Thought about this for a while, then I scrolled up to check your location and it confirmed my suspicions.

Just noticed this post...

Yeah, I'm miles away from any human-free natural areas and especially from any snow, so it's hard to get any silence in an outdoor space. I've been thinking of driving out to west Texas, land of a whole lot of nothing, to get some peace and quiet.

What, this is like El Paso with the cowboys and stuff?

Nah. If I go west on Highway 10 there are stretches of road over 100 miles long with nothing but the smallest towns.

I would say that clubs are where I listen to the least EDM in proportion to the whole.

The truth is, unless I, or someone we know, is playing - or it's a festival - I'm probably not going out to a club at all.

I look for, listen to, make, and play music almost exclusively on my own, at home, and consider it an absolute treat when I get to hear or play the music I really enjoy out and about.

I got into edm through listening to stuff on my computer (my computer speakers are the best sounding in the house ). I've only ever been to one event... and that was royal doof 4. Goddamn that was awesome... problem is they played some really shitty stuff that was so crap it wasn't even psy anymore. Kind of a mutant psy house hybrid or something crap . The couple dj's who actually played a decent sets (goddamn does B.P. Empire sound good loud) totally made up for it though. Apparently I'm a freak or something because I like goa trance and I haven't done any drugs .

I listen to it all the time, whether its Live Sets or individual tracks. I have friends who are DJ's who can get CDR's (promo's i guess) which i listen to as well + all the music i can buy from all the various sites

I do the work of a DJ but i dont spin, constantly listening to tracks to find that one sick track

Im getting a lot better w/recognizing tracks when i go to clubs but i envy some of the guys here who can do tracklistings in the Tracklisting Forum

In fact im so obsessed with it, that i put my car radio to a static station for when i have to eject a CD

The only time that i listen to other genres of music is when im in a friends car or @ their pad

i listen to a ton of music on my own, but i probably spend a good 10-15 hours every week dancing/listening at a club, bar or other venue

i would say i listen to music an average of 6-10 hours a day.

I've turned back to homelistening for various reasons..

Posted by mphreak on Jul-07-2008 15:45:

I listen EDM exclusively at my home and work for circa 6-7 hours per day. I don't like "partying" at the clubs... Somehow, I can't enjoy it as much as I want to outside of my house. I hate to see drugged kids jumping around, and saying "no" to the drug dealers. When I go out, I almost always go somewhere where I can't hear EDM, and enjoy old music like Beatles, The Who, etc...
