nick, are you serious right now? (since you are new to all this i will give you the benifit of a doubt) i can understand if you don't like his music.. (i dont really either, anymore...) but he is one dj that i have loved for almost 14 years just for his turntabalism alone. he's a phenominal dj. he power mixes like a crazy fool, and his scratching capabilities are INSANE. so i don't know if this thread was based on the music that a dj plays (wich i agree, for BBB, is bleh) or for skill set alone... because if it's for skill.. YOU ON CRACK! now watch this... or you're not my best friend anymore. Posted by rizo on Sep-19-2008 15:59:

Ha ha ha... worst set EVERRRR! Sucks that'll go to my grave with that memory. I've tried to everything short of hitting myself in the head to forget that nite. Unfortunately my memory is good.
Concerning Benassi; he was pretty good at Nocturnal last year, so so at EDC, and his radio FG mixes are really good. I've never seen him clear a dancefloor so...
Oh I forgot an honorable mention; OG's openning set for SVD last year at Space Miami. A shitty set on every level - really really bad. He was also the closer I believe, but I didn't stay for a second scoop of that shit. Although, I doubt he could do any worse.

I prefer the vibe in SF to a lot of other places... maybe it's that which sets it apart?

Oh yes I knew the guy has technical skill and all of that and I heard he played really great music once upon a time. That's why I went to see him twice and yup his music sucked and for having as much skill as he has he didn't show it =/, He made an excuse for train wrecking once(don't get me wrong, shit happens and it's def forgivable...it's the excuse) ...he blamed it on being "distracted" by the go go dancers o.0? plus he dated the manager of a friend of mine and she didn't have too many great things to say about him....BUT the whole reason I put him here was because of the horrible music he played both times I went to see him, but I will respect the skill. i agree with Dave! At least in comparison to LA.

+1 for aoki. his live shows are .. energetic but yeah. he doesnt even really mix or blend, just jumps around the stage like a maniac then "oh shit the songs almost over" and does a sloppy transition.

I was just trying to avoid how that DJ is a snooze fest nowadays to me personally esp since I slightly agree with outlaws (although it was 06 at Circus for me) but know a lot of people who shit their pants just seeing him haha Last time he was in SF I left early cause it was just so boring! It was more entertaining watching someone puke outside of Ruby that night haha jk jk
As for the vibe, it could be amazing anywhere with the right crowd, still love the PVD in Central Park afterparty at LOVE w/ Thrillseekers. Same goes with Rebel each time I've been there. I think Andy Moor liked Rebel and the TAs there a bit too much haha I didn't have high hopes for NY but the NYTAs are awesome. Same goes with the Baltimore/DCTAs <3 I didn't even make it to the Minimoo parties when I was going to NY once a month but I could only imagine how good those are, much like KONTROL at the End Up!
also Scott, never seen or cared for Gervais as much as friends have told me to check him out so thanks for not making me feel like I missed out ...now how about booking Holden Posted by DJ Reese on Sep-19-2008 22:47:

He used to be great, whether you like his music or not. He doesn't use his skill anymore. He asks for elaborate DJ set ups now and hardly uses any of it. Who the hell uses 5 cds?

GLAUDE!!!
Though I'm not going to let him suck my nut. Unless he's better at that than mixing.

I've been a Glaude fan for 10 years now. Really cool guy and he never thought he was a superstar DJ, it just worked out that way. He just did what he did, had a good time doing it and people loved it. Glaude's just a good time. I just think his style doesn't work everywhere. He made his name doing raves. When he started doing a lot of club gigs he blew up because...come on...you ever seen a DJ like him? For the people like me who have been there with Glaude since his early days, we'll always love the guy. He's one of a kind. If you're looking for technical djing skills and the latest in minimal tech...he's just not your guy.

i'm sure he's good but the last 2 times I saw him (Tentation & MNS), he totally disappointed me with his mixing. But I do like his energy & crowd interaction.

Sad that Glaude's name has come up so many times in this thread... very telling.
IMO his greatest strength (crowd interaction) is also his greatest weakness. Focus on the music man & chill on the fist pumping. Look at Digweed, he gets by pretty well and he doesn't look at the crowd once during his set!

that's because digweed is a maestro and glaude is a drugged out freak.
...back on topic, worst for me is deadmouse.

Comparring Glaude to Diggers is like apples and oranges. And Glaude's no druggy. Likes to drink and believe it or not, a bit of a stoner.

and this year i saw jOOf in LA and in SF and he destroyed LA and was just good in SF, i kept waiting for that magical moment that dave is always saying happens in SF with djs, it didn't happen but then again it was jOOf, it was still amazing
but of all his sets i've seen to date, his LA show this year with CL when he closed was the most magical set for me!!!
oh and baby ford can suck my left nut, fcking killed the party at cielo after tanzman this past sunday. we counted like 5 trainwrecks before we had to leave, it was sad to watch that party die like that when the energy was so insane up until that point
