?" not nice... but similar to "the fat girl?" or "one with big teeth?"

Why the fuck do queers feel the need to constantly push their homosexuality onto everyone?? Is it a sexual insecurity thing?

lol, where do u see these types at? I guess if u hang out with 12 year old self proclaimed gay people maybe.

The parades sort of annoy me.

The other question to consider is, do gays love god? Do gays love... FOOTBALL?!?!?!?!?! I bet those un-American fags only root for the Packers...

First of all, I think that the older generation gays are "in your face" because to them, it was/is a civil and human rights issue. They were the kids getting the shit beat out of them and their lives threatened because they were gay. They were the ones that coined "we're here, we're queer..." and all that, and I think they have every right to how they feel about the way theyve been treated in this country. As far as the younger gays go, from what I can tell (and my gay best friend and I have had a lot of conversations about this), they act a certain way because they feel like they have to. The only role models they have are the "in your face" gays. But I think it's getting "better" (quotes because I dont necessarily believe its a problem in the first place). My gay is a lot like Jake, I think. No one ever knows hes gay until he comes out and says it for himself, or if they see him with his boyfriend. Most people immediately assume that we're a happy couple. He's by far the straightest gay boy I know.

Those are my 2 cents.

I have a gay flatmate from China. He's a really really nice guy and isn't 'gay-ish' on the outside till he gets drunk.

Then, he makes me realise why I'm homophobic.

in that pic that was posted a bunch of times, the guy on the left holding his balls is really hot. for real.

anyway, i've wondered this too. i don't get it. i don't do it, i don't try to.

at least there are some more progressively 'friendly' cities. obviously you're going to have an easier time in san fransisco than you would in des moines, iowa.

still, its disgusting to hear about people being attacked, etc... due to any sort of difference from "normal" society (be it race, gender, or sexual preference).

why can't everyone just say, "fuck it" and get on w/ their lives?

Demographic groups using the same verbal affectations is nothing new. Does a guy talking with a lisp sound any less intelligent than a dude with a thick southern drawl, or an inner city dude with the whole 'ebonics' dialect thing, or a northerner with all thier 'eh's?

The us and indeed the world is full of different dialects; variations on a common theme. Some of them bother me too... but I think it's a little unfair to think it has anything to do with 'speaking like an adult.'

(hell, I can't STAND british accents... but I'm not going to tell the next brit I talk to to "speak like an adult" to me. Different strokes for different folks.)

Indian descent. Born somewhere else, grew up in India. Incidentally, his parents were from the same state as my grandparents, and he went to boarding school in the same place I went to as well

i find such discrimination (as serious as they are) to be less important than historical segregation.

but gay bashing isnt a systemic abuse at the behest of the state.

again, the oppression or violence committed by private individuals isnt the same thing as legalised segeregation. its really not the state's fault if there are multitudes of redneck bastards willing to engage in gay bashing.
