| Originally posted by Ryan0751 Yeah you just need to develop a work flow that works for you ![]() My work flow for new tracks: 1. Download new tracks to a "New Tracks" folder on my iMac desktop. 2. Open mixed in key, let it key the tracks. 3. Drag newly keyed tracks into iTunes into a "New Tracks" playlist. 4. Open Reason with a piano sound, fixing any tracks mixed in key keyed incorrectly by checking them by ear (MIK is wrong quite often, but does speed up the process) 5. Change the genre tag to one of my custom genres, so that the new tracks show up in the appropriate smart playlists. 6. Once I have that done, I use "Tuneranger" to synchronize the "New Tracks" playlist to my Macbook Pro over the network (which is where I DJ from) 7. Open Traktor and let it build the overlays for the new tracks. I also tend to make playlists in iTunes for when I know I'm going to be playing a set with specific "feels" or "moods". I also sync these up to my laptop. Keeps everything nice and well organized for me, with a copy on both my iMac and Macbook Pro. And when I plug in my iPod to my iMac, I get the new tracks as well as my playlists for listening in the car. Oh, and once every few weeks or so I use a great tool called "SuperDuper" to make a bootable full backup of both machines to external hard drives, which I then store in a safe. |

I don't believe anyone answered my question regarding getting the 'album' culumn to show up. I don't mean in Serato...I mean right in OS X. Even the music folder within my profile doesn't have it. Do you guys have any ideas? |
It really doesn't take long. I can do 20 new tracks in like 15-20 minutes. And once it's done, it's done!
Oh another Mac thing that rocks... quick view. If you click a file (photo, mp3, pdf, video, etc.) in the finder, hit space. It's opens a nice little viewer/player thing to look at the files. I use that all the time now.

Funny thing is...the better organized you are, the better your sets will come out...I find anyways. I noticed when I wing a gig without at least doing some prep to my tracks etc...I get there, and often forget to play tracks taht I wanted to. I really should start thinking of applying a more formal sequence to my music folders and tracks. Another thing to add to the list.
