Whoa... I had no idea this thread was from 5 years ago. This was by far the best thing that ever happened to my, job wise. It was my first gig as a lecturer, and I had the time of my life for 2 years.
I don't think it could actually get any better than this. All right, it would be way more awesome if I could spin records in class and ride unicorns during the lectures. But it's good enough

Doing scuba tours somewhere warm would probably be incredible. Unless you're paid per gig, in which case it might be annoying, unless you pushed yourself to dangerous levels.

I imagine starting out at EA (or going there early in your career) like starting out at a giant law firm. Nice pay, horrible hours, and going no where fast. Eventually that nice pay starts to not be worth it.

Absolutely, most programming stints are a drag; Unless you're working on your own research and development. "Do what you love and makes you happy", and I'd add "Save for retirement".
Have enough money to be happy and work on the things you love.
