Very

Oh wow, I misread that as Flexcar, good thing it's technically the same thing.

And I noticed it said they take care of insurance and all that which is just like any car rental agency in the states if you opt for it. I find that it is more expensive than Enterprise though for day usage. Although $8/hr isn't bad at all if you just need it for an hour or two.

Atlanta's civil engineers are dumb rednecks. Seriously, they are monkeys with a redneck accent.

Very true, but my point is that with MARTA, it's difficult to get to places. It doesn't cover any ground except a giant +, so if you want to get in a corner, you're going to be walking 3 times as long as you took the train.

NYC trains go everywhere, just as the Parisian one posted, and The Tube in London (which is phreaking sick *fistpump*)

It's most likely designed that way because the rich folk don't want the poor people easy access to their neighborhoods.

Posted by iammesol on May-28-2008 17:24:

That's quite a possibility. A lot of times I don't go clubbing alone because I don't want to deal with the (literally) 10+ homeless people on the way to the station and beside it.

It is.... they put a vote up to see if they would build the extension of the train up to kennesaw (20 miles north) and the people voted no in fear of the poor.

Posted by enydo on May-28-2008 17:30:

Yep, same thing happened with Cobb.

Kennesaw is in Cobb

Posted by enydo on May-28-2008 17:40:

Oh yeah, jesus christ I'm a retard. I always think of Kennesaw being in a far off land for some reason.

It's really depressing though, I'd really like some type of MARTA transit up here. Would make a few things a lot easier, pity the vote ended up being a no go.

Posted by iammesol on May-28-2008 17:43:

I can't believe people would vote no to an extension of public transportation, especially when you have North Springs which is one of the cleanest stations I've ever seen being one of the far stations.

Posted by enydo on May-28-2008 17:47:

Yeah North Springs has a VERY nice station, I think it'd be the same if you extended the lines out to other areas.

I'm sure if you had to do that vote again right now, it'll be closer to a yes

Posted by Scottaculous on May-28-2008 17:50:

There are plans to extend MARTA to Alpharetta around 2012. More reason for all the racist retards to move their shit to Forsyth County.

My problem with the North Springs station is there is no ramp to continue heading south on 400. Which retard designed that?

Posted by enydo on May-28-2008 17:53:

I work over in Alpharetta and there are definitely racist idiots abound in that area, at least from what I've seen. It's pretty depressing.

If you click on "11x17" Version of Concept 3 Map" you can see one of the plans that the transit board is working on right now.

NYC's MTA also runs 24 hours. It means the stations tend to be dirty because trying to keep it clean is just impossible. Having said that, I'll take dirty stations for 24 hour access. The one way fare is a good value since it's only $2 no matter how far you travel. It's even better when you have an unlimited pass.

The tube in London is definitely one of the better systems I've ridden. Easy to understand maps, cushioned seats are definitely a plus. I loved going around London on the tube. I just hated the price of an all day pass.

Personally, my favorite systems are Hong Kong (MTR), Singapore (MRT) and DC (Metro).

w0rd.

When one of my friends from NYC heard our trains stop at midnight he couldn't stop laughing

Posted by nchs09 on May-28-2008 20:18:

The one in madrid is nice... Whoever said the one is paris is nice... yuk! Thing is like 10000000 degrees inside. No air circulation :/

Something you've all failed to think about is the fact that MARTA is the only public transit system the US that isnt state or federally funded. It's funded by penny taxes in two counties and operational fares.

Dont dog MARTA so much!

wtf! Why isn't it

I more or less hate on how the state just accepts that it's enough, but everyone knows it isn't

Because the state of Georgia doesnt want to pay for something that most of it can't utilize. We live in one of the reddest states in the country, next to Alabama and Mississippi. Do you really think they would fund something like this? For Atlanta?

And Cobb didn't say no to that agreement just because of the "homeless" factor, it's because they dont want to pay for something they wouldnt use. People ENJOY driving their SUVs, even if it means sitting in traffic. It's their RIGHT. Just like it's their right to live 2 hours away from the city and commute in every day. And you can't say that people will agree to it now because of gas prices. Gas prices go up, commuting stays the same. And the city of Atlanta would rather spend millions of dollars to add more lanes to the connector than to drop some money into a public transit plan.

When the airport rail system was going in, city officials, honest to god, said that they would rather use the money to expand the freeways more. Freeways that are already 16 lanes wide.

Ill never understand that mentality.

Posted by iammesol on May-28-2008 20:44:

w0rd. I don't disagree with you. I just thought that with our size we would have a better transportation system like that of Chicago or other smaller large cities in the US.

edit: according to this, Atlanta is ridiculously small
