No that's not my speed, but there has to be some middle ground - something in between putting colored fridge magnets in your hair (spelling out XTC etc) and those italian crocodile skin winklepickers.

This all is so true. It happened in the UK about 8 years ago - all these "cyberkids" were running about clubs, mostly underage and all thinking they were so different and individual but they actually all looked the same, just a mess of flourescent colors, glowsticks and bright hairdyes.

...but glowticks. Come on? I mean, once that "novelty" of something that glows being moved about so it makes "rad" patterns, wears off, well, the interest last less time than a glowstick does.

And yes, mediteranian men (don't forget the Spanish) have zero respect for boundaries with women in clubs, but you have to realise that an entire generation of drunk (and loose) british slags invading that island each year gave them the idea....

TOMMYFROMLA - I'm sure Ibiza did make your brain hurt. In turn, your post made my brain hurt. I think you used them all in Ibiza, so here are some periods . . . . . . . . . and some commas , , , ,

Seriously, though, you really like pacha that much. I though it was the most dated, most coked, most VIP tables on the dancefloor, worst music policy, crappest crowded club out of all the amazing venues on that island.

Also, I saw Mark Farina at Vanguard a couple of mmonths back and had such a good night there - the crowd was all quite sophisticated but up for it, not a glowstick in sight, well dressed/made an effort (but not many loofers or v necks on display). I suppose the Farina following would be a bit more that way inclined but it also gave you an impression of the club being better than it was, if you know what I mean. I mean to say, when it's filled with crackheads, it can look like a crack den.

I suppose your favorite club is DC10 or SPACE.... In that case there is no difference for you in you are at Vanguard or Ibiza!!! Pacha has the nicest looking crowd on the island. Coke heads???? lmaoo as suppose to what? Space?????? DC10??? Its Ibiza!!

I love the E.K.G. program you have going on down there. LA has their shit together on that.

Don't like DC10 that much, not too bad, just full of wasters and it feels like a over hyped bar. Space is a nice club, no argument, very international crowd (the most mixed IMO), but gets so messy in the back room.

No, my favorite overall would probably Privilege (Ku).

The times I've been to Pacha (96' and 05' and 06') I was disappointed and pissed at myself for again giving it a chance. I got in for free the last two times and felt like I wanted a refund. It really feels like a 70's club (that battered terracotta tile makeshift lighting) that has had some modern extensions glued on. The crowd? Easily the most pretentious on the island. 1500 euros for a table on the dancefloor? The music: Decent the first time (Jermey healey) bad 05' (cassius) and okish the last (morillo).

The roof bar is nice but gets too packed and overall I just feel like that is the only club on the island that rests on it's laurels and doesn't have to bother, just cause it has been famous since the 80's and was the first of the Pacha brand. Still looks like club tropicana never left.

Each to their own though, people like different things but I', just saying I know many peeps who feel the same way it.

gypsygirl - Us british guys are great (even if I do say so myself)! By med men I meant spanish, italian etc. I think part of the reason guys in that part of the world act that way in Ibiza is that for more than a decade, you've had drunk, shameless and very loose British girls going over there. Actually, it's got way better in recent year but at the end of the 90's begininning of the 00's, the behavior of the Brits in Ibiza got waaay out of hand - very ashamed.

Back to LA - yes you've only really got two big venue clubs now, but believe me, it's pretty great out here - London, for one of the major cities on earth, the EDM scene is dead. Clubs are damn expensive and full of the wrong people (posers or mash-heads). There are way more opportunities to see a broad selection of good/big name Dj's out here and the clubs seem to make an effort. Maybe it was better out here a couple of years ago, but impression of the last year is really positive.

I dont understand why it bothers you to see somone drunk or on drugs... unless they are dying or falling down on every patron, whats the problem with them enjoying the night the way they want to?

Douche bags who think the world evolves around them. People should only worry about 2 things, the dj and venue. Fuck the vibe\people, when good music is flowing out of the speakers that's all you need and maybe a drink in hand.

Go to Avalon at 3am sat night and see why we all are sick of it!! If the people dont bother you how about the smell???????

When someone is sitting there cracked out staring at glowsticks swirling....what the hell is that supposed to show this world about the EDM scene.

It only hurts the scene. It does not help it. At all.

Who cares how it looks?

Some people visit a city to go sight-seeing, others visit it to see family and friends, others go to sail, ski, backpack, take care of business, invest, attend seminars. Different kinds of people all visit the same city - for different reasons, but they're all there.

Think of the EDM scene in the same way. Everyone goes there for different reasons. Some people go to do drugs, others go to socialize, some go to bling, others go solely to see the DJ, check out their favorite music live (like a rock concert), some go to make contacts, or a combination of any.

As for the cracked-out glowstick watching, it can only bother you if you let it. Live and let live! At worst, it's fun entertainment.

Doesn't matter why you go, just go, leave your judgments at the door, and have a blast!

...mmm, so hot!

The only time this really bothers me is when people are swinging around smacking into me or bumping into me repeatedly. Well there was this one guy bouncing off crowd at avalon that reeked of puke, but a few cracks to his head of my elbow dance and he moved to the other side of the dance floor.

Posted by nchs09 on Sep-23-2008 00:21:

Being a douche bag has nothing to do with drunks or drugged people.

Posted by epic007 on Sep-23-2008 00:56:

Hell... I've rolled hard many events and never bothered anyone. I do understand some of the comments here, but as long as they are not bumping into me or hitting me with the glowstings... I'm pretty cool with everyone.

It seems like those who notice these things let it bother them too much and they completly lose focus of the night. I've have had some small interuptions in the club, but usually I'll just move and forget it ever happen. It would take a lot to get me pissed, but has never happen! I guess cause I go alone could be the trick. Usually if you go with a group, it only takes one person to kill the whole mood!

Under certain circumstances, there are definately some club no, no's, but to say "grow up" and leave the lights at home is a bit to much.
If the club allows it, go for it! Just dont hit anyone...lol!

It's kinda like telling a baseball player that he no longer can use a bat to hit the ball when this object was the essential tool fin the HISTORY of the game.

If you see me, there is a good chance I will have the visor pulled low, with glowing photons in my hand... and to let all you loafer wearing, v-neck w/ sport jacket, and affliction wearing hard heads... that may have just started listening to edm this year and know everything about the culture. YOU DON'T.... Don't judge us, ravers are here forever!

N0 I dont wear ufo pants or candy, but I do promote PLUR.

Without the raver or hard edm listners... these events wouldn't be as sucessful.

Okay everyone... bring it! This is about to get interesting!
No disrespect to anyone, but if you are offended, then I just described YOU...lol!

While they are not mutually exclusive, they do increase some people's douche score, exponentially in many cases (i.e. a minor douche can easily become a class A douche once trashed).

I do think that people who go clubbing just and only to do drugs are pretty sad.

And no, the photos and videos of the glowsticks only made me think they are even more childish.

The worst are glowsticks on ropes.

But hey if it makes you that happy, who am I to piss on your strawberries?

You know, I thought it somewhat evolved from "poi swinging" and taking that it probably did... it didnt fall out of some kids ass and became the thing to do.

It may have some history in the culture of this music. It shares a value with the birth of the past movements and I became the usual.

Hell, I just thought those who enjoy this type of music would know some history about the culture. I dont think this just happen 2 years ago... people was doing this over a hundred years ago... well maybe with fire, but samething...lol!

Sorry you had a bad experience at Vanguard.. but just to let you know.. lights are not allowed inside.. and even if they get snuck in security quickly has you put them away.. and puddlers are DEFINITELY NOT ALLOWED.. FIRE HAZZARD YOU KNOW .. SECURITY PRETTY MUCH STOPS ALL THAT RAVE STUFF IMMEDIATELY..
sorry, but this nonsense is not true about Vanguard

Posted by DjWoody on Sep-23-2008 19:26:

Well, it happened to me, and it has happened to other people. So, I guess next time I'll video tape it and expose it to the world.
