Karma might be a bitch, but in your case, there's no cure (whatsoever) for stupidity.

On a (much) more important note, Wetbar will definitely be missed. For those of you (maybe just that one reply) about people having issues with it being a gay club - grow the fuck up already. I think it's been said before in this forum, so I'll say it again - if you have a problem with said venues, stay the fuck away. Go play in Buckhead or something...

It's places like Wetbar (Blu) and Backstreet that MADE the Atlanta nightlife what it is today. Backstreet started it all, gay, straight or what have you.

I still, to this day, talk to my best friends about our memories from the Backstreet days and I truly feel that out of all the currently operational clubs in Atlanta, Wetbar is by far the best, especially in terms of sound. Opera has gotten better but I've only been once since it's been Opera (Armin in May) but hope to check out some of the upcoming shows like Markus. Just not fond of the way the VIP is set up.

But alas, I have the utmost faith that Liquified will keep the party going, no matter where the venue...just as long as it's not the Mark. That place is like a fucking sardine can.

So, have the events that were scheduled there after it closes been moved? I saw Lindsey Lohan's girlfriend, Samantha Ronson, was scheduled to be there. I'm not usually one to buy into all the celebrity stuff, but I'd check her out to see if she was any good or not. Was BT cancelled?

Seeing as I've never met you, I'm not really too concerned with your opinion concerning my level of intelligence (or lack thereof). I might point out, though, that respect is rarely granted toward people who revert to name calling on the internet.

... but hey, if that's what makes you feel all big and smart, don't let me stop you

Oh yeah, and by the way... we won

I take it the City of Atlanta and/or WETbar settled?

Seems pretty fast for an actual court hearing to of come and gone.

Either way, glad you got justice in the end. That lady cop was a real bitch who didn't do her job, hope she was reprimanded.

Yeah, the gay community had stopped supporting them because they were doing some straight nights and the straight community was scared of the place because it was a Gay club. Go figure!

Gotta say that sounds like a silly reason to close the club. I mean, Backstreet in Atlanta lasted like 30 years and they were always both gay and straight friendly. I went to Wetbar once on a fri night when there was no big DJ, and the place was ultra-gay, although the music was still good. But anyways, the WETbar was like the only gay dance club in Atlanta, that a buncha straight guys came to when a big DJ would be there. Where are the gays gonna dance now when they wana be around other gays? Sounds like they screwed themselves big time if thats the reason the club closed.

Doubt anyone consciously made that decision, but it's so true.

Are u talking about the Tongue and Groove by the Linberg Marta station? Every time I walk by that place on my way to drink at Taco Mac I hear that place playing booty/rap music. Do they ever play any kind of dance/electronica/trance or is it all the booty shit?

Posted by ZeeRobot1 on Sep-15-2008 11:57:

Im telling you you should just turn center stage into a club its got plenty of room for everyone to dance and exits are close to the dance floor so its not like you have to like weave and bend through the crowd of people for 15 mins to get a drink and more seating the decor inside it isnt as lavish as operas but its not bad. Sound in there is amazing and it can hold a alot of people but their waiting/bar staff blows lol.

but wherever devin takes the events the people will follow so its really up in the air as to where he might go.

too bad, seemed like a nice club when I was there last fall.

didn't have any issues with the gay community, they're normal ppl too you know.

I mean, I got a free drink from the bartender because he liked me even though im straight. I laughed.

Posted by Caution_BiPolar on Sep-15-2008 20:55:

I've seen The Loft used when that venue has concerts... making it a "club" might interfere with that. But, you're right... it doesn't look any worse than WetBar

Posted by ZeeRobot1 on Sep-15-2008 21:10:

I mean not making it a club but like just taking it over like 1 night out of the week and doing something there because that place is the shit and eveyone I know who has been too a event loved that place.

Posted by Caution_BiPolar on Sep-15-2008 21:16:

They'd need another bar. If i recall, the main room only has one bar. Or... they could open up the back room as well

Posted by iammesol on Sep-16-2008 00:12:

The Loft's sound sucks. Even when ConnectATL brought in tons of sound for James Holden, it still had tons of holes everywhere. Vinyl is too small. I've never been to Centerstage though.

Thats hillarious, thats one of the favorite things I liked about Backstreet when it was around (and Swerve) - people wanting to buy YOU drinks instead of the other way around :-)

Posted by ZeeRobot1 on Sep-16-2008 11:06:

center stage is a completely different area then the loft and the vinyl but in the same building first time I was there saw acosta on NYE in 06 tracks were pretty choice and it was a crazy show.

This sux..No where else around town has the same sound..I used to even think wetbar was the best when I used to go there with a friend of mine that is gay few years back..I always thought it was such a good place for shows...Hope you guys are able to find a place that will compare..cause they destroyed eleven50..hate playing at Opera, worst sound in the city..

Posted by ZeeRobot1 on Sep-17-2008 18:30:

BTW will wet bar be selling any of its equipment ?

Lighting and such ?

Posted by spainj125 on Sep-17-2008 19:34:

I dunno though...So the Lofts sound may not be ideal, but I can guarantee it can't be worse than Operas...Opera sounds like you are in a hollow tin can. I'd actually rather see shows in the back room than the main room. I think the Loft would be a good spot until something else could be found.

Also what is wrong with the Mark for the time being? I know you couldn't bring huge headliners there but could definitely bring mid-tier dj's.

Also I don't think MJQ Concourse is even open on Friday nights, at least they weren't last I heard. Wonder what the possibility of using that spot is...It definitely caters to a cool crowd.

I know these places may not be ideal, but at least something till they find something else so every show is not at the tin-can snobbery club.
