Gotta love how the government has stopped all tourist and most other visas from being issued and things won't be normal again until September.
To be able to go back to where my stuff is is still in question even though I applied for the stupid thing as soon as I got back to Canada

saw a bit of the canadian girls in football action this morning before work. Argentinians looked like no match for them. I'm actually quite surprised they even pulled one back.
Kara Lang's header for 2-0 was really nicely executed
damn..these olympics are gonna be one hell of a sports overload.
That soccer game was brilliant.....go Canadian ladies!!
I'm sorry but this was a STUPID idea to put such a high profile tourist event in a country that requires a visa for anyone non-Chinese to even step foot in their soil.
I happen to be staying with my parents (who live in Shanghai) until I start schooling in Australia in February. When I left Toronto I appied for a visa and the immigration officer advised me to get a one year, multi-entry visa since I wouldn't be working (you need a company to sponsor you to legally get one of those) and also because I'm over 18 and considered "independent" from my parents as I was living on my own in Toronto so I could not retain alien residency under my father. So I pursued one of those and it expired in June....you have to go back to your home country now to get a new visa due to new laws established in the government at some random whim.
Now that the Olympics are in place the government has ordered no more tourist visas to be issued and anyone that needs to get into the country that isn't a citizen or isn't sponsored by a company is screwed. The government in China tends to change the visa laws daily....maybe they have ADHD? Or maybe they're just bored...who knows!
I was really looking forward to experiencing the Olympics spirit there(my friend said the people are crazily excited even in Shanghai...it's pure, exciting madness!) and sleeping in my bed after two months of traveling but it doesn't seem like that's happening anytime soon
as someone who has dealt with the ridiculous chinese visa laws quite often..all i have to say is money buys everything

Anyone have a link to the games schedule? No matter what I wanna catch the mens 100 meter race LIVE. Lots of other events I care about, but the mens "fastest man alive" sprint has always been viewed LIVE for me!
