Armins a kick ass guy, im sure he's not taking the guv to the cleaners on the price. The guv is one of his fav clubs in the world.

I don't think it matters - he knows Guv is gonna keep booking him, even if he charges an astronomical price.

Anyway, it looks like this LOL is geared towards Armin fanboys. I'm not one, so I guess I'll voluntary skip out on this. First LOL to have me completely uninterested - I like to have at least SOME variety in my Trance.

However im also biased by the fact Theory had a good DnB lineup, and Deekline + Wizard for breaks.

Why did you post last years line up?

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Jul-25-2008 15:32:

To compare the relative shittiness? :P

P.S. Import, so far in terms of DNB I know only of TC. ehhh.

Ahh...wasn't quite clear you were comparing this LOL to last years LOL. I thought you were comparing this years to the DNB party, but then posted last year's lineup by mistake.

Dunno, but I don't see why not. TC's listing it on his myspace.

I'm waiting for Theory lineup too.

Yep; if I hit up LoL (unlikely) it'll be mostly to see these two.

*heart* house music

Nah dood, the crowdedness inherent to these parties is a huge reason why I'm not sure if I'll ever go to another all access event. My experience with Freedom this year was terrible in terms of there being too many people inside every room in the club.

i'm just gonna repost this in this thread...

This lineup could easily be seen when they did Ultra Spins!

i mean Armin is soooo friggin Recycled in Toronto and whare is all the progressive stuff like a Digweed or Sasha or even Deep Dish or Luke fair or Sander K ? I mean really whare is it? its been sooo lacking there latley! Guv is really going DownHill!

Guv going downhill, I disagree. They have had some AMAZING parties this year... involving a lot of prog and a lot of house...2008 was rung in by Sander K to start things off...

This is still a staked line-up... Big names for one of the biggest parties of the year. Sure, it may not be everyone's perfect party set up (Because its not mine for sure)...but we've been spoiled in Toronto this year for music...

....but as always, everyone needs to complain about something....

Just because you like the lineup doesn't mean everyone else has to shut up. There are issues in this city when it comes to certain type of music and there will be complains whether you like it or not. If you are so excited to see the almighty van buuren for the tenth time that's fine, but it wouldn't really hurt to unscrew your mind and see what's out there beside the regular fifteen DJs that you know about. Toronto knows how to party but it doesn't know shit when it comes to different varieties of music, and there I said it.

have you ever thought about it this way?
just because toronto doesnt listen/play the music that you like does not mean it is shit.
the same goes for people complaining about certain djs being shit because the dj didnt play the songs that they wanted to hear.

Posted by kaniz on Jul-25-2008 19:21:

But you cant deny that the Guv't keeps re-hashing allot of the same DJs. Good DJs or not, it's nice to see some variety.

Sure, bring a big-name crowd pleaser that will draw the crowd, but why not put someone good/new that possibly doesn't have the same level of recognition on before/after the headliner.

Posted by spolitta on Jul-25-2008 19:41:

When I said Toronto doesn't know about variety I meant that they are still happy to see the same people over and over again, I didn't say the music is shit. When you are happy to see the same acts multiple times a year it could mean that your wishlist is empty.

And no, I listen to a wide range of music, EDM is just one of them, and within the category of EDM I listen to variety of shit. But I should mention that I'm mostly complaining about the trance scene which is non-existent if you take AVB, PVD and a few other out of the picture.

Another thing I don't understand is how some people freak out when someone starts complaining about the scene. I'm happy that you get to see all your favorites, but that doesn't prove a point. For me there are 3 or 4 DJs who if they came to Toronto at least once a year then I would have no motivation to complain. I'm really tired of driving to Montreal, Windsor, Hamilton, Madawaska and etc to see DJs who could have been booked for Toronto. But no, Guvy has to book the same DJs over and over, I'm surprised Blake Jarrell isn't on LoL this year.

You make a good point here. But Guv has contracts with these guys... Destiny has contracts with other DJ's, CIRCA has contracts with mostly house DJ's etc etc etc etc

Posted by chinamon on Jul-25-2008 19:50:

why does everyone complain about guv when there are other venues in toronto that bring in talent? if you dont like the djs that guv brings in then go to another venue. its not that hard to figure out. guv has already established their relationship with certain djs and agencies while other venues have theirs.

Posted by kaniz on Jul-25-2008 19:58:

we bitch because we love our scene, and want to see it improve instead of stagnate, so we can continue loving our scene.
