i think im comin back down to tampa for this!

Posted by Live4Trance on Jul-04-2008 22:36:

Heads up...for those that plan to go and still need to purchase tix should do so ASAP. Dropped by GI today to purchase mine and was told they anticipate selling out. They said the place holds 3,000 ppl and at Corsten's show only 1,500 attended. Too bad, now I won't be able to carry on decent conversations and have enough room to dance, dance, dance! Well, as long as there's good vibes I'm all for hearing loss and claustrophobia!

To Kevntampa, I for one appreciate your list. It's certainly something I couldn't do, but we need people like you. I perceive you as being an exceptionally devoted fan with a great ear. Your talent is admirable! Keep doing what you're doing!

I see your list of NYC happenings and assume you're coming down from the Big Apple. Curious....did you see ATB at Pacha recently? If so, how was it???

I'll have to check it out! I've NEVER seen ATB live, even though I had multiple opportunities. Did you catch him at the Amph last year??? I purchased 4 tix and everyone backed out, including my husband! I didn't want to go solo (a girl thing of course), BUT to this day, I regret not going. If I had known about TA back then, I'd have given the tix away--no strings attached. What a waste of $$$, but that's life.

WOW...you seem to be the jetsetter type to catch your fav djs! Thanks for mentioning BT--I actually didn't know he'll be here! Corsten was great but took him awhile to make his appearance. As you know, AVB will be better about that. So, which are you going to see tomorrow??? AVB or Infected Mushroom???

no way that is true. Corsten was packed crazy full. Physically impossible to fit twice as many people in that place, even if the inside was packed shoulder to shoulder.

I was there at Corsten's show and agree that the outside section was pretty packed, but the inside section wasn't that tight. I stayed up until about 2:30 am seated at one of the tables, and as long as I was inside I was able to carry on conversations with my friends--thank God! The 3,000 ppl max claim came from GI's management. Perhaps he was exaggerating. Nevertheless, I'd be VERY happy if GI doesn't try to pack THAT many in for AVB! But then again AVB is a headliner and money talks.

ok so my friends and i are def going to this show. The thing is we need help. We arent familiar with the area and are trying to book a suite hotel room that holds up to 6 people. Anyone know of any decent hotels that can accommodate this. Let us know cause we need to book it ASAP just to get it out of the way. Thanks

Jamie

Hey Girlfriend!!! It's "me" here and I'm SO glad to say I'm able to GOOOOOOOO!!! Pushed back our travels to 8/15, so you and yours will have to let me be a decent hostess and treat you all to a pre-AVB meal! About your situation...I can tell you the closest hotel is the Holiday Inn Express right on Anderson going north from the Green Iguana. It's close enough to walk it if you want, but then again you're on a highway and may get hit. Another hotel that's a tad further is the Hampton Inn on (I think) Waters Ave, south from GI. Those are the only two I know of that's close enough. Let me know your finalized plans via email Jamie.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites
TAMPA-ANDERSON RD/VETERANS EXP
9402 CORPORATE LAKE DR.
TAMPA, FL 33634 UNITED STATES <--- closest .3 miles

Hampton Inn Tampa-Veterans Expressway/Waters Avenue
5628 W. Waters Avenue, Tampa, Florida, USA 33634
Tel: +1-813-901-5900 Fax: +1-813-901-5910 <--- 2nd closest .6 miles

i know this area well as i live 5 minutes from GI, unfortunately i wont be in attendance but the above hotels are both very close

and the best thing about GI is that parking is easily not a problem and free

I'll be there...
Whats the line-up? Who's opening for Armin? Who's behind this event?

Typical Florida drama in this thread by the way. Doesn't surprise me that there's haters in the trance scene too...

I remember several years ago when the same people hating were probably talking about how Armin is the next big thing and coming up w/ good music. You talk about how mainstream he is but look at how many sub-labels he runs/funds and different varieties of this music on each label. If anything Armin has graced the Trance scene by giving means for artists to succeed as well as adding to his own completely diverse collection of music he can play at any time he chooses.

And there's always that option when you don't like an artist to.... KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND DON'T GO TO THE SHOW!

PLUR is wack but stay back if you have nothing positive to contribute...
Same people complaining as well I've never even heard of, so I rest my case there...

As to everyone else. I live 5 minutes from the venue so I'll see you there!

For the record I always thought AVB was wack.. Tiesto too..

The only trance dj's I wouldn't mind seeing just so I could say I saw them play are Chris Lawrence & PVD..

And I assume with this comment you're not saying PVD is "underground" right??

NOPE NOT AT ALL.. Not saying either of them are underground.. Just would go see them for the sake of being able to say I saw them play.. Plus there was actually a time when I really did like these guys.. Pre 2000...

blake is pretty awesome...

im still trying to see if i can find someone to go with me, that might be my only deterrent... dont know how i feel about the amtrak thing, plus its pretty far from the hotel i'd be looking to stay at.

how is the area around GI?

The area around GI is commercial with a huge AMC theater in the same plaza, as well as a good number of eateries. The Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn are close by (as you probably already know) but wouldn't advise walking to/from them. Anderson Rd is a highway and at night it's not lit up that well if at all. If you're coming into Tampa around 4:00p or so, it's best to avoid Veterans Expressway to get to Anderson Rd due to congested after-work traffic. Best to take Dale Mabry Northbound to West Hillsborough Ave to Hoover Blvd which changes to Anderson Rd. Hope that helps! If by chance you come solo you're welcome to hang with me and my friends. I know how you feel and do truly understand!

thanks for the advice...
I'm actually considering flying haha... i found a nice little deal with flight and hotel (just for the one night) to stay at the intercontinental at the airport which doesnt seem to be that far from the venue and intercontinentals tend to be pretty nice...
I have a cold though so if i dont start feeling better flying will be completely out of the question but dammit i want to go
