I'm pretty sure I know who Dante is too....I may need a refresher next time I see you.
The first few times I went to Guv there was this guy that looked like he was dressed in all black leather with spikes coming out of the sleeves. He had spikey bleach blonde hair and black sunglasses on. He would dance on the podium at the front ALL night, and when he wasn't dancing he would sit so no one could take his spot.
I remember going up and talking to him one time...asking him if he came there every weekend of something and I just remember him being a total douchebag. Hahaha

I had been curious about the party scene and really wanted to check it out sometime. It was my buddies birthday, and DJ Dan was his favourite, so we got him tickets for Summer Massive 2004 at the Kool Haus. Such a crazy night. I remember the night being such an intense night out from my usual "Club District" Saturday nights. Tried to get in to see Sasha in the main room...but they weren't letting anyone else in.
After walking out the door with the sun beating down...I was hooked.
2nd Party- One month later... Danny Howells Kool Haus
...then Deep Dish Labour of Love...first time in the Guvy main room... first time hearing that BLOODY horn....
now...the rest is history...

Drop Zone under pacific mall. With Drag N Fly spinning. I was probably 17 and they served my drinks after hours.

Not counting the b&e parties we used to throw in Cambridge warehouses (thank god for statute of limitations lol), for big actual party was PVD at The Warehouse in 1999. I was already hooked, but now I didn't have to be involved in putting the party together just so I could get in b/c I was finallly legal age lol.
Since then, I've been happy to continue to spread the joys of EDM to others, and have always loved the wide eyed smile of somebody the first time they really hit their groove.

You're from Cambridge?
Posted by The Ear on Jun-02-2008 17:06:
Kitchener. South-end i.e. the great 'hood of Pioneer Park.
At Bloor & Lansdowne now lol.
Yep, dunno if you ever made it out to our crazy amateur rolling parties (everything except the cables were on wheels & rolled in & out of the back of an old van), but the old run down warehouses were a gold mine b/c they never turned off the power until they finally got sick of us moving from one spot to the next. Of course the last one we did was in 1997 lol.

I was just looking at my external hard drive and found lots of old pics from when I first started partying, as well as first started meeting TAs. Some awesome pictures haha.
I'm looking at these well I'm listening to Trance, which I haven't done in like over 2 years. I started partying and getting into stuff in like 2003, but I know other people got into stuff way earlier than me. I listened to the music since like 1998 though.
I got into this as a person that didn't party in highschool at all, didn't drink, was super shy, and stayed in all the time. I turned 19, and that's actually when I first started drinking ever. My friend Rob dragged me out of the house to come to some house parties because I wouldn't come, and gave me some drinks lol.
My friend Rob forced me to go to my first club, which I didn't want to go to because I was too scared to go "I don't know how to dance!" (not that I know now lol) and was super shy at the time haha. Little did I know what it would lead to, and how much I would love it, actually getting on the floor by myself and busting a move all night LOL.
I'm only 25, which I know, blah blah blah isn't old, but I swear yesterday I was friggin 19 haha, and started all this. So much time has gone by so fast it seems, but so many amazing times and memories. I'm sure we've all changed so much since we first started partying, I know I have, BIG TIME! Mr. super shy isn't so super shy anymore, and Mr. didn't want to dance because he didn't know how, doesn't give a crap anymore and will dance how he wants LOL. I've had some crazy danceoffs with some hardcore dancers, Kelly (Dance2DaBeat), Nada (iLLnaDa), and Jay (KEFKKA) are the top 3.
I've met some awesome people, and lots that I'm actually friends with outside of club stuff. So many great people that I wouldn't have met if it wasn't for the scene. Cottage and house parties (Nada! :P), club stuff, and just hanging out times.
Big thanks to several people. Kelly (Dance2dabeat), you got me into house music, as well as made me more open and took that shyness factor I had and made me chuck it out the window lol. I friggin love you and always will.
Also big thanks to Rob. I would have never gotten into this if it wasn't for you. I would have never met the people I met, like Kelly, and would have never gotten out there to see and do the things I've done. I've known you since grade 8 (as I tell many people haha), and I can honestly say, you've helped me become the person I am today. Straight up!
I'm still young I know, I look it still that's for sure lol, but the time has just flown by! Totally fast.
I'm sure other people have some pictures of them when they first started partying, so lets see them!

LOL!!!!!!!! Dressed all facked up gino when I was 19 haha

Hahaha! I used to glowstick??

Totally soaked from going nuts

my older cousins have enough stories to write a book on these parties including shit that happened in the parking lot before and after the party.
I hit 108(getting a platinum card was huge...i mean only the first 500 ppl got one each nite lol) in those days for all ages, palazzo...i loved foam parties back in the day, now that i think about it its a gross concept...
My first party in the "scene" was a rave at the Cineplex Queensway, the one you see when driving west on th gardiner....it wasn't the Cineplex then obviously, but a huge warehouse, it was wild I was 16.

Well... I dunno if this counts, but back in 2000 or 2001 I was going to the "summer rush" parties in Toronto hosted by 103.5. That is what really started my whole descent into the EDM world.
In Dec. 2004 I went to Gator Petes in Guelph to see Barry spin where I met many TAs for the first time (Dan, Kelly, Jason, Lowell, Barry, etc.) That was all thanks to Aaron, of course
Not long after that, I was out to Guv *with a fake ID*, the Vault *also with fake ID*, and the Docks *again... fake ID*.
I never got into it as hardcore as others, but I enjoyed myself.

Busy from "ready or not" that old show on Global used to waitress at Gator Petes.

Hahaha, you have a great memory for the fine details, I'd forgotten about the spoon and the intricate TLC that went into those shots (which became less and less accurate with each passing minute).
Now I feel nostalgic for those shenanigans. These days it's always just about the main event, the specific party, never the night out. It used to be like going to any other club, just a lot later in the night and with better music.
What the hell happened to the pre-parties at Coffee Time and Tortilla Flats, the tailgate warmups, and the sketchy after-parties resulting in broken toilet seats and unclaimed underwear? Did we get tired?
Unless that's all still around and I just lost touch. In which case, whoops.
