Wow ....all this Drama! I do agree that opening DJ for Tiesto sucked. At times I thought he was playing hiphop? It was probably a good thing for SDPD to stop the music for 45 minutes....god knows how much worst the set would've gotten. That being said....the event at the beginning and crowd was great. Tiesto's set was magical for the beach ....loved it. Sorry about what happened at 4th and B...thats was B.S. Wavehouse event did feel just like WMC Maimi...awesome!

Actually, I think it works the other way.

Now that I am married, I spend a WHOLE lot less and I get rewarded alot more.

If Tiesto played until 2:30 than he did play past there normal closing time, as the venue does not have an afterhours license to operate. This would explain why he may have felt more or less abbreviated at the venue.

FYI-4th and B was open until 4 am and they do have an after hours license, Cowboy Mike played the closing set which sounded great as always.

It is very odd to me that the promoters, agents or anyone knowledgeable enough about the scene in San Diego would not have Mike or Victor in the opening/closing spot as they truly have the energy, poise, talent and respect needed to be an opener for the likes of Tiesto. Why would you not stick to the formula that works?

RETARDED.

Victor was Scheduled to Close from 3-4, from what I heard..

As far as opening, it's so obvious that Sergio the Dj guy either payed some serious cash or really knows somebody very well to get both of those opening spots. Cause, he shouldn't even be playing out at these kind of events. Hi style is totally different and just absolutely doesn't work.

This used to happen all the time up here at Avalon, they would always have some shitty dj, that would play hip hop or something before a trance DJ like Ferry Corsten or somebody. It goes to show that some promoters and/or bookers (people making the decisions) don't have the interest of the people paying money to get in.

One of the best combos was when Victor opened for Tiesto at Avalon, such a great time and totally worked well together.

Then Tijs made the decision more than likely... shitty crowds do that when people are at the top. They don't put up with it, and honestly, if someone is throwing shit they should be thrown on the street and given a quick foot out the door. It's uncalled for and destroys the night, and its destroying the local scene as well. Grow up if you want to party... lol.

my 2 cents. I know that 4th & B isn't always to 4am, as Love Friday's didn't always go until 4am (at least to my memory).

As for Sergio, well, that seems to be something that someone in the promoters crew made the decision to plug in right before Tijs (at both venues). Someone must have thought it would work, otherwise it wouldn't have happened. I know that Victor had some issues with whether or not his was playing that day (from the people I talked to) and Sergio could have been given time accordingly.

I don't think that they don't care, i just think that they are stupid.

They want to appeal to the Kanye crowd, yet the headliner plays happy 2 be hardcore

They know that the Kanye crowd = money, yet they tend to play stupid. They tend to forget that the Kanye crowd and the EDM crowd is different, and doesn't blend well.

My view on it all is that the commercialism ("selling out") and greed of many has taken over our city's scene, but I have complete faith that this will pass. People need to come together for the love and commitment to growth in our city, and not one or two people making thousands of dollars off a show when the people who are working at 100% walk away penniless. You don't have to spend $100 to see your favorite DJ...if you're spending that much, then PLEASE save your money and treat yourself to a true music experience like Coachella or San Francisco Love Fest, even Miami if you've never been.

With that said, continue to stand by your local DJ's and talent because we have much to be proud of and they need the consistent support from their city and community. This is not a high school dance nor Kanye...and there is a distinct difference, absolutely. People gravitate to electronic dance music just like when rock and roll first came about. The same with hip hop. There is an emergence-then refrain-then evolution into what will be...

I talked to some of my friends that hit up the Wavehouse and they had a great time; I think that's all that matters.

Smiley DJ Tiesto in San Diego Questions Answered + A Set

Ok everyone... I am Scott Roberts, the opening DJ @ Wavehouse before Victor. I would like to shed some light on all of the questions and conjectures that people have thrown out so far.

1. The original line up is as follows for both venues
Wavehouse:
$uperfox (Sergio)
Scott Roberts
Victor Dinaire
Tiesto

4th & B
Sem
Cowboy Mike
Tiesto
Victor Dinaire

The lineup was altered the day before per a request from Tiesto's management.

2. Tiesto was only scheduled to be playing at 4th and B from 12 - 2. He actually played for a half hour longer than he was "supposed to".

3. For those of you who came, I am sorry if you were disappointed by certain aspects of the day or night. Thank you very much to the people who came early enough to catch my set, it was an absolute blast to be up there. If you weren't able to catch my set, or if you did and would like to hear it again, here is the link to download it:

Feel free to email me and let me know what you think... my email address is [email protected]

I hope that this answers some of the questions that you have posted and I look forward to hearing some thoughts on the set.

P.S. I am going to be opening for Above and Beyond at On Broadway on Friday June 27th starting at 9:30pm. Hope to see you there and if you want to be on the guestlist, email me.

-Scott

That answers 80% of the questions that were floating around.

Man I am like one of the biggest Tiesto fans around and I must say he really disappointed me this round... He didn't play the songs that made him Tiesto nothing compared to ELEMENTS OF LIFE... Ohh well!!
