After reading this thread look's like Montreal has the best of everything. Longest running techno-night in North-America(actually that one is probably true), best sound system in North-America, best men in the business to tune the sound system.

Promoters, PLEASE, don't make such statements unless you have actually been to EVERY SINGLE club in North America within the last 2 weeks and can confirm it.

and Dan and Biggy... we don't wanna see any arguing on whos the best... This forum is not like ravemontreal... keep it cool
we don'T want to see you two fight in here. cause thats what kids do.
"my dad is stronger than yours... bla bla bla...
my music is better than yours... bla bla bla...
you get my point.

Dan,
my father like the good sound so yes he's proud of me.
As for the DJ booth at Stereo, this is a joke!!
Gold plated turnatables??? In what paint will change something to the sound? There is a old Urei mixer and the booth is so high you can't even see who's the dj in the booth.
As for Angel, this is a other joke because he's deaf.
How you want a dj make a good EQ when yo are deaf? As for the the ''best sound men in the business'' this is your choice and but alot of people don't think like you.

As for Stereo, the room is smaller, so it's more easy to get the sound good there. Aslo they don't have EQ problem like Sona or Aria because there is no techno at Stereo and it's always house music so the EQ is supposed to be the same both friday and saturday.

This was my last post about this subject, sorry!

Man, this is getting stupid. Its really pointless argueing on here. There are what 30/40 montreal tas tops... is debating here it going to make any difference in attendance.

By the way dan, biggy said he was trying to create the best sound in north america. He never said it was, there's a big difference.

Posted by Biggy on Jun-01-2002 18:31:

We don't think we are the best, but we are working to be better every week.

Posted by Durafei on Jun-01-2002 19:46:

Actually Beethoven was deaf, yet he was one of the best composers ever

Ok Fast, tell me which other 'scenes' have you visited?, ever seen to LA, NYC, San Fransisco????.. and even if you have did you spend a week jist to party?

... Doubt it

and dammit, Montrealers are ALL alike, pisses me off, always like my home is the best and they dont open their eyes to what else is out there. I like Montreal too (living here right now), but I definatly not one to say that its the best w/o having been elsewhere to confirm it.

sylphin tu sais trs bien que j'ai raison

nope never partied out of montreal (not even 1 minute hehe) BUT comparing to the other north american cities (how may djs they get , how many QUALITY djs they get , the reputaion of clubs , etc ...) i know our city is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better . look at aria's line-up for june and tell me if there is any other north american city that can compete against us ... there is NONE , maybe Ibiza , but Ibiza is in europe

montreal is the capital of techno (detroit looks lame in front of us) , montreal has the best 100% dedicated to house music club in the world (stereo) , montreal has the best chicks (confirmed by many of u ppl from toronto) , and montreal is by definition the party city .

the key of the success ? competition ! 3 after-hours in a one mile area (sona/stereo/aria) , i know trance is not that well represented , but if u want house music you know where to go , if you want techno you know where to go , u don't like this techno guest dj ? u can check the other techno guest dj in the other after-hour . WE HAVE THE CHOICE , others don't , et c'est les clients qui sont les gagnants .

FASTDJMP3.... You say Montreal is better, eh??

How many times has Tiesto been to Montreal? 4 times(including his appearance on June 8th)
How many tiems has Tiesto been to Toronto? 4 times.

How many times has Armin been to Montreal? Twice.
How many times has Armin been to Toronto? 3 times(including his next appearance on June 15th)

How many times has Ferry been to Montreal? Once.
How many times has Ferry been to Toronto? Twice.
Gielen already performed in Toronto as well.
Marco V is gonna be here same weekend as he'll be at Aria.

In fact, I could go on and on and on.. Give me ONE big name Trance/Prog House DJ who hasn't been to Toronto as many times as he's been to Montreal?

On the other hand there are quite a few HUGE DJs who's been to Toronto more times than to Montreal(do names Carl Cox or Paul van Dyk ring a bell?).

Now you are gonna tell me that Montreal has better house scene. Whatever.. Toronto has MUCH better d'n'b/jungle scene. So let's call it equal here.

True you have chicks.. Beautiful chicks. But fuck man.. If I wanna see half-naked sexy chicks I go to strip bar. If I wanna pick up, go to clubs. But when I go to raves, I go there to hear my favourite DJs, and not to stare at the girl who pretends to be a porn-star.

well... tiesto will do 3 nights counted this next weekend... does that count as 3 appearance ? lol
Armin will come back to montreal in septembre... so we're even on that... and ferry will be back in october. and don'T forget the time he was supposed to be there but couldn't show up. hehehe

And for the girls who pretends to be porn-star... hahahaha i got nothing to say on that. there's sure a lot of teasers.

Posted by Durafei on Jun-01-2002 23:34:

Armin in september, Ferry in October, count times when ferry didn't show up..

Well,, ferry didn't show up in Toronto twice, I don't count that.

As far as Armin in September, Ferry in October go.... I don't look that far ahead. Who knows, maybe they'll be in Toronto as well.

The only big trance act who haven't been to TO, but will be in Montreal soon is Rank 1.

Posted by malek on Jun-01-2002 23:35:

Tiesto by the way will play twice in Montreal june 6th and 8th...

Armin and Corsten are coming again later on this year.

We have events that you guys can't even dream of. I'll start by saying Swirl, Cream, Bal en Blanc, Oasis, Celebration, Connected, Black & Blue, heck I'll even name Mutek, ........

We have an excellent array of renowed local DJs and artists, Fred Everything, Tiga, Lafleche, Misstress Barbara, Miguel Graca, Jardinieres, etc etc...

How about Angel Moraes(NYC) opening up his own club in Montreal because he liked the vibe in here? Oh yeah that place is called Stereo Best analog sound system in North America.

How about the rise of Aria? They got the best line up last year and it was their first year. Now check them out during their second year. Add to that an amazing Meyer sound system ( the best I heard ever) and you got an explosive venue! They were the first to have the Meyer system in North America. Who were the second? A club called Newtown, oh yeah its in Montreal too.

What to say about Sona? These guys have built a legacy with their music/club/way of life, the crowd is amazing, its almost a religion for some. And wait till these guys move to a new venue...

If Boronto is so popular and hip and bla bla why is there more Toronto people coming over here to party than the other way around?

I'll always remember when I arrived at a Toronto hotel, the clerk asking me where I came from. The guy promptly told me: "Why did you come here? The party is always in Montreal, its pretty boring in here."

And finally Jungle/DNB scene?? what?? its like 3% of electronic music fans listening to that crap! you call that a scene? you can keep it all for yourself. We'll keep House, Techno and Trance

when i go to raves/after-hours , i go to hear my fav. djs too , and when wicked chicks are there , it makes my experience more enjoyable .

now what do u prefer : awesome half naked chicks wanna be porn stars or shirtless sweating mofos rubbing against you ?

Posted by RnakR on Jun-02-2002 00:57:

anyway ...that's not the point ...we don't care how many times they show up...

the fact is that it's better to go in an afterhour with true music lovers instead of a club full of e-tards

I've been to OASIS a couple of years ago(when tiesto+oakenfold were there).. I gotta tell you, the number of shirtless sweating mofos rubbing agains me MUCH higher then the number of half-naked girls around me. At least in Toronto those shirtless mofos happen to wear pants; in Montreal; however their dress of choice is *underwear*. At least that's how it was during that particular OASIS.

Scene in Montreal is not better than in Toronto. It's different. Toronto is more for clubbers than for ravers. But it doesn't make Montreal's scene better. I think that for tranceaddicts(not for house addicts, techno addicts etc), Toronto IS better. You can even say that judging by # of Toronto tranceaddicts Vs. # of Montreal tranceaddicts on this web-site.

Holy fuck !! That's hilarious !!! TRUE MUSIC LOVERS !!! Damn man, according to everyone consumption of Ecstasy during Montreal raves is HUGE !!! Or are you only calling e-tards 40 year old asians and 15 year old kids? 20-25 years old male/females don't count?

At the same OASIS that I went to, I didn't talk to ONE person who wasn't on something(be it weed, E, speed or whatever else). I actually think GUV has more music lovers, as funny as that may sound.

Posted by fastmp3 on Jun-02-2002 01:23:

well i said it previously , the montreal trance legion is not bigger than toronto's one , but u have to admit our trance scene (let's forget techno and house) is equal to yours (if not BETTER)

my 2 cents , the montrealers 2 cents too :P
