Easily the best boat cruise I've ever been on. The crowd that day was truly superb, with tunage galore. Weather was perfect, and we got full value for every dollar spent.

In terms of being the best party ever, well, it's in my top 3, that's for sure.

Ive seen Flemming 3x, and he's never failed to deliver I can say, Krist!

My J00F experience left nothing wanting. I got there at 1 with my boys, and to my delight John was already banging like mad. One of the best, mad, frantic parties I've been to. The night seemed to move in ultra-fast motion, it was over before I knew it, and I didn't want to leave.

Reach for the lasers!

I decided to come that morning
I was in the main room most of the night, then left for The Drink once it opened (not my choice)
JOOF has some crazy f*cking energy
anyway it was a messy night for me... drank too much and somehow tore a huge hole in my tank top... it looked like a slit all down the right side

It was an ok night, and a mediocre set. Smunky and I walked in around 12, and just cursed our selves for having done so, because of the horrific opening set that Mark Oliver was playing. To our pleasant surprise Fleming came on early (around 1?).

It seemed like he was trying to find the crowd all night. The set kind of went all over the place, because he just was not sure what to play. Last time, he had a very good sense of what the crowd wanted, and did not want, because he came on late and we were warmed up.

This time around, we were not warmed up, and he tried to do the work himself. He did a decent job of warming us up for the first 40-60min. After that he tried to get going, and get a bit banging. It sort of worked.

I just did not feel like he was constantly building, but instead constantly tweaking. A vocal here, a big bass line there, a break down here, and a classic there. He played a lot more 'cheesy' vocals, than I was hoping for, with some that just seemed strange for Joof to play.

In the end, I had a good night, and got to listen to a true DJ. That is the curse of somebody who plays completely unique sets every time: they can be hit and miss. Props for trying, always trying, but sometimes it just does not work. It was great hearing some trance, some psy-trance, and even some progressive psy-trance.

It was great partying with the TA's, and the group that came out, was just amazing. Great vibe in the place, and the crowd was wicked. Very friendly, and lots of smiling faces. Plenty of room to dance, and never too hot.

Tune of the night: Universal Nation (god I love this track). Mortyman and I heard it coming a mile away, a big high five and then we busted a move.

PS - there was a bunch of 'noobs' who were going off, at the weirdest times. Not even at the peak of a song, or in the break down. Just random shouting and hooting in that pack. Strange, but at least they were having fun.

This song is pretty old. I remember having it on one of my sets. Cant recall it. I am sure someone can ID it. It is a pretty distinguishable track if you know the title.

Incase some of you don't know, J00F puts out a monthly diary covering his opinions of the scene, artist updates and gig reviews. His new diary was posted today...

quote:
During my 20 years in this career Ive hardly taken any days off sick, and Ive been through some horrific things in the pastbeing hit by a speed boat being one of them! I often see my friends taking the odd sneaky sicky day off work, even when they only have a hint of a cold or simply cant be bothered to work that day. In my position its impossible to do this, not that I want to though! Something inside me fights through; flus, colds and other bugs that we all pick up. Somehow my body fights them off until I get home, then they hit me hard. I never want to let people down that come to see me at a club or festival, it eats me inside knowing that Im letting people down. Unfortunately I had one of those weekends just the other week.

I have a very high pain threshold, but the other day while in the studio I got hit by the most intense pain Ive ever had in my life, so much so I had to call an ambulance. Once in hospital it turns out that I have a problematic Kidney stone. Thats a typical scenario of my life, I cant have something simple! Immediate surgery was needed to protect my kidney from getting infected, worst case being possible losing my kidney.

This all happened on a Wednesday, and while lying in my hospital bed the following day I was planning how I could make it to my gig in Houston, Texas that weekend. I was even texting my agent in the USA, overruling my UK managements decision telling them that Im going to try and make it. Unfortunately that was the pain killers talking and the severe pain was hitting me hard, also they had just inserted a stem (tube) inside me that need time to settle and this was also causing discomfort and pain. Im afraid it was a no go and I was devastated that I couldnt make it the Houston. Im really sorry to everyone who was going to attend or made it to the club to see that I wasnt there. I promise that Ill be back there very soon to make up for it.

Eventually the following week I was allowed home, once they where happy that the stem was working OK. But it wasnt over yet, the dam Kidney stone is still stuck inside me. They called me back into hospital the following Thursday to laser blast the stone. I was now worried because I had two North American gigs lined up for this weekend. I was reading the pamphlet they gave me on this treatment: possible side effects; nausea, vomiting, intense pain and peeing blood.oh great!! So battling on I went ahead with the treatment and made sure I got back home the following night

Then followed up by....

quote:
The next night I was at one of my favourite clubs in the world,Guverment in Toronto. Ive been playing at this club for almost 15 years now. WOW! They always give you long sets, and having one of the best resident DJs in the World (Mark Oliver) professionally opening up for me, makes my life much easier. Having 3 hours to play with, I can start of really dark, deep and the tempo is slow thanks to Mark. I love building my sets gradually. Everyone whos familiar with my sound, know it will get pretty hard near the end. So I feel them with me on my journey because they know whats eventually coming around the corner. The others who dont know me, get a surprise when I let out the onslaught of harder beats! Its this reason I love this club, because the punters give you the time and space allowing me to do my jobmeaning no impatient clubbers waiting for the candy. My 3-hour set flew by, but as I said above I was in a huge amount of pain and couldnt continue anymore, I knew my limit and asked mark to take over for the last few hours. Im really sorry to everyone who thought that I may be playing longer, also that I didnt say hi to you at the end of my set. I needed to get some fresh air and a sit down.

After knowing all that, he still apologizes for not giving his greetings. Top class.
