don't know it says on the discogs site that it was supposed to be a remake.

Of course, but that's not an excuse. I've seen some guys from Crydamoure in thz studio, they were sampling old jazz tracks, that was fucking artistic. But in the case of Aber it's just poor.

So what? That doesn't justify it, especially when the original artist doesn't get royalties or credits.

Posted by TranceArmstrong on Jul-17-2008 21:51:

shlomi aber doesn't suck, hasn't anyone ever heard Freakside, Moods, Sea of Sand, etc? He's not quite Aril Brika but not everyone can be. It's not like Shlomi Aber is Sean Tyas or anything. As for the plagarism, I've heard worse rip offs.

Thats your opinion, but most of us think otherwise. Yes I've heard those tracks. Don't play them though, because there is better music to be played, and Shlomi Aber isn't making it...

Have you listened to the tracks?

By that logic Aril could sue another 500 producers who have used this exact same pattern, the guy that created the first 303 track could sue all other tracks that use an acid line, etc etc etc.

It's just a generic sound that everyone is using right now. Big fucking deal.

fair enough. Just saying that IMO a producer featured on Cocoon Compilation H, Justin Martin, Satoshi Tomiie comps, etc doesn't exactly suck. I will concede that his recent output has been weaker than his first releases. Like that one that was basically a carbon copy of Freakside, for example.

having listened to both tracks in their entirety back to back, they sound pretty similar. Like, even the claps sound the same, which does not bode well for his presets argument.

Aril Brikha IMO has an argument that the music / notes are similar but it's a pretty standard sound that I feel I've heard many times before, he shouldn't be pissed about that.

Can we double this as an Aril Brikha appreciation thread?

Aber's Looking in God's Eyes

Trentemoller's Moan

Posted by noikeee on Jul-17-2008 23:13:

Sure, there is quite a big similarity there... thing is, this kind of track is a lot less standard than the other one Aril is calling for a "ripoff"... so this one is a bit more wrong IMO.

Yet on this one, from the samples I actually like Shlomi's track more than Trentemoller's, lol. Trentemoller's has a more interesting progression, but I like more the repetitive synths on Shlomi's.

Through stealing an idea he actually made something cool.

To be honest, I find both "Efrat" and "Groove la Chord" so incredibly mediocre and generic that I can't really even see what the fuss is about here.

Though I own and have played both on more than one occasion.

Doesn't mean it doesn't happen nor will it stop happening anytime soon. It's just a 4-8 beat loop of a synth he happened to like, then rearranged it. Would it have made a difference if he sampled the track vs. creating it on his own?

Posted by Omega_Blue on Jul-18-2008 00:07:

both have that same-y minor chord sound that's been done a billion times in current deep/tech house. rhythms are slightly different and pitched differently. i don't see a problem.

i don't think it's plagiarism on purpose if it is at all. not like, under pressure/ice ice baby plagiarism or superfreak/can't touch this plagiarism. meh.

It doesn't matter how he got there, what matters is that he got there without giving credit, which means the creator gets neither recognition nor any money for someone else's plagiarism. Even if you play around with something extensively, you should give credit to the source.

Hi, everyone. Thats been way out of head [sic].

I was just notified about this sad blog and nevertheless this sad issue.

At the beginning I was sure its a joke, though seems like Aril has gone too far here.

Ive been very disappointed to see Mr. Brikha posting this blog, acting like complete jerk and avoiding checking this issue with me first.

To make all clear the main synth, PLAYED out from my access Virus Ti !! PRESET H46, twiked [sic] form (you are all welcome to check it easily), which to be honest you can find in 1000s of other tracks.

All of the tracks samples, notes and keys been clear and original.

Im not stealing parts and have no reason to do so; the sound may be a bit similar or the same idea, but i guess he also used the same preset .

I can say the same about million other tracks I found on the net which contain sounds from my tracks, which means that if we using preset we dont own them, if you check carefully you can find a million other tracks which used with the same preset, though none of them is tagged as Shlomi Aber and didnt pull the fire in.

I wonder what of the German producers wav will say about it, as they all use the same Moogs bass and machines.

As I do have the proofs for all the above, and as this accusation was unforgivable, a legal act on my behalf has been exercised on this matter.

So a nice surprise is waiting for Mr. Brikha very soon; Im sure he will check the facts deeper for the next time before he will accuse someone of something without any proof, and playing with someone elses name and carrier with no justifications.

From both me and him, Im the one who hold the proofs.

Have a nice day. Best regards, Shlomi Aber

oooo drama!

He is kind of right though that Brikha could handled this a little better than blogging about it.

What a load of horseshit.

I AM THE ONE WHO HOLDS THE PROOFS! I WOULD HAVE SEX WITH ALL THIS PROOFS!
