They did what 99% of djs are to lazy to do split up the tracks.
If you burn this to cd without the 2sec gab between each track you get a regular mixed cd with 12 individual tracks rather then 1 long 74min mix.
IMO, this is much better.

Forget burning mix CDs - just get a deck in your car that supports USB keys and you'll never look back

meh. I think djs should do both.. both methods have their merits and uses. Who's with me here?

no. you fail. split up tracks are better.

I liked your Lithgow-looking avatar better.

Splitting up tracks takes away a few nuances I find, those transitions from one track to another gets lost by doing that. The dj journey/story is lost.

Ummm dude you are just lazy or lost, maybe both, 99% of people here agree splitting the tracks are better and well so do I. How do you loose the transition by splitting....did you know that this set was recorded live and is one continuous mix. They did us the favor and broke it out into individual tracks so that you can skip forward and back. Welcome to the 21st century now go out and download a "free" burning software and STFU.

I prefer it as one long mp3 with a cue file instead. It doesn't matter if you burn it without a 2 second gap or not - you will end up with a tiny gap in between each track regardless. The reason for this is that mp3s have a fraction of a second of silence at the start and end of each track. Unless the split up tracks are sent out as .wav's then you will end up with a hiccup in between each track.

Or a changer that plays CD-Rs with a bunch of MP3s.

The problem with all of these, though, is that they never design the fast forward to work with long mixes. I want to be able to press a button to skip 5 minutes ahead.

If they're split before encoding, the transitions will never be seamless once they're MP3s. On the other hand, if they're directly split afterwards then they're technically not valid MP3 files because they don't have headers - and they still won't burn seamlessly unless you actually join the files first.

One MP3 with a cuesheet is the best option. You can burn it with no transition blips, and if you just want to listen on your PC, you can run a script that'll split up and tag the individual tracks within seconds.
