Kubica crash site modified for 2008

Canadian Grand Prix officials have made modifications to the wall where Robert Kubica crashed spectacularly in last year's race in a bid to prevent a similar accident this time around.

Kubica smashed into the concrete wall on the run down to the hairpin after losing his front wing in a collision with Jarno Trulli in the 2007 event, and the FIA and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve officials have since evaluated what could be done to improve safety for this year's race.

In the end, it was decided that the best thing would be to move the wall closer to the track - to ensure that any angle of impact is much less should another car go off in a similar accident.

Furthermore, improved debris fencing has been added in a bid to ensure that should a car get launched into the air like Kubica's last year , then it will not endanger cars heading out of the hairpin on the other side of the wall.

Kubica himself has said that he feels no special feelings about returning to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve after last year's accident.

When asked by autosport.com if there will be any emotions when he hit the track again in Canada, Kubica said: "I don't think so. Like always at every grand prix I will try to do my best. And after the accident of last year there will be no effect there was no effect until now."

So far, it's all Euro on College, but I haven't hit everywhere yet. I've basically taken care of about 1.5 blocks from Mod Club to just past the TD heading East. Now I was only stopping into places that had a big screen & all so if there's a specific place you guys think I should drop into, let me know.

Also, it would've been more places, but when you get a call to check out Tom Petty for nothing about 20 feet from the stage, well, you just gotta go. Great show btw!

End update.

(or as they say at the end of Eastern Europe's favourite cat & mouse team, Worker & Parasite, "Endut Hock Hecht!")

Ok guys...

We need to pick a place.

Here are the choices.

1) Loose Moose - they are playing it downstairs

2) Spotted Dick - said he could put it on for us, not sure what the tv is like (Alex and Fahad will feel at home here)

3) Sports Centre Cafe - He said he could put it on for us, put we most likely wont get one of the main tvs

4) Scallywags - Depends on how many people show up for the Euro game, but he says he SHOULD be able to devote a smaller tv for F1.

5) Was there anywhere else???

Let me know.

Also Im not going to be home tomorrow, could I get someone to text or call me with the qualifying results

Lookin forward to the majority decision folks.

BMW just does not have the pace of the top two teams, but they have got something just as good: consistency. Every race they are right there, driving hard, and making sure to be careful and not punt anybody off.

When I saw Lewis slam into the back of Kimi, i was just hoping the rear suspension and diffuser was ok, which it was NOT! I was so angry I threw my remote, almost broke my TV, and had to leave the apartment before I broke something else. Kimi was putting in stupidly fast lap times to catch the front two.

It's gonna be great to see Kubica and Alanso at BMW next year. Lets hope that Robert goes out and gets himself a face lift, with some hair plugs when he renegotiates a monster contract for 2009+.

HAHAHAHAHA

I thought the same thing (well similar). He isnt pretty enough to be on the podium.

But such a great driver.

F-1 2008 just got 100x time exciting (and I didnt think that was possible)

You are an idiot. How do you drive too fast when you have the pit lane speed limiter on? How do you stop short when you stop for the red light at the appropriate line? Hamilton did not see the red light in the pit lane, just a Ferrari and Sauber stopped where he did not expect it.

So glad he got that 10 grid spot penalty for next race.

Posted by Intangible on Jun-10-2008 14:25:

The next race is going to be awesome

We get to see Hamilton try to race his way up to the top of the pack
And HOPEFULLY Kimi will catch up on some lost points

My dream finish
1. Kimi
2. Massa
3. Kubica

Hamilton - retires hahahaha

Posted by zoogla on Jun-10-2008 14:34:

^yep, sounds like next race won't be one to miss.
