I have the "dark cherry" chocolate. I love this phone. It's the perfect size and works amazingly. One feature I never set up was anything to do with internet on my phone... IMO, if you need the internet on your phone to entertain you - you need a new life.

Internet on your phone can save you from dying of boredom if for instance you have friends that take fucking forever to dress up. So instead of waiting for half an hour for that person to finally show up, you can just browse the cor and have a few laughs.
Though if that happens often the phone bill can induce a mild heart attack, so i rather run an emulator (GBA, NES, SNES...) on my phone and play games.

If you know your friends take forever, you show up late so you don't have to wait. OR, you have THEM meet YOU to save time.
Or, get new friends - problem solved
My phone is always going off anyway between texting and calls. I'm not going to waste my battery to sit online. There's too much to do in life to sit on the internet on your phone. I guess I just don't care for that luxury.
The pages take too long to load anyway, and you're looking at a screen that's freaking two inches wide and 2.5 long... It can't be good for your eyes to strain that much to look at the screen and zoom in and zoom out and whatnot. That's WAY too much effort for me.

It is actually the least shitty motorola phone I've ever owned

+1 trying to use that tiny screen to use the web eats ass. They are going to have to come up with something better before I would bother with internet on my phone

If you have a long commute via train or bus, internet access on a phone is a lifesaver
Posted by ChemEnhanced on Jun-05-2008 14:44:
I never saw the need to get a new phone so I just kept this one. I think I might upgrade soon though.

The friend in question actually lives about 60km away from me, so what i used to do, when we were supposed to meet up for a drink was ring him up while i was leaving my house and tell him that ill be there in 5 minutes. So when i finally came round his house 45 minutes later i would only need to wait like 5 or 10 minutes before he is ready
He figure me out though so now we need to wait for him again
Its not all bad though, he knows anybody waiting for him is just a breath away from strangling him, so he usually greets us with "Hey, coctails are on me tonight" and we are all friends again

You could, but it wouldn't mean anything. My BB surfs the web quicker than an iphone, hooks up to all my email accounts, runs google maps, holds a good chunk of music, gives me an easy platform to text from(keyboard), and retains all normal features of a phone. That is what I need a phone to do and the BB does it. My BB = $99, iphone = $400. The question is, what would the iphone do for me that my bb doesnt? (that justifies the $300 premium, plus an AT&T contract.)
Im not saying the iphone isnt neat, and that some people wont find a use for it, but its not the messiah of phones that everyone is hailing it as. There is no BEST phone, just the best phone for you.
**EDIT, just re-read your post and realized that, while you quoted an iphone post, yours was more about just how the BB sucks. In which case I'll just say, it does what I need it to do, and does it well. I dont understand what its not doing for me that I need it to.

The BB has very little support for anything outside of RIM's box. You can't just find an app or interface for whatever you want like you can with the iPhone or Windows Mobile phones. The office document viewers suck, the internet is gimped, you are stuck with proprietary OS bullshit, and the keyboard sucks. It is too small.
Also, The reason the network speed on the iPhone wasn't anything to write home about, is because AT&T was still in the process of upgrading their network. They didn't have a large enough coverage of 3g yet to justify the added development. Also if you consider a 5yr exclusivity agreement, they had to get the ball rolling and have a few things to release as point releases basically, so that they can get people to continue to buy the phone through 5 years. Now that 3g is all rolled out on AT&T, you can be rest assured that the 3g iPhone will have faster network performance than any other network here in the states. 7.2Mbps is quite nice. 800-1.4Mbit downloads is fucking fast. Oh and my phone, an MDA, is faster on EDGE than all the old BBs. The 8xxx and 9xxx series are a different story, but it isn't that much faster.
Oh and you don't need to spend $400 for an iPhone anymore. There are now subsidies. And you can always unlock it, so no need for the AT&T contract either.

So a BB sucks for you. Ill buy that. But the internet works fine for me (opera mini) so I dont really understand the 'gimped' internet comment, I dont really use it for reading office apps (but several readers exist, as well as many other apps), my RSS reader is beautiful, and the keyboard is fine for my fingers. (I prefer it to the touchscreens. And yes, I've used MANY iphones and even a few voyagers. Now THOSE are stinkers
) And the proprietary OS point applies to the iphone too. (Or is there another iphone OS?)
The point about network speed as well is kind of moot. So they have bigger plans on the horizon... thats fine, everyone does. That doesn't help the iphones in use NOW. (Still slower internet response than my BB). Most of what they're doing is just to get caught up to everyone else.
I guess I'm still trying to figure out why it sucks for me, and that brings me back to my original question. What would I gain by switching to an iphone? Im running an 8x btw.
**EDIT also bear in mind that I am not exactly a 'power user.' All I really do is phone, text, email, surf the web (TA, myspace, wiki), occasional game, google map/traffic, play mp3s and podcasts, keep up with several rss feeds, keep some photos, and check weather.

lol that's why. Power users are the ones that find the BB to be quite shit. Unfortunately, most BB users aren't power users, so don't see the inherent problems until they get more engrossed in the phone. And I personally don't find the iPhone appealing, as it does nothing, with the exception of visual voicemail, that my phone, which mind you is 4yrs old model wise, can't do.

Because the USA is the only place that has unlimited internet options for their cell phones.

It's also good when you need to look up something on the fly, such as an address etc.

Unlimited internet usually only comes with business packages and a subscription to those costs more per month than what i spend on it in a year.
Also, its just more useful to buy a phone that supports wifi, since every other bar offers a free wifi service anyway, the coveragein urban areas is great.
