Sasha wasn't there. He got into a car accident & damaged his ear drum.

Starfox, Mabye he wrote For An Angel in 94 but it wasn't released till 98. His member's only mix of Member's of Mayday- 10 in 1 is FIERCE. Break beatz are hot! I know For an Angel is Classic & its the track that really launched his career besides love stimulation & forbidden fruit. As a DJ he gets tracks months before they are even released. & there are soo many SICK tracks out. Perhaps he played it to please the crowd...give them what they know. Sasha retired Expander a long time ago that was made in 99.

Yes, I thought that Sasha wasnt there... Some-1 also told me he got into a car accident.. I think that set was from last year.. If they recorded the dj's sets last year then I am pretty sure that we will have alot of Dj sets coming .. That would be awsome eh? In my opinion I think Paul played for an angel for the crowd and for every-1 to remember what a good time they had an how good his set was... I wasnt there for the last song because I had to leave right b-4 he dropped it, but I guess what he did worked because it has all you talking about his set ...

No doubt for an angel is a classic. Ur right 45 RPM was released in Germany in 94...98 in the U.S
My point is PVD is a HUGE he doesn't need to rely on For an Angel anymore, since then he has made sooo many other great tracks. I thought it was bad enuff that he closed w/a 3 yr old track...7 is worse. Pvd is criticized about the fact that he recycles the same records & doesn't know when to retire them. If u have a lot of his live sets u'd notice he plays the same tracks. Like I said before he has access to records 6 months before they are even released & he opts to play old tracks. Being that he's 1 of the best DJ's in the world, He should want to play new records. I LOVE him but I feel he doesn't push the envelope enuff. He's become kinda predictable. It isn't good when u can predict what he's gonna drop before u go to his show.

Posted by arturob on Mar-28-2001 15:20:

yup...
you know someffin... i was waiting bad for We Are Alive (Original Mix) and Out There And Back... damn.. if he had played those i might not be here...

anywayz... he's the man... i will try to catch him @ Twilo in april 13th.

see ya

Posted by Thor on Mar-28-2001 15:24:

Talking Thats why I like him so much.......

Well I respect him for doing that, maybe its because I'm old but the classics are great in sets.... Sure if his sets were nothing but oldies I could find a reason to complain, but a few tracks here and there is absolutely fine by me

Cheers,

Thor......

Posted by arturob on Mar-28-2001 15:26:

the only old song was For An Angel.. and damn the crowd went insane... they were treating him like g0d.. shit .. you have to see the picz

We are Alive & Tell me Y are cheese & very commerical. He played the shit outta them in 00. I heard We are Alive for the first time at his 1 yr anniversary 3-25. He needs to retire those 2 tracks.
Another thing I wanna address is that he plays sooo many SICK tracks in his live sets that he hasn't played at Twilo ie: Fratty boy, Ultra Vickens, Plastic Angel. 4-13 the 2 Yr Anniversary is gonna be INSANE! He'll prolly play till 9:30-10. Get on line before 12 or unless U'll be waiting online for hours. See ya on the dancefloor.

Ultra dissapointment....

I posted this on the ultra2k pictures and I'll post it here as well so everyone can see what really happened back stage.
----

I had a fun trip to miami, but the party itself was just sooooo poorly managed.
I think most of the kidz and etc had fun (cept for the $5.00 water and it's the
same kind we get for $2.00 here in TX kids), but I just kept noticing mistake
after mistake by the management because of lack of planning.

top 3 annoyances
1. There is no fucking reason why the stage manager and his 25 (literally)
friends should be on stage, dancing, chatting, unplugging equipment, and
bumping the turn tables WHILE a DJ is spinning. The music stopped two times
during oakenfolds set and two times during PVD's set because some one either
accidently unplugged the tables or bumped them causing a VERY noticible skip
and thus annoying the living hell out of the DJ (you should have seen how
pissed oakenfold got. He was >><< close from walking off stage).

2. Spare turntables: What do DJ's need to spin? two turn tables, a mixer and a
shit load of amps and speakers right? What happens if some one from the company
who is setting up the sound stage plugs in your nice technique 1200 into 220V
slot when it should be 110V? You guessed it, fried the living shit out of the
tables and thus Gatecrasher Stage was delayed getting started for 3.5 HOURS
because they had no spare turntables.

3. Non-Existant VIP areas: People paid a premium of 125 (normal tix 50 already)
and got nothing. No free water, No free food, No area JUST for VIP, No T-shirt,
no nothing!
------

I'm glad yall had fun, and I had some fun but over all I was expecting SOOOO much more.
Hopefully they will get their shit together next year.

Talking Classic tune .. well chosed!!

Well, I see you guys discussing about old tracks having to retire ?!?! what is this eeeehhh?!?!! A set like PvD at Ultra was like , one of the most amazing sets I've heard, I was anciously waiting for the track FOR AN ANGEL, since I've never had the oportunity to hear it in such event nor club, and finally my dream came tru, PvD made it tru !!since Im only 16, here IM very limited to things, but well , I was also waiting for OUT THERE AND BACK, wish had me insane when I heard it in the SUmmer sound system in UK ( through the NET ). As the crowd was reacting to the tunes, I bet that everyone would have jumped up for Gouryella -- Gouryella as well... hehehe.. thats how good the people were reacting to the songs.. awesome xperience, uplifting, euphoric, all combined... :-))
Laterz!

Posted by arturob on Mar-29-2001 21:44:

heh...you...
yeah so i just came of reading that crap flaming infinity and well...im not gonna start on infernal either but
pvd closing with for an angel was fucking awesome, if you were there you would have seen the way everybody reacted. even he fd passed out peep in the grass got their fried brains up and started dancing...it was fanominal and i dont think he could have ended it with anything else that could have gotten more of a reaction and sucha awesome vibe from the crowd...

I know.. long quote but its all needed to be there. From what i heard from other people the actual tunage and dj'z were top quality.. but to hear this sort of mis-management at such a large event is, to be honest, not good enough. These events are the highlights of peoples years, people travel fuckin miles to get to them (i know of one ) and to think that they dont have spare fuckin turntables there??? for crying out loud most the DJ's have them in their hotel rooms, and they cant get that one worked out??

Water at $5 doesnt surprise me, u dont buy a new bottkle every time though do u? if u do u are a bit stupid... go fill it from a tap in the bogz...

Fucking about with the plugs, and knocking TT's during performance is not acceptable... not only does it really fuck the DJ off (specially if it gets caught in the middle of beatmatchin an stuff...) but it completely breaks the atmosphere of the place... What kind of unproffesionals organised this? Has anyone complained?? i would if i had payed the good money to see the poor management of the event..

Peace

I know the crowd goes WILD when Pvd

plays for angel. I've witnessed it many times at Twilo. 3/4 of the crowd goes nutz & 1/4 is like ugh he's playing this again. I heard from 4 die hard pvd fans that his set sucked & that he played his new remix of Member's of Mayday 10 in 1 & Agnelli & Nelson's new track "Vegas".
All I'm sayin is Pvd doesn't need to rely on for an angel anymore. Ppl know him for other productions.

Damm TWILO.. is not the matter of how many times you've heard it, maybe 1000 times, probobly not all of them at the right moment.. but this time it was perfect.. the other one I would've chosed would have to be Out There and Back , and well, FOR AN ANGEL was the best choice.. but well, what you see in TWILO is not what exactly happened in ULTRA , in the CROWD, everyone went nuts... well... everyone things differently.. good luck

That's what I said about the turn tables.

5 bux for water is crazy, people go through that stuff @ parties like it's nothing because 1. we are dancing our ass off 2. it's usually hot as hell. 3. e-tards are laid the hell out (not me anymore).

tap water is nasty so I'll just pay for the bottled stuff.
still it's ludicrus that we hafta pay 5 dollars for a bottled water when we can get them out side of the venue for 0.89
talk about price gouging.

Complain formally no, but I've posted my opinions where ever I can and I want to go back next year so I can't be seen as "doging" them too badly. |)
