If you're married right now or have previously been married at some point, what are your impressions of marital life? Is it generally enjoyable or generally not that great?

And if you were married but then split or got divorced, do you think you'll ever marry again?

I've been married for a little over a year. My situation is a little different than usual; I'm married to a Russian girl from Uzbekistan that I met while on a business trip a few years ago. The term "long distance relationship" took on a whole new meaning, as I went to visit her there a few times over the course of about 2 years. We decided to take a chance and have her move here, and got married a few months after she arrived (I was 29, she was 27).

Maybe it's because it was so unconventional in nature, and something so out of character for me to do, but it turned out to be really unexpectedly great. Russian girls, im my opinion, seem so much better than the American girls I've been around my entire life. She's way more respectful and appreciative than most of the attention seeking types here. 99% of girls as hot as she is that are Americans are snotty, pretentions beyotches... it's so different. I get a lot of looks from strangers like, "How the fuck did you get that chick? You must have a fat wallet." It's hilarious. A few of my friends have also been married for a short time and already complain all the time about the shit I never have to deal with. We get along great and the risk ended up paying off.

Same here. There's too much stuff I want to do in the next few years that wouldn't be possible with kids running around. I have 2 cats right now and that's enough!

Oh, I will make sure I am ready. Not going to squeeze one out if I am not ready. I am deathly afraid of any medical procedure and if you knew me you would know how scared I am (not going to get into detail here). I think that is the part that makes me so scared. Mentally I am ready, it is the other thing I am so frightened of (I used to pass out during those puberty movies they showed in 5th grade, I still get nervous when I see blood, etc.).

im the same exact way. child birth is like one of my biggest fears in life. i dont think im cut out for pregnancy. i'll just adopt lol

I used to be afraid of a bun in the oven, but the more I think about it, the more excited I get. Baby making is our purpose! I feel compelled to follow through with it.

it was very natural and exciting, minus public vomiting and weight gain. But as much as it hurts it is really an amazing experience.

I'm kind of unhappily married, sometimes what you plan on doesn't go how you thought it would. I don't think there's anything wrong with admitting you've made a mistake and getting divorced if your relationship isn't going anywhere. I don't have kids so that's not really an issue. We'll see how things work out.

Lol, b/c my husband suggested adoption last night. I can't say a light didn't go off in my head, but I know I would like to at least have a biological child- it is just the getting out of that child I can't do. Pregnancy sounds like an amazing experience.

Posted by Slylee on Jul-06-2008 01:39:

well here's the thing...birth control works by tricking the body into thinking its pregnant. i have always had problems with birth control. nausea, fatigue, headaches, depression, etc... i dont do well with birth control at all. i have a feeling it's a pretty good indicator of how i'll be when i'm pregnant and it worries me. i'll be fucking miserable the entire 9 months, i just know it lol

i have that total mother nurturing side to me and i have no doubt i'll be an excellent mom...it's just the physical part of becoming a mom that i don't think i can hang with.

Posted by wienerschnitzel on Jul-06-2008 01:54:

jamie i had the exact same experience with birth control, but my pregnancy wasn't that bad. I had morning sickness for the first three months and was alot bitchier then usual but i think that is pretty common, lol. However, everyone is different so who knows!

Posted by klingklang77 on Jul-06-2008 01:54:

I never been on birth control, so I don't know, but I have heard of it tricking your body into being pregnant. I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

Posted by Slylee on Jul-06-2008 01:56:

eh we'll see. i'll cross that bridge when i get there too...but it's gonna be a while lol

Posted by klingklang77 on Jul-06-2008 02:06:

Yea, I hear ya.

I of course have never been married but,IMO, YES ARCADIA HAS AN OPINION OMG GET THE CAMERAAA!!

If a person is not 100% sure they wanna spend the rest of their life with their respective couples then, i think they shouldn't get married at all.

Divorce rates go up more and more O-o it's quite amazing.

Im getting married to make my parents happy and if its wasnt for them I would have never gotten married my take on life is that you dont have to have someone (gf or bf) in your life to be happy if you have good friends and family you can live a happy life without being in the whole realtionship drama and wedding and kids thing......If you at later on in your life need kids...just adopt its not that hard life can go on without those social norms.

You're getting married to make your parents happy (first mistake), while your take on life is also that you don't have to have someone to be happy? Don't do it! Who gives a fuck what your parents want (in regards to you getting married)... it's your life
