I never went to bed lol...

ill first start off by saying i just got back from work thinking I had a shift today. woke up at 7 shower shaved went there and was told i dont work... now im lieing in bed still recovering lol.

all i gotta say is that this wemf was fuckin awsome. friday night was great but I couldnt get into any of the djs at the 4x4 cause the volume was so bloody low at the starting. Me and my friend were right at the front having a casual conversation lol. i ended up at at the renegade stage beside the friday nite dnb stage. holy fuck they brought me back into hard trance, i was loving every minute of it even broke out the glowsticks for the first time in ages lol. started to pass out in those recliner dealies at the back of the stage so decided to pass out for the night. it was really different just drinking at wemf. i spent saturday day completly hungover even the lake didnt help too much which was absolutly beautiful. i wish i took pictures and brought some beers i coulda spent all day there easily, crystal clear water and gorgous scenery for miles. if anyone has any pics of the lake with the two washrooms please post em!

saturday night i was still exhausted and hungover and was contemplating going to sleep for a cpl hrs but said fuck it and started drinking hard.. its the last wemf... go hard or go home. i cant believe no one has said anything about marcus intalex's set. i think this was by far the best set i heard all weekend. puuure dnb groove the entire time. MC drs was killing it and when tali came on and they started going back n forth it made my fuckin nite! once it ended i needed more booze and i got about half way before i hear the starting of andy c's intro.... iv never ran that fast before in my life! lol. trippin over camp chairs i finally reach there and damn that was sick intro lol. his set was damn good too but i was starting to get way too tired throughout the end. and im too tired to type anymore. drive was back was brutal went like 20 kph for half of it... and mcdonalds felt like a amazing gourmet lunch lol

to the girl that was lost, sorry i couldnt help ya u were making absolutly no sense, cant find a single red tent at wemf when its dark, hope ya got back ok lol.

and on that note i sleep. peace


note to destiny: please give us wemfers and a big mofo of a stage at cemf!

nuf said, if you didn't see Tali come out during Intelex and Lynx you missed the best of WEMF. Those base lines just rolled over and destroyed me. At first i was really pissed off when i heard they'd changed up the 4x4 and DnB stages but they def. made the right decision.

Stoneface and Terminal also blew me away! I got to live my dream... hearing "More than Anything" played by some of my favorite djs!

Yes guy! Andy had the place in a frenzy for the 1.5 hours i saw but then i went over to see Max Graham who i totally enjoyed, he plyed a lot of tracks i wanted to hear... cant remember any of but yeah.

Then came Kyau he played a little bit too much of the Euphonic stuff(i know he has to push it but damn) anyways it was just too one sided sounding for me and he was a little ver the top with the singing and air guitaring for me and running of stage doing whatever he was doing. Hearing Velvet morning was my highlight in his set, sadly i missed S&T earlier in the night.

Marc Marburg played some played out tunes as someone said.

i would luv to write a full review but i wasn't there on friday so ill leave it the rest of you guys. All in all a good Wemf for me.

Edit: how many people got lost on the way back, navigating half a sleep is no fun, lol.

drive started off a lil long with traffic on the fucking 401, but after that was flowing nicely took us around 5hours from leaving toronto at 2pm. nice scenery all around loved it

yea my ticket beeped too but they still let me in without any trouble

wow some serious searching this time, ******s took away my red peppers and Lithuanian vodka *grunt* but thank you

found a nice spot right in front of some house stage and inbetween the 4x4 and dnb main stages... great location loved being in the middle of it all

main stages looked fucking bomb especialy the bottom one..

music wise:
friday night was great saw ASYS who fucking rocked it hard, also the psy dj before ASYS killed it too... was aweasome with the full moon up and fog

saturday day music sucked, all the little stages were either playing house or dnb fuuck some variety would have been nice..
night time things kicked off well
OS/2 and Anabolic Frolic was great, funky shit
Stoneface and terminal absolutely fucking owned id gladly let them play for 3 or 4 hours instead of ALL THE OTHER TRANCE DJS. They played TRANCEPONDERRR w00t
MArk EG fucking owned, sick sick sick moving tunes... i dont know why u ppl diss on him... i thought he sucked last wemf but this time i gave him a chance and i couldnt sotp dancing totaly aweasome and hes funny to watch

christopher lawrence was ok.. sometimes he'd be really good sometimes it was kinda bland.. typical of him i never expect much from this guy

In short, the organization was shit, but the event itself was still amazing. Katie and I were able to see things from behind the scenes, and it's surprising that everything went as smoothly as it did. VIPs this year got totally shafted. I feel soo sorry for the people who actually bought VIP tickets - what a gigantic waste of money.

We have like 4GBs of backstage videos and pics. It'll be a while before you guys see them cause we're so busy, but the wait will be well worth it - some serious gems in there.

Coming home, we agreed that it's the last one, cause it doesn't feel like Destiny wants to put in the effort to make it happen anymore.

Oh well. Still had a great time.

Edit: full review coming much, much later too. Too many things to mention in it.

CEMF, but it just wont be the same, that sort of crazy atmosphere wont go down as well with a large rock crowd. From what i remember reading of last years CEMF the majority of the attendees were annoyed with the 'loud "techno" music'.

But if the lineups good enough, it might still be worth checking out, however this years definatly isnt.

Good WEMF, glad it's the last cause I probably wouldn't go again. How there was more hot women on Friday than Saturday I'll never know lol?? Music was OK, not enough Trance. 100% buzzkill switching the stages, ... and worst of all NOT 1 FUCKING LASER!?!?!?!?!?

Quite a way to wrap up an era.

The setup of the mainstage was incredible, with rolling hills in the background. A real shame that they switched stages after the first night...especially since I set up shop (sort of) near it. The DnB was insanely loud...it was vibrating the ground as I was trying to grab some shuteye on Sunday morning. Ah well, its all part of the experience.

Got there Friday afternoon in the pissing rain. Insane car searches, and waterlogged WEMF-ers. When the sun finally poked through the clouds, there was a roar of cheers from everyone on site.

Friday night was the highlight for me. ASYS totally blew me out of the water, and JELO, as usual, cranked up his performance for WEMF. Awesome tunes on Friday!

Actually got some decent sleep, and woke up to the sounds of the renegade stages. Good tunes from a bunch of them. Was nice to hear some house at wemf for a change. The sunny day inspired us to get out and find a place to swim. Luckily, a friend of mine that came up knew the area and took us to all the best beaches and swimming holes.

We came back to the campsite at around noon and that meant a quick breeze through security. As it got hotter in the afternoon we decided to go for another dip. And on our way...we found out that all those new laws about going 50 over...yeah, they're all true. Our car got impounded and the driver lost his license.

That kinda put a damper on the rest of Saturday afternoon. So we grabbed some shuteye...and unfortunately I slept through Stoneface and Terminal (more ), but caught most of the others.

Mark EG - entertaining as hell. It doesn't really matter what he plays, he's just downright hilarious to watch.

Ronski Speed - set of the night for me. It took a lot of work to look past the technicals of his mixing (3 trainwrecks), but he knew how to work the mood of the night. Remixes of classics (Robert Miles - Children, Star 69, etc) and some of his own remixes. Was perfect for me, with the full moon out, dancing under the stars. Amazing experience.

Christopher Lawrence was good, but I wasn't feeling that psy-ish blend at the moment, so only hung out for half the set.

Came back for Kyau and Albert...or just Albert. Who seemed to be just "going through the motions", and playing tunes. I guess I had high expectations because of their monumental performance at 2GetherAs1 at the Docks last year.

All in all, one hell of an adventure and a good way to wrap it up.

The reason for Albert not showing up is because they had a gig booked in Brazil the night before (stupid), so there was no way for both of them to play that gig and fly up to Toronto and drive out to Madawaska for their set time, so they had no choice but to split the gigs between the 2, or flat out cancel out on WEMF... so let's all be thankful that at least Ralph made it.

quick review:

Venue: 3/10:
-no trees
-some of the small stages where to close.
-because of the terrain, it was impossible to isolate the stages.
-gotta love drunken mountain climbing.

Event:

-time slots
-music

Stoneface & Terminal were good, so was Ronski (I don't care so much about mixing, he was into it and delivered a good set overall)

I have a feeling that they wanted to give the headliners (Lawrence&Graham) a chance to play the 'good trance tracks' so they were holding off a little bit..

Too bad that the so-called headliners played their things, sometimes breaking the musical flow.
Imagine a one hour 'seek' button on a radio.
Max set was good, but not long enough to really get into it.

Destinys probably placed Kyau&albert at the end because they were expecting ->nice sunrise, nice trance, nice moment.
apparently Kyau wasnt in that mood.

GOOD JOB to one of the stage setup somewhere in the tents field(near the cars, just above the fence).
thumbs up to the DJs playing there. You deserved a lot more space than what you got.

Having gone up with three friends who preferred DnB/Jungle over Trance, the switch, of course, made sense to them. During the times I went back to see them (they did come up to see parts of Lawrence and Graham with me) at the Main Stage, it was clear why they made the change: There were simply more DnB/Jungle fans than Trance fans at the event. A simple estimate of the attendance at each stages' headliners showed a 2:1 ratio. That, and the DnB lineup had more A-listers for that genre than ours did (IMHO, of course). Left later than we wanted Friday afternoon so had to detour around the 401 traffic. Got there late only to have the same ticket problem others were having on one of our tickets (which were still CLEARLY connected to each other, but the guy at the gate didn't care). Had to call Ticketmaster, but the problem solved quickly and got in 30 min later. Ditto on the searches being too long for glass and pointy objects. Finally got in around 11:30. Found a spot near the Main Stage (when it was still 4x4) and tried to set up mid-party (a little difficult considering the 500m walk from the parking spot we had and the mud on the way there) but we finally got up and going after midnight. Had a good time Friday night meeting new people and dancing, but the highlight of the night was when Deko closed the night with Madagascar - threw me into a frenzy! Haven't heard anyone other than Ferry drop that in a long time and it made the last WEMF special to me since that was the track that got me fully into Trance (away from the Hardcore/Ravesound scene).

Spent most of Saturday TRYING to sleep . Couldn't do it in the tent since it was WAAAAAY too hot we had to layabout in our lounge (Gazebo tent - we were the ones that had a purple and white flag hanging from the front of it that looks like the Canada flag, but in place of the Maple Leaf was a big letter W and the word SPUR beneath it). Things were OK until the Main Stage started its DnB assault so no sleep for me after that. Tried to assemble the newly purchased Propane BBQ in the afternoon -- the instruction manual said: Do not Attempt to assemble this unit while drinking alcohol and while under the influence of Prescription AND NON-PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. WE half expected the manual to end off with PLUR).

When the evening rolled around, my friend and I went to see Dr. Trance (he should have had a bigger turnout) and watched him rock an awesome old school set. Got in some nice classics - and even dropped the Pink Panther (he was to funny dancing around to it).

After that, went back to the tent and 'Got Ready' for the night. Caught the opening of Andy C's set -- it was pretty awesome considering I'm not a huge fan of that genre -- then I went up to see Lawrence. He did a great job, but I wasn't feeling his set that much. Had a photog snap a picture of me glowstringing with my Flowtoys then he gave me a Hatiras CD and told me to look on his site for the photo! Finally, the guy I came to see came on and blew me away. Max Graham was effin AMAZING - I couldn't stop bouncing! the only bad thing I could say about that set was "who was that idiot dancing behind him?" what a tosser!

Went back down to the main stage to catch the sunrise. Whoever was on at that point was playing some decent Breaks. Couldn't sleep with the stage being on till 8:30 (Note to McFly - $1000 fine for playing past the preset ending time!!! lol). Packed up right away and left to beat the crowd.

All in all it was an amazing event and would keep going if Destiny decides to continue. Maybe Ryan et all can take a page out of the big euro festivals like DanceValley and do a one day event -- possibly at Downsview (The drive home always blows!)

The stages were the other way around the previous night.

I'm pretty sure they switched them up because 80% of the people there, were there for the Jungle.

I'm not into jungle AT ALL... but i have to agree with that statement. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.

and I really hate MC's, but Tali's got some skills! LOVED the singing!
