What can I do to fix this?? Is there anything I can d/l from the internet??

Yes, I'm a fucking idiot.

Ben, can you install XP on a computer that's obviously about 10 years old? I thought XP was huge...

Yes. You might need to upgrade the RAM/HD space for good measure, but XP isn't that big of a constraint on the system.

No, her computer is going to take a shit. The thing has like 128mb of ram and it is like an AMD K6-2 or something.

Oooooooooooh, can't she do a system restore? Like make her computer go back to the way it was before she deleted whatever it was she deleted?

Nah because she removed it from the system totally. It is an easy fix, but the bitch didn't wait for good advice.

You can easily get a decent XP-capable machine for a couple hundred bucks.

Posted by Dervish on Aug-08-2008 19:47:

Least hassle is likely to use that >Driver Scan<. Then download what you need.

Or download a ubuntu live cd and run of that... can't break it. lol

Nah well XP is ok but if you can be bothered with minimal buggering about ubuntu is better. Unless you play games etc... which if you're using 98 I doubt. lol

Did you already empty your recycle bin??

If not, just double click it, then restore all of the files in there and reboot..

If that doesn't work, this is how to fix it:

Click Start > Shut Down > Restart in MS-DOS mode. At the command prompt, type "scanreg /restore" (without the quotes). Note that there is a space after scanreg. You'll be given a choice of dates. Select one and click Restore.

Done.

LOL wow. just get out already. UNINSTALL = DELETED BY SYSTEM. aka NO recycle bin and no registry restore. The files are gone.
