I agree with the thread starter - they do have their heads up their arses.

I saw them play last year, in a booth with high sides, inaccessible to annoying fan boys, but they just kept cracking the shits anytime anyone at the front made too much noise or went to crazy, didn't smile for the whole set, etc etc.

this sparks another question.

Posted by iammesol on May-18-2008 05:21:

Saw Dickwad spin at Area 1 - what a fucking twat he was. Stood there totally emotionless, not even looking up at his fans. Didn't sign any autographs, just turned around and walked off after his set was over. Set was boring as shit too. Never got into their sound due to sheer arogance of those two. Even seeing them live b2b in Twilo didn't change my mind. Whutever, big important fucking mr. djs. piss off.

When I saw Sasha he looked pretty neutral most of the time, but toward the end of his set he started grinning and dancing. Seemed like he was having a pretty good time.

If I had to choose between DJ "attitudes," I'd choose a subdued demeanor over the clownish type that constantly "performs" for the crowd any day.

Although admittedly some do a good job of transmitting their enthusiasm, but in other cases it just comes off as silly and put-on.

As long as the musics good I'm down with it.

Went to this Sasha & Digweed gig yesterday, I was psyched to finally see them play together, see the Maven with my own eyes and shit.

The set was excellent (especially Digweed's part) whereas I was kinda dissapointed by Sasha's little use of the Maven during his set but the main downside was THAT THEY BOTH SHOWED A SHITTY ATTITUDE FOR 4 HOURS!!!

They didn't want anyone to take a picture of them (yeah, you show yourself as a huge DJ in front of thousands of people but you don't want your picture to e taken...)

They NEVER smiled or showed any compassion with the crowd.

Fans (including me) were automatically dissed when approaching one of the two guys.

And other things...

To make a long story short, it was like this: come to the club, set up gear, play, get cash and fuck off.

Why are they acting this way? Has it always been like that with them?

\

I saw them in Boston... the set was prearranged, so a little boring. Sasha didn't use Maven, BUT they didn't care about pictures. Before the party someone brought a giant bottle of Grey Goose and two pitchers, cranberry and oragne juices to the DJ 'booth'. sasha kept going under the table... by the end of the night he was tipsy, so he was smily. They were fun. Depends on the venue?

drunk in that one

Thinking of how amazing he is

Teaching diggers how to mix

By the end of the set, He was drunk

you just have to be in the right place, the right time, with the right level of fuckedupedness and this is with any dj. They are not rock stars, they are not comfortable with attention than fanboys give and are more willing to chill with people who treat them like they were nothing special.

/thread

would any rock concert suck because the lead man didn't shake everyone's hand?

noobs...suck dick, not dj's

they are just playing tracks, you could do it if you practiced.

Posted by oldblue1224 on May-18-2008 09:48:

do waht i did, just say you don't want to be an annoying fanboy, but would love to get a picture, and then they both obliged

Posted by Fledz on May-18-2008 09:58:

I can't stand DJs that look dead up in the booth. If they don't look like they are having fun, then it carries over to the crowd, but it also works the opposite way too. I LOVE DJs that are full of energy and you can see that they love what they do. It gets the crowd going and puts a smile on peoples faces.

Those that do it just for the money are no good at all in terms of entertainment.

Posted by elFreak on May-18-2008 10:29:

they are there to play music, not be bozo the clown, get over it. Some people have just as much fun with feet on the floor and the back to the booth. If you want idols buy a teen beat magazine. Music and friends > all.

homos

Maybe Sasha is just totally fed up with all this shit ?

Hence the Red Hot Chili Peppers:

come to the stadium scene, play and leave the scene right after the last drumhit leaving the very few hardcore fans who had gotten past security dissapointed.

Tiesto was never happy anytime he's played in Northern Ireland...probaly because the crowd kept throwing bottles at him mind you. Going to see sasha and digweed on the 31st...hope they aren't as depressing as mentioned

the best djs are the ones that come down and party with you after their gig

but ya in regards to this thread in general. Those guys are touring, doing gigs like 3 or 4 nights a week. Their heads probably hurt, they're probably tired, they probably forget what city they are in half the time. You can't come at these guys unless you've walked in their shoes

You don't say, from what I hear, some of them, like Steve Angello, can't even afford shoes.
