AFTERNOON COFFE BOYS!!!!! FUCKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!

i really wanna go but i just dont think this festival will be as organized as demf was (but maybe it will be, who knows). Jenn/Cribs dance your tits off to tony rohr and tim xavier please!

Posted by kaniz on Jul-22-2008 14:12:

Hrmm, this is starting to seem a bit more appealing to me. But, it's also the weekend before Harvest, and I've been excited for Harvest since before I left last years Harvest. (Seriously, at like, 5am I was 'omg, I cant wait for Harvest again next year') - that's a bit too much $$ to suck up in a two week span. But Audion, Seph, Dilo vs Gurtz, Afternoon Coffee Boys, Heartthrob,PanPot + the usual suspects (Hawtin, Troy, Magda) would be fun.

from my friend Claudia on NYTA:

www.minitekfestival.com has been updated and has a new Butane podcast up.

From the site:

venues, venues, venues....

we know that most of you are wondering where minitek will take place. we wont spill the beans as of yet, but since we know that you want to make your plans, well tell you this much: minitek will take place at two different locations, one outdoor day venue and one indoor night venue. we recommend you to stay around the lower manhattan area, if you want to be in between both venues. either way, new york citys public transport network will get you around easily and well add means of transport where needed. detailed venue information will be released in august and if youre signed up to our newsletter, youll receive updates as they become available.

we strongly encourage you to make hotel reservations as soon as possible. new yorks hotels are busy all year round, so leaving bookings up to last minute might prove tricky. we will add a travel section on this website in the next few days to suggest a few hotel options.
ticketing

for those of you who missed the two early bird presales, a limited supply of full weekend passes for both days and both nights is available at US$70* and a limited supply of VIP weekend passes for both days and both nights is available at US$ 150*.

* reservation access to official festival hotels (while supply lasts) - please send an email to [email protected] with your ticket order number. reservation must be made with ticket purchasers name and can't be transferred.

individual tickets for minitek day and minitek night will become available at the end of august and availability depends on remaining capacity.

www.residentadvisor.net/minitek

minitek day is all ages. minitek night is 18+. all tickets are will call only. US$3 deposit will be charged for each RFID wristband at pick up and will be credited when wristband is returned. rain or shine event . all ticket sales are final, no refunds or exchanges. standing room only. ticket pricing, availability and lineup are subject to change without prior notice. *does not include online service charges, state taxes and fees. ticket prices will increase thereafter and is subject to availability. **certain restrictions apply.

Details from Minitek website

we know that most of you are wondering where minitek will take place. we wont spill all beans quite yet, but since we know that you want to make your plans, well tell you this much: minitek will take place at two different locations, one outdoor day venue and one indoor night venue. to shish the skeptics and to counter silly rumours that we don't even have a venue yet, we're releasing some info regarding minitek's night venue: it's going to be in... midtown manhattan!

we recommend to stay around the night venue, and more towards the lower side of manhattan if you want to be in between both venues. either way, new york citys public transport network will get you around easily and well add means of transport where needed. we will inform you of updates in our newsletter, so make sure you're signed up!

Still not a lot of information which is a pain. They also put this in their newsletter

...that minitek is coincidentally happening at the end of NY fashion week?
... that minitek day will take place at one of new york's most famous landmarks? more...
... that we're still looking for innovative art&technology projects to show? more...
... that some of minitek's line up will stay unannounced till the end? more...
... that we're looking for more affiliate promoters around the world to help spread the good word? more...

Wish ther was a bit more definite information but I did book my flight on the weekend.

Double YAY...

While the details are limited... this is their party style.

For their regular parties they don't usually release details until the very last minute and you have to be on their mailing list.

Their mailing list only opens up every once and a while so you generally have to know someone on their mailing list.

As for the landmark.. maybe the Tobacco Warehouse under the Brooklyn Bridge. It is easily accessible from Midtown on the subway.

I kinda like the mystery... but then again I don't have to book a place to stay.

Hehe awww for you and crib.... Anytime! I've been trying to get that jersey boy down here for 2 years now! Surely I would offer my apt to more people, but the TA's can ask jenn: manhattan apartments are TEENY!!!!

As for tobacco warehouse I loooove that venue: right under the brooklyn bridge, perfect view of manhattan. It would def be the day time venue because the park closes at 10 sharp and the ritzy Dumbo neighborhood is anal about noise (think toronto islanders...). I am wondering, with the mention of fashion week and a big NYC landmark, if they will do bryant park (which is in midtown and they did hint at that). That would be sickkkkkk!!!

MSG? hotel pennsylvania? what venues are there???

Edit: btw for cribs and jenners, this is perfect, its only 3 train stops from me and a $13 cab (split) for the loong nights when we dont feel like wasting time waiting for the subway! <3 <3

For those who dont know, the is officially on the west side of midtown, but since manhattan is not very wide, I would still suggest staying on the east for brooklyn-purposes. going across town in a cab is like $3. Chelsea neighborhood is very close to this as well. (walking distance).

Fantastic. I am cool with the subway too, but that is an extremely cheap cab. This is great news!
