| Originally posted by nefardec so my friend just calls me and tells me that she has been made manager of a bar where I am doing my thesis in ithaca, ny. the owner of the bar is moving to LA and was going to sell the bar, but she convinced him to hand it over to us. this friend used to throw parties with me all the time and now our group of friends/collective has control over a bar from thursday through saturday.. meaning i will be playing all night like twice a week and handling booking. granted, it's in ithaca, ny, which is a college town for two schools and a legendary hippie town, but i've never run a bar before but I can't wait. It is a wine and sake bar and we will be playing only house and techno as I book it ![]() awesome going to play the first three opening nights this thursday, fri, and sat |
congrats man.
Just make sure you know all the bi laws before implementing anything, and always be wary of putting your own money into a bar unless you are sure it won't matter if you don't see it back. You have the chance to do something very rewarding (mostly musically and perhaps even financially although a stretch), make the most of it and enjoy every second of it.
thanks jay
yeah the good thing about this is, i am still a student at the university (cornell university) and I started a student organization five years ago with university funding to sponsor electronic music events, etc.
so I can use university money to book deejays as long as it's through this student organization shell haha
